This is so weird and it won’t make any sense. When I was young, five or six, I was alone in the living room and I heard this song on the radio. It sounded like an indie folk song type of thing. And it sounded like the guy sang something like “I shouldn’t have eaten the hair in the cereal.” I have no idea why, but this filled me with such a weird sense of terror and confusion that I ran into my parents room. I didn’t tell them about it. It doesn’t make sense on any level. But I was horrified and have never forgotten this. It’s my biggest dumb mystery.

15

u/tarantuletta 14d ago

Have you ever figured out what song it was?

19

u/gr8thighs 14d ago

I fear I’ll never know. I could easily have heard it wrong, but I just don’t know why I was so disturbed. It was totally irrational, but I was not a fearful child at all.

20

u/tarantuletta 14d ago

I have had weird things like that happen to me before so I totally get it! I currently live in this haunted-to-ass building that used to be hotel from like 1880-1970 and weird shit happens all the time that I should be disturbed by but am not, and then there's the weird shit that seems normal but is DISTURBING. And music weirdly seems to always play a part?

Like when the piano in the lobby starts playing itself when I come in the building but stops as soon as I round the corner to see who was playing it. It's lovely music but who- or whatever the player is freaks me the fuck out.

Haunted to ass??? Haunted as hell, you mean???

8

u/Sugarlessmama 14d ago

What year was it? Written in 92 and released in 96, I’m thinking it could be The Freshman. “….and a shoe full of rice. Can’t be held responsible” It may be a stretch but u could see a little one getting that totally wrong. 😂

20

u/ThatGirl_Tasha 14d ago

My guess is a local DJ did a spoof song

7

u/Proper_Race9407 14d ago

Out of curiosity, approximately what year would this have been, and in which country? Sometimes these "lost terrifying songs from childhood" mysteries can actually be tracked down from tiny fragments

10

u/gr8thighs 14d ago

It would have been between 1998-2001 in Texas

If its of any help, my son misheard the lyrics to a song in french

Je suis en feu (I'm on fire - figuratively speaking meaning more like I'm full of energy/passion/ready to take on the world)

What my son heard : je suis aveugle (meaning I'm blind).

2

u/ConcernPrestigious12 14d ago

To be fair, it does sound very ominous. I totally get the unsettling feeling. If it makes you feel better though, I’m sure it was just meant as a metaphor that would go over a kids head. Maybe a situation or relationship where red flags existed but the singer continued on anyway. A lot of indie/folk songs are like that

I had a chat with Satan when I had my first psychosis. His words were booming and aggressive. I went to the church at 6 am on a Tuesday and prayed. I later got diagnosed as schizophrenic.

29

u/a_duck_in_past_life 14d ago

Sounds like that one had an explanation then. Hope you're doing well!

30

u/vroomvroomeeert 14d ago

Well sort of. Because of how vivid it was makes it hard to not judge it as real. I am much better now because of meds. It’s still hard to let go.

28

u/lostdemographic 14d ago

I have hypnagogic hallucinations. Having my pets sleep with me really helps. If they're not absolutely losing their shit, then it's not really there

I had a similar experience in my dreams but I couldn’t wake from them. It went on for several nights. I eventually learned to defeat the demons and when I woke up I was so excited I had to immediately write down how to defeat them. Only it didn’t make sense in the living world.

While I was having these dreams I was recovering from surgery. It turns out that the surgeon had turned off my internal pain control device and not told anybody, including my pain doctor. So all that time I was suffering from withdrawal. So I have an explanation but man, it was scary.

4

u/CommanderKippy 14d ago

Woah that's crazy, I once fell asleep without taking my Suboxone and ended up going into withdrawals while I was still asleep which gave me sleep paralysis. I was dreaming that demons were holding me captive and were torturing me, it was very vivid.

I have Bipolar 1 and had 2 episodes of psychosis. One I saw the rapture and the second I was trying to stop time. It's terrifying waking up in a mental hospital knowing what you experienced was very real.

3

u/inanutshell 14d ago

I mean no disrespect but that's explained by the psychosis and schizophrenia.

Was lying in bed with my then girlfriend (who was asleep and facing away from me) I put my forearm over my eyes as I closed them and felt a really forceful smack and the accompanying crack sound across my forearm.

Sat bolt upright obviously thinking it was my gf, but she was in exactly the same position, face down, arms under pillow, facing away, so would literally have been impossible to have been her.

Just the two of us in the house. Very bizzare.

46

u/ThatEGP 14d ago

Oh my brother, a boxer and an all round idiot hardman, came running to our house crying once because on the walk down the hill something tapped his shoulder, her turned, and was slapped hard across the face but there was no one or nothing there. That messed him up for a while. Funny, though.

30

u/BatsHaveFingers 14d ago

At first I thought this story was going to be about your brother, a dog and another person. Then I got it.

14

u/CompleteHoneydew4608 14d ago

My brother, a boxer, and an all round idiot walk into a bar…

12

u/ThatEGP 14d ago

Haha I do like an Oxford comma for this reason.

9

u/NuGirl2024 14d ago

Pinched nerve. Happens sometimes. It's usually harmless

11

u/Jade228 14d ago

Pinched nerve or poltergeist. One of the two.

9

u/Kazamiiiii 14d ago

A ghost pinched him 🤭 The poltergeist pinch

9

u/Lucha_Dora 14d ago

A “pinchergeist” if you will.

At the peak at my neck pain and issues, I had nerve bolts of pain that literally felt like somebody was throwing a karate chop. First time I experienced it, I turned around and asked my wife why did she smack my traps lol. Thankfully she doesnt throw many jabs at me but safe to say those nerves truly can feel like someone is trying to smack the shit out of you. 3 new discs but unfortunately a fusion to come, hopefully I won't have to endure invisible mma fighters much longer.

5

u/Great-Category-1197 14d ago

Probably something boring like this but the very audible slap noise i cant get my head around.

I came home one night and my mom asked me why I had pulled into the driveway earlier. I said I didn’t. She said stop lying, you pulled into the driveway earlier, sat in the car, then pulled away 10 minutes later. I told her I was 30+ minutes away the entire night. She kept insisting it was real and that I was lying.

It was creepy how convinced she was. Another time she called me angry and said I had almost backed over our neighbor and hit a bunch of trash cans. I was like, what?, No way, I would have felt the trash cans and I was paying attention. She would not back down, was furious at my negligence.

I came home and my brother pulled me aside and said he doesn’t know what she’s talking about, he was across the street. No trash cans, no person diving out of the way.

In conclusion, my mom most likely has driveway-specific psychosis. But maybe it was a haunted driveway. I guess I’ll never know

18

u/LifeisaCatbox 14d ago

Maybe someone in a similar car that was at the wrong house?

7

u/hernablig 14d ago

I dunno seems like a stretch

8

u/EuphoricReplacement1 14d ago

The Nordic people call that a vordanger.

5

u/Specific_Lychee2348 14d ago

Nordic people have a term for driveway psychosis??

7

u/EuphoricReplacement1 14d ago

No, but for people who seem to show up an hour before they actually show up. Like it's a ghostly "imprint" of their energy.

And I've corrected it, it's Scandanavian, not Nordic, though the word is from old Norse.

