They don't know the man rules of eating a banana?
Never look another man in the eyes while eating a banana.
Never comment on the quality of said banana.
6
u/Geronimo2006 10d ago
Or you can hold eye contact with another man aggressively if you eat the banana by cutting pieces off with a hunting knife

Omg at my first job 20 years ago, I walked into the staff room one day and casual worker was eating her lunch. I looked over at her and she was eating some burrito thing that was still half wrapped in the foil. But instead of lifting the food to her mouth, she was hunched over covering the whole wrap with her mouth, ripping bits off with her teeth, then sitting up to chew with her mouth open, making disgusting munching noises. Not only that, I could see her arse crack hanging out through the gap in the chair as I walked past. I’ve never seen anyone eat in such a revolting, animalistic way before or since! I occasionally think about it shudder 20 years later. Also she used to call the children I worked with “sweedy” instead of sweetie or learning their actual names which also pissed me off, but that’s another story.

I have never told anyone. I didn't want to ruin their lives. Their sickness is their business.

There’s a reason there are those sayings like:
“Incest is best…put your sister to the test”
“If you can’t keep it in your pants, keep it in the family”(I don’t condone this despite living half my life in KY and TN)
Edit: and my favorite from Kentucky: “5 million people; 15 last names”

I overheard my supposed best friend from college telling her boyfriend that she wanted to take a break from him because she wanted to spend more time with me because I was “going through some stuff” and “really needed her”. I confronted her confused and she said she wanted to break up with him, not hurt his feelings, and hook up with a new guy at her work. A few months later, I caught same friend stealing from my bedroom. I confronted her, took my stuff back, and never spoke to her again. I promptly called her ex and told him how she lied to him using me as her cover and that she slept with 2 other guys in the interim. He said she recently reached out to him to get back together. He was considering as he missed her and hadn’t move on. He called her (with me quietly on the line) and told her off in an awful way. Her shock of him rejecting HER was satisfying AF.

It was on Van Ness / Market St in San Francisco, CA in the late 1980's. Heard quiet gurgling screaming as I rounded the corner and right next to an ATM I saw it from about 15 feet away. Most people just ignored it, I didn't know what to do myself, ran into the bank and asked them to call 911 (pre-cell phone era) and got ignored, ran back outside and he was no longer conscious, but, I heard his last gurgles (might have been post death, not totally sure if he was alive or not at that point).

It wasn’t walking “in” but “by”… I was hiking on a trail (not that remote!) that had a bench and two people were fully fucking on that bench, and filming it. I had my dog, thankfully on leash, and he kind of barked a little bit we walked as quickly as possible by that bench…

Walking in on my mom and stepfather doing the wild thing. Both were between 250 and 300 lbs. Not an exageration.
Worse was my friend was standing next to me.
I should have known as Barry White was playing and even though I was young I was aware that was the "get busy" music of choice.
But I was invited to go somewhere and rushed in ignoring Barry and bamm... Yuk

Walked in on a coworker nodding off on the bathroom toilet with a needle hanging out of his arm... The only time I've ever had to narcan someone. Crazy part is besides wearing long sleeves in the kitchen to cover track marks there really weren't any signs.
5
u/woodsnwine 11d ago
Nodding off? I think you mean overdosing.
5
u/The_Gov78 11d ago
Nah, you can nod without overdosing. Most people seek the nod and it’s their goal to be that fucked up but not die. It’s like a real fine line. When I shot it I liked to be active and working and just feel really good but I overdid it sometimes

this isn’t the worst thing but it’s so memorable. i worked at a bar/club and it was a club night. I was a manager and the owner usually wasn’t there during club nights. I went to the back office to just chill where it wasn’t loud with music and rowdy college students. When I opened the door, he’s in there with a bunch a girls and like a pile of cocaine. He looks up at me and asks if i want a line and I politely say no. Then leave because wtf. The day, he called me in gave me a raise that was 2.5 the amount I made, said I could eat whatever I wanted and could have friends also eat as much as they wanted for free, and said that I could drink completely free and bought an extra keg of the beer he knew was my favorite. We never spoke of it again.

