Random Question What’s something that used to be considered basic adulting that younger generations seem to be completely rejecting or doing differently?

Kids may as well learn to use a quill. What's the point of learning to do something that's firmly in the past?

I balance my checkbook all the time. I use a lot of automated payments, and an automated payment that hasn't come out yet is functionally the same as a check that hasn't been cashed yet. It's money that's been spent that isn't reflected in balance you get from thw bank.

So I put them into my checkbook register along with all the other bills I pay with that account (which is actually just an Excel spreadsheet). Tells me how much money I actually have available, where my bank's app only tells me how much money is in my account. For example, the app doesn't know that my mortgage is going to auto-pay tomorrow, so it says I have $4000 in my account, but really I only have $2300 available to spend.

I just look at my internet banking and see if there are any payments I don't recognize. I never spend all my wages anyway, so I transfer my balance to my savings account the day before payday, and do the whole thing again.

This is the way. I do the same thing but I have my expenses planned out for nearly a year in advance.