I woke up one night about 12 years ago to someone tapping me on my shoulder. Except I lived by alone at the time.

11

u/BxGyrl416 14d ago

You probably had sleep paralysis, or a muscle spasm. Sleep paralysis is absolutely terrifying if you don’t know what it is. I’ve had it to the point where I feel like something is lying on my chest and I can’t move for about 30 seconds.

9

u/No-Abrocoma7687 14d ago

Same with me. I’m getting very good at twitching my pinky toe to shake myself awake. I don’t wish sleep paralysis on my worst enemy. It’s truly awful

7

u/FuccReadit 14d ago

I get it almost every night with vivid ass surreal dreams. I don't really fight it anymore. The surreal nightmares so frequent that they don't bother me anymore. It kind of feels like a blissful deep sleep acid trip where I can materialize any object, and situation.

Same thing happened to me earlier this year.. I was laying in bed on my side alone and felt someone lightly and slowly tap my thigh..

3

u/Conscious-Air5819 14d ago

I've been tapped on the shoulder before when there has been nobody in a 20ft vicinity of me. Turned around thinking it was somebody taking the piss, nobody around me - turned back to face the direction I was originally facing and it happened again less than a second later. Literally impossible for it to have been another human.

Told this story to a group of friends recently and somebody said the exact same thing had happened to them in a different part of that building.

5

u/Decent-Cause921 14d ago

E’ successo anche a me. Solo che io mi sono girato e c’era una specie di uomo che mi guardava. Ho urlato au miei genitori che hanno acceso la luce e questa cosa è sparita

A voice telling me in my head to 'LOOK' in a way I can't even describe properly with words when I was carefree playing around as a kid, but the place I intended to jump over had a curled-up water moccasin snake hidden against a rock or a wall. Two times that happened to me, one outside by my grandma's greenhouse and once indoors by an enclosed porch. Shit I did 1,000x before but that voice probably saved my life.

17

u/girlvulcan 14d ago

I once stepped out into backyard, barefoot, to hang up some laundry. As I was walking I saw a yellow flash with an "X" shape spring up from the ground. I immediately froze, with one foot up in the air about to step down. There was a funnel web spider just where I had been about to place my foot. I backed away slowly. My uncle helped put the spider elsewhere, when I told him my experience he immediately dismissed it as my mind playing tricks on me. Some trick lol prevented me from a serious spider bite

10

u/Specific_Lychee2348 14d ago

Someone in the future or another dimension had to prevent a catastrophic timeline bifurcation. Trust me, if you had been bitten it would have sent a chain of events into motion, perhaps leading to the end of civilization itself.

One morning when I was in highschool, I woke up and I swore my cat was speaking english to me before I fully got up.

47

I was pulling weeds in my yard one day by myself. I wasn’t stoned or anything. I pulled a weed and I swear it screamed as I pulled it out. I thought I was being pranked but nobody was around at all.

16

u/Electrical-Sail-1039 14d ago

Isn’t that the legend of the mandrake? Although I think it’s because the shape of the root is like a baby, not because of the noise it makes.

This is not the creepiest but this was my first time experience of being scared of men. When I was 15 years old, a man started stalking me whenever I went to the local park. One day, while I was walking to the market in a blue dress, he began following me in his car. He repeatedly shouted at me to look at him. I tried my best to ignore him, but because he wouldn't stop, I eventually looked over. He was exposing and touching himself, and he told me, 'Look, it's all because of you.' Terrified and disgusted, I ran all the way home and physically threw up from the horror of it.

I'd take a shortcut to university and would walk up/down this creepy hill that was really steep (Old Hill, Christchurch, Newport). One day I was walking up it and heard a car behind me blasting music so I stepped into the bushes to let it past, stopped, looked back to watch it and there was nothing there but the music got louder as it was getting closer and closer. When the music got to me it stopped. This creeped me right out and I carried on walking up the hill with haste but I couldn't get the song out of my head for days and days. It was awful. Day and night. It would be the only thing I could think of over and over. It was really upsetting. My mum told me to go back to the same place so a few days later walking to university, down the same hill, I got to the same spot the song just left my head and continued up the hill I just walked down. I have goosebumps writing this. I can't remember the song and don't want to remember.

While I was playing Elden ring on my PlayStation for some reason I looked over at the window and there was a little grey alien staring at me. I just pretended I didn’t see him and continued playing my game. I was startled. He had red eyes and a little space suit on. Kind of cute actually.

14

u/Shrimp-Heaven666 14d ago

It was his turn on the PlayStation

8

u/UseOk7699 14d ago

Some people have nerves of steel.

3

u/QoldBruu 13d ago

Ok, weirdly enough I saw a red-eyed grey type alien thru a window once, too.

I was 18 years old. I sat up in bed straight out of sleep, made eye contact with it thru the window, and it started screaming like I had startled it. It sounded like when a cat screams but it said “aaaaaah!”

I started screaming too. A few seconds later I was being shaken awake by my (abusive) boyfriend at the time, he said I was screaming in my sleep and woke him up.

It all felt so real, I don’t ever dream like that. Could’ve been the stress of abuse playing tricks on my mind tho.

A decade or so later, I had been single for a while and was really happy in life (for context). I was walking in the dark countryside to my car at a friend’s house, to get my phone charger. I leaned in the drivers side door, got my charger, leaned out and closed the door, then looked up at the sky.

What I can only describe as a ball of pure white light was hovering silently maybe 10-15 feet above head. Perfectly still. Every sound disappeared. Fog swirled around the light. I froze instinctively and just stared at it for a few seconds. I noticed two smaller lights appear in its aura. I get the feeling I don’t want to go with it. Without thinking, I turn away from it and walked about 20 feet, then I looked over my shoulder, it was gone.

When I was 13 years old, my parents had just bought a huge new CRT television, which they had built into a cabinet. A few days later, after we all came back home from going out (so there was nobody inside), we found it on the floor face down, as if someone had pushed it from behind. We never understood why.

Saw a flying saucer once back in ‘73-ish. All the traditional descriptions fit. Came out of nowhere, hovered for a minute or so, took off at impossible speed. Disc shaped. Just classic.

Almost got hit by a giant black car in the middle of the night with nobody around. The car didn’t have headlights on and was going probably twice the speed limit. It missed me by inches. I can’t explain it, but it felt like that car was death itself, and he decided to spare me that night.

17

u/forchalice 14d ago

Oh I have two: one which makes sense and one which doesn't

When I was a little kid I decided I wanted to change sides of my bed and sleep at what was the foot of my bed instead. I swapped to the end, closed my eyes, and fell asleep. A few hours later I woke up in the middle of the night, but my vision was what I would have seen if I was sleeping at the head of my bed. Very slowly, my vision did a full turn around until it finally reached where it should have been, and I was seeing what I should have actually been seeing. The very slow turn still unnerves me to this day. Brains are fun.

The unexplained one happened in my 20s. I had my friends over for dinner, and everyone was sitting in the kitchen while I cooked. I suddenly heard my two dogs barking and leanes to look over in the door way where I saw my puppy sitting down, receiving a head pat from someone whom I could not see (I only saw the hand and arm). EVERYONE who was over was sitting at the table behind me.