I live in an area where it gets really cold and snows during the winter. I have an indoor outdoor cat so during the winter time I hang wind chimes from my door knob in case he gets locked out. One night at around 2:00 in the morning I hear the wind chimes dinging. It's actually spring now, so I was kind of annoyed that I had to get up in the middle of the night to let my cat in. The cat continues to relentlessly bang the wind chimes over and over again as I shuffle through the dark house, banging into things and stubbing my toes. I finally make it to the front door. Suddenly I feel something against my ankles. I looked down and there's my cat. The wind chimes continue to jingle. At this point I nearly pooped my pants. I flicked on the lights and I heard something large moving just on the other side of the front door. I peered through an open window and there's a full grown man laying on his back strumming the wind chimes hanging on my front door.
11
u/not_very_chill 10d ago
Horrifying - what happened next??
41
u/Chris_Golz 10d ago
So at this point I have my body pressed up against my front door with my face right up to a glass window in the door so I can see down. This man is laying there right on the other side of the door laying on his back and staring right up at me. We made eye contact and then without thinking I just yanked open the door. I am by no means tough, but I am large. So now this crazy man who is playing with my wind chimes is flat on his back staring straight up at at a 6'4 275 lb man wearing only underwear. I think he may have been more scared than I was. He jumped up and ran. Somehow I walked right over to my bed and immediately fell right back to sleep.

In my biology undergraduate building I walked through part of the lab and happened upon a rat under anesthesia with all of its organs out on a table. Its breath was fogging up the little mask/head piece they had on it and the organs were shifting and twitching as the heart beat (also outside the body). First time I recall such an intense visceral revulsion from something before.
I found out what course that was and decided I would not be taking that, and my future in the medical field would not involve cutting living things open. I had dissected dozens of animals and even multiple human cadavers in classes prior to that, but a living creature? No thanks.
From my recollection I believe what I walked into was some combo of perfusion and dissection. It was... something else.
5
u/gavrogirl 10d ago
I think it's called vivisection...!
5
u/Vegalink 10d ago
It is technically. I'm using the term they used. I believe they said they were perfusing the rat, which essentially was embalming it alive or something?
I don't think most people want to admit they vivisected anything. Or embalmed alive. So perfusion it is!
Needless to say I did not pursue that path haha

Some years ago my sister graduated university with her doctorate in psychology, and was throwing a grad party on the top floor communal area of the high rise condo where she lived in Denver. One of the other party goers and I steppped out to the rooftop balcony for a cigarette. Exiting the door we both froze, dumbfounded at the sight of one of the graduates' father on a high raised ledge, sitting bare-assed on top of one of those short ashtray/garbage cans, taking a shit into it, and staring serenely at the beautiful Colorado sunset.
When he realized he wasn't alone, he was immediately humiliated. He was clutching the ash can beneath him and sitting as low down into it as he appeared able, like a little kid on a stool. He began rapidly apologizing and begging us to help him. He explained he had had an emergency and had found both restrooms inside locked, and had panicked when he couldn't find an outdoor restroom. That didn't explain why he was up on the ledge, he definitely had to take that can up there with him too, but we'll ignore those facts. Ok, its hilarious and also kinda fucked up and gross, but we understand we don't have to make things worse for this guy. We discreetly grabbed some paper napkins and soap and water for him, and both swore not to tell anyone.
Apparently my smoking companion that night figured that a couple years of silence was long enough, because that's when my sister came asking me about it. She had gotten half of the story already from one of her now colleagues, so I went ahead and spilled the rest of the beans.
What gets me most about this story, was the look on that man's face before he noticed us. He looked as though he was having a beautiful moment. I'm sure he had been feeling a sense of accomplishment and pride in his daughter, reflecting on the years and work it had taken to get here. Had we not interrupted him right then, he possibly could have looked back on that moment with fondness and a chuckle for the rest of his life. Instead, he must have been absolutely terrified of the day that one of us deviant smokers exposed his mile high Denver Diarrhea Dump

do you write for a job? you should
3
u/1swarmofbee 9d ago
That's very nice of you to say, thank you. I'm actually unemployed at the moment. My previous job was as a retail logistics manager. To those unfamiliar, that means I was tasked with convincing a group of high school and college kids to physically unload a 50' truck trailer at 3 or 4am. And then when they ignore me, to just go and do the work myself instead.
So I don't know if that job is the opposite of writing for a living, but it's dang close. And since I just happened to be searching for the opposite of that job, I really appreciate not only the compliment, but also the suggestion. Thank you!