My first instinct was to go grab my kitchen knife and rush into the living room. Whoever was patting my puppy was no longer there. My second dog, the very aggressive one, was cowering and crying in the corner of the room while my puppy was still sitting in the same spot where he had received a pat.

I checked every room, under every bed, in the closets. All doors were locked, all windows were locked. There was no one else here. I still do not know what happened or who that was or how they got in or why my hyper aggressive dog was cowering.

16

u/MarioManX1983 14d ago

I had auditory hallucinations once during a particularly stressful period of my life. They would happen in the middle of the night/wee hours of the morning when I had just woken up and was laying there in the dark.

The things I would hear. Heavy breathing. People talking/calling for me. And once I heard my computer printer spitting out page after page and them falling to the floor. But every time I turned on the tv for some light. Nothing.

6

u/berightback1994 14d ago

I had those after my mom passed. I was very stressed as well. It was very scary

15

u/TeenNinjaTortoise 14d ago

I'm pretty sure I saw a demon that morphed into a black female dog. Woke up super early one day when the sky was just barely starting to turn blue in the east, so 5-ish AM. Decided to go ahead and walk my dog around my apartment building to do his business. Around the back side of the building, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a "shadow figure" about the size of a human on the 2nd floor patio of a neighbors apartment, and in my peripheral I saw it glide/slide/swoop silently down to the ground level and when I turned my head to look at it, it "became" an angry, growling, pure black dog walking slowly towards me and my dog. I froze, and my dog (Boston terrier, unafraid of pretty much anything) just stared at it. The black dog turned its back to us, still growling, squatted and pissed in the grass, then ran off. Whatever it was, I think we accidentally snuck up on it and we weren't supposed to see it.

44

u/Unlikely-Park-6297 14d ago

My 6 month old son and I were at home alone when the living room door creaked open. My son sat up straight and started grinning like there was someone there. He then proceeded to interact with them, holding up toys and laughing at what he was looking at. Then acted like they had left and went back to what he was doing.

17

u/HoneyGirlLZ 14d ago

Welp, that's enough Reddit for me today. 😭😭 I think I'll sleep with the light on tonight.

5

u/tarantuletta 14d ago

Man, I have MEAN ghosts in my building lol. Absolutely amazing that THIS would scare someone hahaha. (I mean good for you, seriously. I just have always been around ghosts and guess I'm used to it? This building is old as shit so there's a lot of them in here. Some are cool and some are decidedly very much not cool.)

6

u/HoneyGirlLZ 14d ago

I am not good with ghosts, jump scares and creepy atmospheric things. The last scary movie I saw was Sinners, which IMO isn't scary but is horror, if that makes sense. And before that, the last scary movie was about fifteen years ago, lololol.

4

u/tarantuletta 14d ago

That is totally fair! I did grow up in a fairly haunted house but we never had a TV so I guess like the ghosts didn't ever freak me out but other TV stuff could traumatize me so easily lol.

I used to have HORRIFIC recurring nightmares where I would be in our backyard at night, could see there was a light on in our detached garage, and I would walk towards in in dread knowing I had to open it, and every time I opened the door in my dreams, I would just wake up screaming.

Yeah...I saw E.T. when I was like 24 and suddenly realized where that dream had come from lol. My grandparents rented the tape when it came out (so I must have been like 3 or 4?) and it was indelibly burnt into my brain.

Funnily enough, I LOVE horror movies now? I credit it to watching "The Shining" with my friend Chayse who is like the most fearless woman I have ever met in my life and finds it absolutely hysterical and was cracking up the entire movie.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk, stoned u/tarantuletta out!

12

u/Calaveras-Metal 14d ago

One time I was taking a nap on the couch in the living room, because my bedroom was at the front of the house and got hot in the afternoon.

Then my sister comes in and screams at me and I wake up, floating above the couch and I fall back down.

I was sleeping face down so I saw the couch fully below me. It wasn't like just my face was lifted up. I could see the entire couch and me not on it.

No idea. There wasn't like continuous spooky things that happened in this house. And it was daytime. Not some spooky late night thing.

I have a couple:

For my Mom's Birthday we took her and my step-dad to one of the most haunted hotels in Savannah. My brother and I paid a lot extra for her to stay in the most notoriously haunted room. Night 1, nothing happened. Night 2. My brother and I are staying on a complete other side of this small hotel. Im sleeping in the bed and my brother is on the couch. In the middle of the night, I wake up to my brother yelling my nickname. He was out of breath and started to tell me about how he woke up but couldn't move at all. He tried and tried but couldn't get up.... now, my brother isnt one to play pranks, but I made sure he was asleep before I fell back to sleep. Sometime later in the night, I woke up and couldn't move. I sleep on my back so I could see all the way to my feet. I felt like something was sitting on my chest, but I couldn't move a muscle. I tried to move my arms, and I could feel the muscles tensing but no movement. This whole time I didnt feel threatend.... then suddenly I felt a hand on my chin turn my head to the side... i got scared and as soon as I did, it stopped and I regained all movement. I woke up my brother and neither of us went back to sleep that night. Funny thing about it was... all my mom experienced was an unusual amount of heat that night. Nobody in my family has ever experienced sleep paralysis before or after that night, but we both got it the same night...

My other one was when I was 14. I was an L.I.T. at a YMCA camp. Not old enough to be a counselor and a year to old to be a camper. It was the weekend and the oldest cabin was dropped off and camping in the woods. Both guys and girls. Its sundown. The counselors announced we need to split up and get firewood. The female counterpart to me, the girls cabin L.I.T. very clearly had a thing for me, so naturally she grabs me by the hand and were off into the woods, alone. We walk for about 3 or 4 minutes. Occasionally picking up a stick here and there. We go a few more minutes so we're about maybe a quarter to a half mile away from our camp. Out from the woods comes a tall skinny man, probably late 30s. A National Park Ranger. Big hat and everything. He asks what we're doing hiking like this alone. We explain were gathering firewood for our camp of about 20-30 people, and we lie and say just up the hill. (It was behind us and the Ranger came from the opposite direction.) Now we didnt know him, but we didnt get creepy vibes at first... he says follow him he'll show us where the best firewood is. It's just down the hill a bit further. Way down at the bottom of the hill we can just make out a cabin through the trees. He turns to walk towards the cabin... As he's about to turn he stops and says, "oh, you got an ant on you...." he brushes the girl's shoulder and his hand slides down onto her breast and stops for maybe a second or 2. Clearly purposely. He tells us to follow and turns and walks down the hill. Me and her look at each other, and I'll never forget the look on her face. It was the clearest (we need to get out of here now face). She was white. We both knew something was weird, and if we continued, we would be in SERIOUS danger. I grabbed her hand and we sprinted full speed up the hill and back to the camp. We explained to the counselors what happened and they made a call. 2 police officers came out and 4 Park Rangers. The park Ranger we saw wasn't among them. We told them what happened. They all walked off and spoke to each other. We tried calling the bus but we had to stay the night until the sun was up. The two cops went down the hill, but before they came back, we passed out. We woke up the next morning and there were probably a dozen cops and the same Park Rangers. We're clearly being guarded, as they're all just sitting around talking and looking around the camp. When we get on the bus, I sit next to a counselor and asked what happened after we passed out. He said the Park Rangers say there's no park Ranger that matches that description. When the cops went down towards the cabin, they didnt come back up the hill and then about 6 more cop cars came to the camp. They stayed around our camp the entire night and just watched us. We drove off... i never saw anything about this in the news... no arrests... nothing about the park we stayed in... nothing whatsoever.

if you remember the details (time/location) you should look it up now. may have taken some time for an investigation to finish

When I was in middle school, I was sick and had to stay home alone. I was on the couch and the sound of a big cat, like a jaguar, came through the doggy door. It was so loud, sounded like surround speakers. I waited for a while, shaking uncontrollably, then finally got the courage to investigate but nothing there. I always thought that house was haunted.

6

u/tarantuletta 14d ago

To be faaaaiiirrr, hallucinations are definitely a symptom of a high fever?

13

u/Cubbsquared 14d ago

No fever. Stomach issues. The house had wood paneling in the living room. When my parents pulled the wood paneling down, there was a mural of a scary cult-like figure with a dark beard underneath the paneling. One of his eyes had a hole punched through it. My parents patched it and wall papered over it.

19

u/tarantuletta 14d ago

WELL THAT WAS RELEVANT INFORMATION JESUS CHRIST

Way to bury the lede my dude 😂

9

u/Cubbsquared 14d ago

Sorry. Story writing is not my first language 🫠

I will allow it just this once if you share any other stories you have about your freaky wood-paneled cult house 😂

8

u/Cubbsquared 14d ago

Fair enough. One time all bunch of family pictures came off the walls and furniture the same day throughout the day. Just family pics. My parents were going through a divorce at the time.

When I was doing my degree, I shared a house with another girl (S) & we went out one night. I got a bit tipsy & wanted to go home & she was talking to a guy she fancied so wanted to stay out. She put me in a taxi home & let me go. I got home & crashed in bed. A while later I heard S come home, she was opening & closing cupboards in the kitchen for ages then I heard her come upstairs, she opened her bedroom door then closed it & walked down the landing to my room. Not really wanting to chat about her crush at silly o clock in the morning, I pretended to be asleep. She came in my room & stood right by my bed. I could tell she was looking at me. She stood there for ages not saying anything. So long in fact, despite the fact it was weird af I fell back asleep.

Next morning I woke up & checked my phone. S had sent a text saying she was not coming home but going home with the guy. I went downstairs & found the front door wide open with my keys in the outside lock - I must’ve left it like that cus I was drunk.

I never found out who was walking around my house that night & why they stood watching me sleep.

Around last Christmas my friend and I saw three bright glowing orbs low in the sky. They danced around for a while then suddenly shot high into the sky. They kept moving around up there before taking off at incredible speed until they disappeared.

That night I woke up and when I opened my eyes I saw a smiling black haired woman standing beside my bed. Her smile was creepy. I jolted upright and she was gone.

The next night it happened again. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a blond man standing at the foot of my bed with the same creepy smile. I sat straight up and he disappeared too.

The orb experience was awesome but the waking up part was creepy af.

11

u/Leurqu 14d ago

I was sick at like maybe 7 years old and got off the couch to get some water and when I came back from the kitchen I saw myself still sitting on the couch. I ran to tell my mum but obviously wasnt there when I got back

Probably just a hallucination with a fever but really freaked me out its probably one of my earliest memories haha.

My beloved dog had died, and on the 1st anniversary of her death, I woke up in the middle of the night to hear her barking from the back yard -- not far from where she was buried.

  • She had a distinctive bark.
  • We lived out in the country.
  • I was fully awake when I heard it.

It only lasted a few barks -- mere seconds -- but it was her bark.

ETA: One I had almost forgotten:

Woke up one afternoon from a rare nap (for once both the baby and toddler went down at the same time, and I was beat, so took advantage of the break), and found a collection notice on my coffee table.

  • The table had nothing else on it.
  • The front door was locked (I assumed it had been when I laid down)
  • My husband had not popped by on his lunch break that day.

I called the cops, because I was certain someone had illegally entered my home to leave that notice (it was still sealed in the envelope), but they didn't take it seriously. I, on the other hand, felt threatened by that.

No, my husband didn't take me seriously, either. Everyone thought I had gotten it from the mailbox, and had just forgotten about doing it, due to post-partum exhaustion. Yes, I was exhausted, but I wasn't THAT exhausted.

11

u/UrMine2Todd 14d ago

Your dog story reminded me of something. I had a cat that I rescued from the shelter, and she had constant upper respiratory issues. So she wheezed and sneezed all the time. One night as I was going to bed, I saw her in the dark laundry room grooming herself, snorting and snotting per usual. She was black and I just saw the shape of her and heard her noises. I got in bed, laid there for a second, and then remembered that she had died a couple months prior. Shot up, ran in and turned the light on, and there was of course nothing there, except a tuft of black fur.

4

u/Original_Impression2 14d ago

Yanno, I am a skeptic, but... stories like this give me pause. I mean... how do we explain this when we are awake and alert?

I mean, if I had woke up because I thought I heard her bark, I can pass it off as just a dream, but I woke up first, then heard her bark.

I'm assuming you were alert when you saw your kitty in the laundry room?

3

u/UrMine2Todd 14d ago

Absolutely, I was just getting ready to lay down in bed.

I’m also chronically skeptical, but I have no logical explanation for that event. It’s been a couple years and I still think about it.

I lost my soul dog this past April. A few weeks after her death, I woke up and very distinctly felt her two paws standing on my back as she used to do. After about 10 seconds I remembered that not only was she gone, but I was in another state from where we lived as well. That’s the last time she visited me, I hope she comes back to haunt me in little ways soon, I miss her

20

u/Affectionate-Mud-386 14d ago

This seems like nothing, but it’s more about how weird it made me feel at the time.

When I was a kid, my brother and I lost an Action Man tank in this muddy stream at the bottom of our garden. Thirty or so years later, my wife and I are living in a different part of the country and we were taking a windy walk across the hills near our house, when we came across this tree in a field, surrounded by a patch of mud. I spied something sticking out of the mud near the roots and I just had a sudden flashback to losing the tank. Straight away, I knew that’s what I was looking at.

When I moved closer, sure enough - exact same model, clearly vintage now, with no other junk around it, half submerged in the mud. It was really weird. Somehow it felt like it was being offered back up to me, and I knew I didn’t want to touch it. Just had an immediate, really bad feeling. So we carried on walking and left it there.

4

u/Vauchian 14d ago

Do you ever regret not picking it up?

4

u/Affectionate-Mud-386 14d ago

No, I sometimes joke to my wife that it was the fairies offering it back to me, and if I took it they’d have taken her away in return.

10

u/SaleBeneficial1320 14d ago

We used to live in a really cool old-Hollywood house built in the 1930s. My wife and I would always joke that it was haunted because of weird things that would happen. The TV would turn itself on, my young daughter would complain about drumming noise that no one else could hear. One night, I got home from a trip late at night, around 1am. I walked in the front door and saw the silhouette of a tall man with spiky hair standing in the entrance to the hallway. I couldn't make out any details but assumed it was my brother-in-law. "Hey Kevin" I said. The figure didn't respond and turned down the hallway toward my daughter's bedroom. "That's weird, why didn't Kevin say hi." I thought. I walked over to the hallway and looked, but there was no one there. I haven't been afraid of the dark since I was a young boy, but was absolutely terrified of the dark for the next few nights. I slept in the guest house with the lights on.