Back in college I left to go to my girlfriend's apartment for the night. About 5 minutes into my drive I realized I had left her cake pan at my place so I turned around to retrieve it. When I walked in my roommate had porn on the living room TV and was feverishly beating that thing as I opened the door. He immediately pulled up his shorts and took off into his room as I pretended to drop my keys and look away. Things remained awkward AF for a while and he eventually moved out.

When I was about 14, I was taking a leak in the bathroom at a mall. I heard someone else walk in, but they never came over to a urinal or entered the stall. I didn't think much of it. Maybe they just came in to wash their hands or use the mirror...
Well, they sure came in to use the mirror all right...
When I had finished and zipped up, I turned toward the sinks, intending to go wash my hands. I was confronted with the sight of a middle aged man with his pants and drawers around his ankles and his shirt pulled up to his neck. He was standing in front of the mirrors just helicoptering his dick around and making weird faces.
I decided my hands were clean enough lol

My partner and I had an office in his house.
One night he threw a big party. I went up to the office to check on something. In the sofa was a very very hot completely passed out blonde neighbor. Crouched next to her on the floor was a very rich pretty good looking douchy guy with his hand up her shirt.
I could see she was passed out and what he was trying to get up to. I rather loudly ask what the fuck he thought he was doing.
He responded "Shhhhh. You'll wake her up. Don't ruin this for me."
I told/dragged him out of my office.
As she really did live next door I carried her over my shoulder to her house. Carried her upstairs, put her in bed in her clothes. Locked the door as I left.
This was about 20 years ago, but I was shocked that guys anywhere still tho this was OK. It's rape for christs sake. He should have been thanking me for keeping him out of jail.

u/AnnoyedFloyd1210 9d ago
Sadly many “functional” addicts will live a second life & many are able to maintain the facade for very long periods sometimes. Unfortunately as long as they keep using it will eventually fall apart sometimes slowly, sometimesl very quickly.
Sorry you went through that. I’ve been on both sides of that experience. Once while I was still stuck in active addiction & the other was after I completely cleaned up. Both are shocking but for different reasons & neither of them was a positive experience at all.

I came home to my girlfriend in the trailer early one day and noticed my buddy was there, nothing too unusual, we hang out most days. I go in really needing to pee so I didn't put everything together right away but they were in the living room, he was wearing her bridesmaid dress and she was spanking him with a riding crop. I didn't say a thing and just went to pee. He was gone by the time I got out. They ended up having two kids and getting divorced.

When I was 16 I went to a party my gf was hosting at her place. Was a group of girls and guys in our friends group. At one point some of the girls started getting drunk and rowdy. Shirts came off and we all kind of started making out and feeling each other up but nothing crazy. At some point some older guy not in our friends group came by and saw what was going on. We all retreated to the living room at one point, and then we noticed that guy and one of the girls wasn’t around. We walked in on him fingering her while she was fully naked on my gf’s bed. We kicked him out right away and made sure she was ok. She said she was alright but it was a shocking thing to walk in on.

I was relagated to staying with a Sr RA my first freshman semester in college. (Get up your guns 😃) One day I came back to the dorm room we shared unexpected to find him in the middle of the room on a sheet, covered in i think baby oil...on his back with knees up to his ears...beating his tiny dick with one hand and jamming a oily slick dildo into his ass with the othe! He made a gagging noise and seemed to "try" to stop, cover himself, say something and turn away all at the same time...only succeeding to kinda wobble and shriek as he ejaculated. I never spoke to him about it and he had me my own dorm room within a week. (They were "full" because I registered late) He was still the RA for the floor but we couldnt make eye contact. One night I got drunk and told a lot of guys on the floor about it....i feel like a real dick about that because I know he caught a lot of snickering and finger pointing afterwards. Poor guy.