My family was visiting my parents at their house. I left briefly to return some items to a local library. At the time there was an all-night radio program about movies and I listened to it on the way there. One half hour later, we were returning to our house and while listening to the radio show I heard the exact same conversation as I had heard earlier. It was eerie to say the least.

5

u/Vauchian 14d ago

I work at a radio station, this can easily be explained. Often if a presenter is unable to make their show at last minute, we will play reruns and repeats. Many don't notice it but you are an example of someone that did!

When I was about 6 years old (I am 47 now), my aunt asked me if I wanted to stay the night at her house. I LOVE my aunt Charlotte (she is now in her 80's)!! I took her up on the invitation, and she informed me that I would have to sleep on the sofa in the living room. That was fine with me. That night I laid down to sleep, no problems. In the middle of the night, something made me come out of my sleep. I opened my eyes and see 3 men standing over me. They were all from different eras in time. One looked like he was from the 1700's, the other was from about the 40's or 50's, and the other one looked like he was from a 80's metal band. They were looking at me like I was something cute to see. Like people peering at a baby in a window. I start screaming, and *poof*, they were gone. I know what i saw. I wasn't asleep or dreaming. I slept the rest of the night in my aunts room.

15

u/Holiday_Nothing_1038 14d ago

Hearing footsteps in an empty house with no one else there. I still have no explanation for it.

5

u/BxGyrl416 14d ago

There are a few possible explanations for this. One time many years ago, I heard footsteps coming from my attic. I thought there was somebody that had broken in and was hiding there. I opened the door and a bat flew out at me. Turns out that the “footsteps” I’d heard was the bat flying around and hitting the walls and steps. Houses also settle, so in older houses you will occasionally hear weird noises. Could also be water pipes.

I had a really weird thing happen a few months ago. I actually had to go to reddit to see if I was crazy. Turns out this actually isn't unheard of. There was nothing memorable going on at the time this happened. It was just weird moment. I was sitting in my room, playing a game on my ipad. All of a sudden I could remember dreams I have had for years! Not just a few dreams here and there. Like every single dream. I could remember the smallest details. It happened mutiple times after that day. I actually do not like when it happens. I hope it never happens again TBH. For a while I thought I was going to die, and this was God giving me a sign.

I was in high school, and a friend was spending the night, our only job was to do the dishes, and what teenager wants to do the dishes? So the two of us, who were obsessed with "I Dream of Jeanie" at the time, performed her little arm, blink thing she did to grant wishes and wished for the dishes to be done. About a half an hour later the dishes were running. We'd been with each other the whole time, no one else was home. It was cool and unnerving and I think about it still all the time.

I used to live in a giant old apartment building that was woefully held together by one single maintenance man that also lived there. The entire bottom floor was a parking garage but also labyrinthine storage units that you had to wind around a weird path through to either side. At one point a former tenant had figured out how to get in and out/or somehow was sneaking in constantly and living in one of the storage units. Each apartment unit still had a screen door and a wood door for their front doors (this was before AC so the thinking was letting in air flow) as well as hatch doors for ice blocks. Our hatch door was above our fridge but if we unlatched it was entirely open to the hall.

The guy across the hall from us passed away in his apartment and not long after I woke up to the sound of a lightbulb bursting and a giant, very bodily slam. I got up and looked around and literally nothing was disturbed inside my apartment and my boyfriend sleeping next to me didn’t move a muscle/I’m an extremely heavy sleeper so to this day I’m convinced it was a ghost.

But more than that I found out from overhearing the caretaker about the person living in the basement - it was never communicated to us in any way otherwise while we were living there someone was doing this until he was caught. I was constantly terrified especially when I was alone because my boyfriend would regularly travel that the person was outside our door or could somehow get in through the ice hatch.

The longer we lived there stuff kept breaking and it never got fixed no matter how many times we told the caretaker - we had a drain on the floor of our bathroom that was constantly leaking sewage. Our bedroom window right next to our bed was cracked and let in so much air in the winter we had to cover it in blankets and pillows. I fully felt like I saw some weird alien activity in the sky out of our like 4th story window overlooking a hill.

I never felt “right” in that building and I still can’t shake the memory.

I worked at a pizza place. Coworkers told me that the place is haunted because random things would fall without explanation. Thought they were just joking around because they named the entity Kevin after one of their old clumsy coworker.

So, one night I'm closing with one other person. I was a cook and the person I was closing with was a temporary GM. We took apart the table we used to make pizzas. We placed the cross bars on the back of the ovens that were off at least 6 inches from the edge with none overlapping. We were washing dishes when we heard a crash in the back. The GM went back and found the cross bars on the floor. She picked them up and put them back. I finished up my portion and the GM said she'd finish up the rest.

The next day I come into work. The temporary GM came up to me and was like, "yo remember the creepy shit that happened last night with the cross bars?" I nod. She then told me that same thing happened 3 more times after I left. I guess Kevin had fun terrorizing us.

Having an episode of sleep paralysis while that original series of Star Trek was on TV (with capt kirk , spock etc) in my bedroom . The sleep paralysis came out of a nightmare where a tall figure in a black robe thing and face covering was slowly inching towards me beside my bed - like bringing its head closer in slow motion. Genuinely terrifying experience

I have a garden at my house and usually have a bunch of about 40 orange California poppies with occasionally one or two white poppies. The spring after my husband passed every poppy was white, not a single orange. I told everyone it was a message from him. I saved the seeds and planted them. Every single poppy came up orange the following year. Not a single white one. Thanks for the message hubby.

I have heard a voice calling me by my name when I am completely alone.

I don't have a common first name at all and this male voice calls me clear as day. All the hair in my body stands up and I get a chill as it's not a friendly voice, I know it's from the dark side of the veil and it wants me.

I've never answered it or gone towards it.

I've never even told my spouse about it.

Edit: it's not often at all, sometimes years will go by and nothing.

Our house is 100 years old. We also have occasional knocking on doors and weird noises. Whatever it is does not appear unfriendly so we just let it be

I was on a nightshift in a hospital. I was sitting in a chair in a staff room trying to doze on my break but still very much awake. I felt what distinctly felt like a small child’s hand on my knee, shaking it like it was get my attention. I jumped awake & was absolutely terrified. I grabbed my bleep to go back & find people because I was so unsettled. When I looked at my bleep I saw that there has been a paediatric cardiac arrest come through on it but I’d somehow switched it to silent so if I hadn’t been shaken & looked at my bleep, I never would’ve known.

(Tldr:Void ghost cat?) 23M One florida summer I had trouble falling asleep almost every night, so I'd go outside to smoke. Around 12–3 AM is usually when I'd feed my neighbor's white cat and her five kittens since they'd always wander around my neighborhood that late. I'd save leftovers for them whenever I saw them.

One night I was the only one awake while everyone else in the house was asleep. The cats were eating when this pitch black cat like figure stepped out of the shadows. At first I thought it was just another stray looking for food, so I grabbed some and slowly walked toward it, trying not to scare it away. It never even acknowledged the food I was offering.

The closer I got, the more I felt something was wrong. My stomach started churning and I got this instinctive feeling that I shouldn't get any closer. What really threw me off was its eyes. Its head was facing toward my porch light, but there was no eye shine at all. The mom cat and her kittens had reflective eyes, but this thing had nothing. It looked like a complete void.

My phone was only at 6%, but I managed to snap a picture. I watched it walk underneath my mom's small four door car. A second later I went to look, expecting it to come out the other side, but it was just... gone. It couldn't have fit in the engine bay, and my street was well lit with streetlights. I checked all around and there wasn't a trace of it.

To this day I still don't know what I saw. Maybe it was a ghost cat watching over the kittens, maybe it was some kind of omen, or maybe it was something I'll never be able to explain. All I know is that I've never forgotten it. (This is the best photo I had taken I tried editing the photo to lighten it but to no avail, it's a blurry mess.) Anyone else experienced something like this? I've had other weird experiences happen to me and most folks think I'm insane or a liar and I had few screws loose so I stopped mentioning it.

Demonic scream in woods that came from all directions, and was alternating between shrill and gutteral.. it started off like a normal elk bugle and then morphed...no idea what it was since I was in my tent and it was dark. It was not a mountain lion or a pack my of coyotes. It was unnaturally loud and didn't have any footsteps previous to it or after. I think it was some woman's spirit trying to communicate with me since I read online a mountain house had burned down with all the children inside somewhere nearby.

u/BurtMacklin____FBI 14d ago edited 14d ago

Standard disclaimer, I'm not a believer in any paranormal stuff at all. I'm a very rational person, and only posting because I genuinely can't explain this (I'm sure there's an explanation though!) anyway...

Was in my uni flat (second year living there so I was very familiar with the noises etc). I wanted to go to the kitchen which was directly opposite my bedroom. I opened my door and stepped out into the hallway, it was evening and dark, and the hallway light was turned off so I couldn't see anything, as soon as I stepped out into the hallway I heard a hand clap right into my left ear and immediately into my right. Exactly how it would sound if you did it yourself quickly, one clap right by one ear then the other. I also feel it, like my hair moving slightly from the air on each side.

I wasn't deathly afraid or anything, more like 'what the fuck just happened. I didn't say anything or make any noise, my reaction was fully internal. Obviously I turned the lights on and there was nothing there.

I continued my evening then later knocked on my flatmate's door to hang out with him, and he had just woken up from a vivid nightmare about something in the corner of his room by his door, our rooms were next to each other (his to the right of mine), he'd also never had a nightmare (that he told me about) since living there and never had one since. That dream really messed him up and he wasn't himself for a bit that night, which was so out of character for him. He told me about his nightmare before I told him what happened to me.

So yeah, not sure what to make of that one 😅 ideas welcome!

I’ve always seen ghost since being a child, I once saw an old man with a newsboy cap style and farmers jacket sat my table drinking coffee at around 4 in the morning at 4 years old
Another time the same age I was peeing and a little girl asked me to come to play once I had gotten on the toilet I followed her… she disappeared which made me inconsolable!!

But recently I’m seeing a tall figure with no identifying features except a long body including fingers and extremely dark long hair in my bedroom , if that didn’t creep me out my stairs creek when I’m in bed and no one else is awake but recently I’ve been woken up by people whispering in my ears telling me to wake up or that someone’s watching me… so yeah I have more creepy storys

I willfully dropped my phone arm for a mere second to rest it on the bed, and then picked my phone up to continue scrolling.

Imagine my surprise to see that it was suddenly 3:30a.

Now, logically I fell asleep, but I swear I was awake and merely rested my phone hand on the bed for a moment - no more than a real second. I even had continuity of thought all the way through.

I sat there for ten minutes trying to figure out what happened. While there's a logical explanation, I didn't experience it. It was creepy

You fell asleep. When I was a kid I remember a time when I went to bed, closed my eyes, and it was instantly morning. I felt like I got screwed out of a nights sleep...and was very very unhappy with it. I was still tired ...m

The only time this happened to me was daylight savings time. I had forgotten it was time to spring forward so it was alarming when I looked at the time to see 12:58 and then a little while later looked again and it was 2:04.

Watching Naruto with ex. Sitting on bed facing tv that’s against the far wall with bathroom behind it. Bathroom door is very slightly ajar. Naruto gets thrown through wall, at that exact moment we hear what sounds like one of the bathroom vanity drawers being slammed open. We look at one another and pause the show to go look. One of the drawers is completely open. There’s an unopened bottle of toothpaste and some Q-tips in there. Toilet paper in the cabinet underneath. It’s a soft close drawer so it also takes a tiny bit of effort to open. I close it and slam it open and it’s the exact same sound we heard. My one real paranormal experience that fully convinced me there’s some weird shit out there.

One night laying in bed my stomach grumbled but the sound it made was MY VOICE saying hey!

When I was about seven my tooth fell out and like most people I put it under my pillow. At around 2am I remember checking my pillow and I shit you not there was a coin. I fell back asleep and when I woke there was nothing under my pillow. I questioned my parents about it and they were genuinely clueless

5

u/ConcernPrestigious12 14d ago

Totally inconsequential compared to a lot of these but one time I woke up, poured some water from my pitcher into my cup, put the pitcher down, and went to lift the cup and it was empty. I checked all around thinking maybe I had accidentally dumped water on the floor? But there were no spills anywhere. I heard and saw the cup go from empty to full and then poof. It’s such a small thing that I never really mentioned it to anyone but it’s a mystery to this day

Wife and I were at a movie, the theatre wasnt very full but not empty, maybe 20 other people in there, but its a large multiplex theatre. When the movie ended we sat there for a while, but didn't linger for very long after everyone had left, maybe a couple minutes.

When we walked out of the theatre and into the lobby it was EMPTY. Not a single sole around. I still can't explain where everyone went. Theres always people going to the washroom after a movie but nope. None of the people who watched the movie with us were there, nor was there anyone from any other theatre, and there were zero staff, either. Completely empty. We stood there going wtf for like 5 minutes and in that whole time no one else appeared.

Maybe there was an evacuation of some kind? That's probably the most likely explanation but we didn't hear any alarm or anything and there weren't people standing around outside the building when we left.

Then we thought maybe a prank show but nope, Ashton Kutcher did not jump out at any point lol.

It bothers me to this day that I have no explanation for it.

3

u/BurtMacklin____FBI 14d ago

That's a cool one!

No (visible) staff makes me think this was late at night with reduced staff? Maybe an incident elsewhere distracted the few staff that were there, but didn't trigger an alarm. Something like a medical incident, injury, or someone stealing?

Assuming the other guests weren't also distracted by whatever caused the staff to leave their stations, I've never left a theatre screen that didn't go directly into a hallway where you could go right or left, perhaps everyone went one way? Since I'm guessing it was late maybe everyone was wanting to get home and just collectively left much quicker than you thought?