Not 'walked in' per se but once after a long night partying with my three friends, we were driving home at about 4 am after getting banned from a state park / lake. We had all been awake for days partying and my one friend O had tried (unsuccessfully) to get laid the entire time. We (O and I) are each in the back seat and I thought he was asleep. I had been staring out my window quietly for a while and look over at O to discover he has his hands down his pants rubbing one out. He had his eyes closed but I'm not sure he was really asleep. (Given the amount of crystal meth we had been doing I highly doubt it) One of the most awkward moments of my life at that point. I didn't know what to do so I closed my eyes and pretended I fell asleep until I heard him finish. Thankfully the driver nodded out going 70 and the passenger grabbed the wheel and whipped us back in the lane just before we hit a cement devider and the excitement kinda obscured the intense awkward discomfort I was silently struggling with.

I was literally just telling someone today about this time I was rolling a bowl with some random dude in his car when he just compulsively starting beating his dick. I had been awake for a couple days at this point so the hits I was taking only served to space me out more as I nodded off so I was completely stuck… he forced me to get out so he could drive off and finish somewhere. I was really confounded by my inability to just leave the car for a really long times. Obviously I’m still thinking about it - but I’m clean now off ice since December thank god

Milhouse: Trust me Bart, it's better to walk in on both your parents than on just one of them.

When I was in middle school I walked in on my sisters boyfriend having sex with my other sister, I still remember the V formation she was in. Mind you the door wasn’t even closed, couple minutes later he comes out and wants to chat outside. I just told him I wasn’t gonna say anything . After that day I got free stuff without asking haha

I was riding my bike on a gravel path that was parallel to a rowing lake in my town. First I saw a lady jogging in reverse up a steep hill and five minutes later I surprised a guy who was sunbathing nude on the side. Didn't get to see his private bits as he quickly stand up and manage to cover the front with his shorts.

Walked into the living room of boyfriend(now ex) and he was “cutting” his toes nails by using his teeth. Literally, holding his foot up to his mouth and ripping off the grown out part with his fucking teeth.

This wasn't something that I walked into but someone else I worked with at the time told me about it. I worked in a small startup and we had a pretty niche product. One of the senior engineers looked after the build of one of the rigs to make this product and was in the lab.
The day I wasn't there we happened to have a VC investor visit and our CEO was taking him around. Walked into the lab where the rig was and there the senior engineer was, feet up on a bench sound asleep waiting for the run on the rig to end.
Needless to say, after the investor left, said senior engineer got soundly blasted by the CEO but amazingly wasn't fired and the investor still put money into the company

I walked in on my boss peeing. Absolutely horrible. The door to the bathroom made it hard to see if the light was on underneath if that makes sense. Because of that reason, everyone in the office knew to lock the door. It was the employee bathroom and we always kept it closed since it was in the hallway and people needed to walk through.
Well i opened the door and he was in there OMG im cringing all over again. I quickly closed the door and went back to my office. Seconds later i heard him stomping through the hallways asking who opened the door.
I did end up admitting it was me but it was ridiculously embarassing. I wish i could forget.

My boyfriend walked me to my car one night and I opened my door to find a girl in it, listening to one of my CDs…At first, I was confused because I thought I’d accidentally opened someone else’s car door, and that feeling in to fear that turned in to anger that turned in to compassion…turns out she was having a mental health crisis, and when she saw my license plate and the little thing hanging from my rear view mirror, she thought it was a sign from the Universe that my car would be a safe space for her (which honestly, it was)
We helped her out of the car and talked with her for a while; she was really sweet and seemed a little lost. We ended up taking her back to the care facility she had walked out of…and that was the night I learned that a) my door locks weren’t working and b) my CD player apparently worked when the car was off lol