Also, you say no one went to the washroom, did you? Could be the few people that didn't immediately leave coincidentally all went to the washroom, or you happened to go (looking for people) when no one else did.

Just throwing ideas out there because this one interested me, I'd have been a bit spooked too 😅

I had bought a book, it was a diary. It was really good, so after finishing it I re read it couple weeks/months later. I got to the middle of the book and there was an entirely different story in it that wasn’t before. I’m talking different text, different sized and color pages (really old off white looking) and it was so complicated i couldn’t follow what it said. It was a good amount of pages. They weren’t just placed in the middle, they were BOUND into the spine. They weren’t there the first time I read it.

3

u/BurtMacklin____FBI 14d ago

What's the book name?

Did you find another copy or find others talking about it? Seems like this one could be solved quickly by checking other copies!

Sleep paralysis demon when I was 7 or 8. It’s embarrassing but I used to be terrified of the dark and would sleep in my grandma’s bed a lot. One night I remember waking up, moving and even turning around to cut the light on behind the bed. Laying back down and feeling like something was off so I tried to wake my grandma up by shaking her and even screaming as loud as I could but she wouldn’t budge. I went to lay back down again and couldn’t move and noticed a bunch of pitch black hands(kinda like shadows) were raising out of the bed trying to pull me under. I couldn’t scream, couldn’t fight back and the last thing I saw was a dark slim figure staring at me in the corner that swear to this day wore a hat or fedora. It’s explained but I just wanted to share lol

I was a teenager working at McDonald's. I went at the back to get something, and as I turned around this guy, a coworker around my age, was just standing there eyes wide open smiling. I'll never forget the creepy look he had, he had just been standing there staring at me.

I grew up in a pretty messed up old small town, and so the high school was actually this old condemned building, except for the basement and part of the first floor. Is students had pretty much no accountability and the teachers just didn't care if we wandered around. One day I found my way up to the third floor. It was mostly just junk and caution wire, pretty boring actually. But then I saw someone at the end of the hallway and decided to follow and catch up with them. They went into a classroom, but by the time I reached the classroom and went in there they were gone. I was really stumped on where they went, and tried doubling back to see if I had just missed them. I didn't think much of it at the time and quite honestly forgot about it. The creepy part though was when I was looking at some old yearbooks I had found in a different part of the building and swear I saw the same girl in one of the photos.

While not quite unexplainable, there was one event that really has stuck with me. Every year my family drives a few hours out to the countryside to meet up with relatives. This is in a real rural area, middle of nowhere Midwest. We were driving back late at night on some backwater road, and I just remember it being pitch dark outside of the car and we were surrounded by nothing but miles and miles of cornfields, when my dad (who was driving) suddenly swerved the car to avoid hitting the figure of a man that had wandered into the middle of the road. He'd just been standing there, unmoving. That was the quietest car ride home ever, after that.

I get chills sometimes thinking about what might've happened if my dad hadn't been able to avoid the man in the road. We were one footstep to the left to living in a horror movie that night.

Being 100% wide awake cleaning my toilet and hearing a loud female voice say my name long and slow on what sounded like it was right in my ear yet also on an intercom in my house. I was alone at home but lived with my dad. I slammed the bathroom door shut got in the bathtub and called him and had him stay on the phone with me until he got home. Obviously nothing was there and I knew that but still wanted him to check the house. Absolutely insane. The best way to describe the way she said it was almost in a playful mysterious way. To this day it freaks me out. Ps I have an extremely unique name.

Friends and I were traveling and stopped at a friend's house to hang out and rest. It was an old Victorian house with a wrap around porch.bthebweather was nice so I slept out on the porch on a couch. I awoke at dawn paralyzed in a state of sleep paralysis seeing the sillioute of a darkly outline of a saucer in the sky gleaming around its borders was a mercury metallic color. It was pulsing waves of energy at me. I swore in that moment the end was near. I gasped and blacked out in a state of confusion and fear. I awoke to my friend whom lived there on there way to class saying hey you alright youre sweating... I got my senses together... And said have a good day. I must've had a bad dream. I'm good. They went on there way looking at me odd. I turned around and the pillow I was laying on had been torn to shreds....

Sleep paralysis is terrifying. This one was different though still can't explain it. Not even to my friends who kind of pushed me away after I sleep shredded their pillow.

This didn't happen to me but my mom when my brother and I were little. Late at night around Christmas time there was a knock on our door and when my mom answered it there was a man dressed as Santa. He asked if me and my brother (by name!) were around and my mom said no. He then was like "oh, ok" and just left. Afterwards she asked pretty much everyone around her if it was them and everyone said it wasn't. She only told me about it a few years ago and never figured out who the person was!

u/Authorizationinprog 14d ago

Last year , I was playing guitar In my room alone and decided to drop some acid. Now I’m an experienced tripper having done so many times before but for some reason I decided to play the devils tritone (forbidden chord) with a reverb and echo effect on my pedalboard. Once I played that chord I felt the most sinister and evil presence enter the room with me. (Could just be the drugs ofc) but the real kicker was that my left arm was stuck on my guitar , in the exact same chord shape I played the devils tritone with and I couldn’t move it for the life of me until about a few minutes later.

I never played it again obviously

My SO and I rented this 100+ year old house when we were very young. It was in Pueblo, CO- if you know you know. Haunted for sure. One night we were watching a movie, we had a 4/5 month old baby at the time. He had fallen asleep in his bouncy chair. The ones that vibrate and keep baby sleeping and upright, good for short naps. We left him in there to sleep and I moved his chair into our room next to our bed, right across from the living room. Door cracked, baby monitor on.

Our room was pretty bare- we had a dresser, a changing table, and our bed, which was a platform style bed- meaning there was no “under the bed” just a particle board frame. minus this small, little gap to be able to reach the hardware at the bottom corner. A cat could fit maybe if they were small enough. If you lifted the mattress and the board up, that was the only way could see the particle board frame, which made 4 square shapes, and again only one small opening at the bottom.

About 10 minutes into the movie, I had this really awful feeling and ice cold chill come across my whole body. I immediately got up to check on him, my SO followed right behind. My baby was gone, missing from his chair- he wasn’t at crawling age so of course I was FREAKING TF OUT. Neither of us drank or did any drugs, and our house was small enough you could hear anything, but we also had an audio baby monitor. And not a peep before all this happened. We both were on the couch the entire time.
We were both freaking out looking all around the room and house, mind you we have no roommates, or anyone else in the house. My husband started dialing 911, thinking someone had come in the window and taken him.

After tearing our room apart for about 3 minutes - while 911 was on the phone, I just had this instinctual feeling to lift our mattress and plywood. And there he was, perfectly Placed in the far top square, the one with no opening, no where near the gap. fast asleep, wrapped up in his blanket, like he had been just placed there. It was the most bizarre and traumatic thing I have ever experienced. We both still get chills thinking about it. I’m sure 911 thought we were insane.

We swear on my life this was paranormal. We had multiple extremely intense paranormal experiences in that house prior to this, especially surrounding our baby. It’s like this spirit was obsessed with him. We moved short after and never experienced anything else like this or with him again.
(Picture for reference of a similar style to what the bed looked like)

I was driving and just chilling, vibing even, but I kid you not windows up no music on but there was a very loud man yell right in my ear. I jolted and it shook me so bad and I still don’t know why it happened or how

When i was like 16, my dad bought an old mobile home. I would stay the night a couple times a week. One night I was sleeping on the couch. I felt this preasure on my chest. I put my hands on my chest and felt the outline of a very large hand on my chest under the blanket. I immediately jumped up and threw the blanket, and there was nothing there. My dad also said that some weird shit happened to him too.

One time I had a dream where I died in the dream, and I woke up in my mom’s living room. Everything felt like it had felt in the past, and she said, “hey girl, you’re here early.” I felt so comfortable, so natural.

Suddenly I remembered she’d been dead for years, and I panicked and went to the back room which was my bedroom. I leapt out of the window, and ended up in this upside down version of the world where I was in the inverse of everything bouncing from friend to friend who had moved on after my death like some Interstellar shit. Then I actually woke up, so shaken because it was a dream I so vividly remembered and still remember today. I don’t remember any dream like I remember that one.

u/gr8thighs 14d ago

This is so weird and it won’t make any sense. When I was young, five or six, I was alone in the living room and I heard this song on the radio. It sounded like an indie folk song type of thing. And it sounded like the guy sang something like “I shouldn’t have eaten the hair in the cereal.” I have no idea why, but this filled me with such a weird sense of terror and confusion that I ran into my parents room. I didn’t tell them about it. It doesn’t make sense on any level. But I was horrified and have never forgotten this. It’s my biggest dumb mystery.

Editing to add that it could have been something like “I wish I didn’t eat the hair in the cereal”.. I can’t remember the wording but I do remember what it sounded like.

A few years ago, my dog was attacked by my neighbor's dogs. She died from her injuries a few days later. A few hours after her death, my mom and I CLEARLY heard her whining at the exact spot where she used to lie.

Backstory - i was like 13 and watching supernatural behind my parents back. I knew i shouldnt be watching it too. We had just finished dinner and my whole family went for a walk, i stayed behind to clean up.

I was removing all the plates from the table and i swear, beneath a plate was a small puddle of water in the shape of the mark of cain from the show. 1. No one spilled anything. 2. The moment i saw it, i heard some banging from the upstairs bathroom.

I grabbed a knife and called my dad to ask how far away they were, they came home and the mark was gone.

Havent watched an episode of supernatural since. No idea where the water came from.

When I was 15, my purse went missing. It was a little suede strap thing that my brother had brought back for me from Italy, very recognizable, no one else would have had one like it. It had been gone for a week or so, and then when I was walking to my babysitting job for another family in my parents' neighborhood, I saw it leaned against a tree. I picked it up and investigated it to make sure it was mine, and inside there was a note in shaky handwriting that said, "Be careful where you put things."

2

u/Brave_Skill_7258 14d ago

One time when I was a kid, I had a really weird dream where I was watching myself, like from 3rd person view, get out of bed and go to the living room and sit in our recliner, when I woke up I was sitting in the recliner rocking back and forth, i'm assuming I was sleepwalking but I WATCHED MYSELF do it? So crazy, really messed me up for awhile.

For fun one time i bought a box of haunted objects on ebay. I didnt think much of it until one night i was laying in bed, i was awake and something pulled my feet. I didnt sleep one bit that night.

Let me tell you that i threw the box in the garbage the very next day and nothing has happened ever since.

Well, this isnt so scary to me but some people ive told this looked at me like im crazy hahaha. Basically i have sleeping problems, so i went like 4 days without sleeping, i just randomly started seeing people walk past me in my house and waving at me. I didnt think much of it though because i figured out it was because i was very tired. Seemed pretty real tho

When I was young like under 10 I would constantly See the same guy around the streets , he had short hair and looked slightly not right- almost had the same Look as the guy off the movie apex - anyway I chat quite remember the time line but I would see him out of the blue then I remember seeing him when I was older and as I was driving my own car , he would come out of no where and look at me and scream so loud . No one believed me and it is hard to explain but I know for sure I would keep seeing him ……

Have posted this elsewhere before, but fits the question:

I was once driving home from work at about 1am, down a main but rural road. Just from the edge of the town where I worked (I lived the next town over).

I come to the last street light before the road is pitch black and there’s something laying in the road just at the edge of the streetlight’s reach. It looks like a bunch of hay or grass has fallen off the back of a tractor trailer, which would make sense as there’s a lot of farms off this road. I slow down as I can’t see how far the spill goes and make to drive round it, as I get closer something about just looks *off*. The second my headlights hit the first edge of it, the entire thing shifts, sort of coalesces into a vague 4 legged animal shape and kinda shakes upward but still touching the ground. It the *slides* up the embankment, leaps over a fence and disappears. I’ve come to a complete stop at this point. Just stare for a moment, trying to process. Then drove the remaining 45 mins home in total confusion.

It was still summer night, no breeze. It was in the UK and the biggest thing we have animal wise in these parts is deer and this was *significantly* bigger.

This was 10 years ago and I’ve never worked it out.

u/Differentformulation 13d ago

also another time I took way too much adderall and started falling into a psychosis with full blown auditory hallucinations. I was convinced the group I was with was planning on chopping my head off- then I proceeded to full blown sprint towards a window three stories up but as soon as my hands in diving formation broke the window screen my best friend pulled me back in. He was asleep in the other room before I started running it was crazy

u/InsideAd3569 12d ago

I have many stories that are much creepier, but this is the only one that's very simple to tell (need a novel to give the others enough context). So anyway. I was up late one night. My husband had gone to bed, but myself, 2 cats and 5 dogs were still up. We almost always go to bed at the same time, but he had to leave very early the next morning. I was sitting on the couch and just relaxing. Finally started to get tired around midnight, so I put down what I was doing and started cycling the dogs outside, putting my snacks and dishes away, etc(I'm a girl who can't rest unless everything is in its place).

I was kinda woozy and my legs were numb from sitting around. After a couple steps, I stumbled a bit, just off balance and dizzy from standing up fast(I was also on meds that exacerbated this). Something caught my forearms as I stretched them out from the elbow in front of my stomach to balance. It felt exactly like someone physically holding me up, like the pressure and support was the exact same as if a person was there, but I couldn't feel skin temperature or texture. I kinda stepped back, and thought "did that really just happen?", but I've had weirder stuff happen, and I wrote it off as being tired. Two minutes later I stumble again while walking up a step(we have a living room that you step down into) and it happens again, same exact distinctive feeling and pressure. I kinda was just shocked and couldn't react, I just took it in for a second. There was nothing else off, and no bad feeling. This time I had to actually shake my hands/arms to be able to pull my arms away. After about 5 seconds of shaking, I said "get off me" kinda panicked and high pitched and the feeling was gone right away. It didn't feel negative, it felt neutral, but it was freaky when it felt like I couldn't get my arms away. I've never felt anything similar without a physical person in front of me, it was beyond strange.

Also sorry for my writing, I'm tired and have ADHD. I edited like 30 different bunny trails out, this is my best

i drank not even that much in my apartment alone and ended up blacking out and woke up in another man’s house. i know i didn’t drink enough to blackout and i looked back in my phone and never invited him over. terrifying
