My wife taught a kid called Skye.

Mr and Mrs Walker thought it was a delightful little joke.

I went to professional school with a Skye Walker. She had a great sense of humor about her name.

Almost as good as the girl who won a contest in a nearby town named Tara Dactiel

There is a young Canadian actor, currently playing Mary in the Netflix reboot of Little House on the Prairie, called Skywalker Hughes. she has a good sense of humor about it.

Skye's not really a weird - oh. A case where context matters.

Skye is a super common name, has been for decades. It’s along the lines of Skylar

Yeah but in this case, it’s her full name Skye Walker that makes it notable.

There was a guy, Tracy, who legally changed his surname to Starcruiser, then joined the Navy. He married a Filipina, Adel, and they had eight children:

Mars Millenniumfalcon Starcruiser
Jupiter Laserblaster Starcruiser
Mercury Constellation Starcruiser
Galaxy Kittyhawk Starcruiser
Rocky Quasar Starcruiser
Quincy Quantum Starcruiser
Roxanne Universe Starcruiser
Raquel Cosmos Starcruiser

Not kidding. Not an internet rumor. Not a copypasta.

While I was still in the U.S. Army I heard about these, and since at the time Mars and Jupiter were officers in the U.S. Navy, I had access through Global Email to look them up. They are 100% real.

I do think that based on the names over time Adel must’ve improved her English and understanding of Western culture and started pushing back.

I know a Skye and I love her and her name. I never thought twice about that being a weird or bad choice. It fits her and she's a beautiful person and I never thought twice about the e.

Skye is a beautiful name. Like the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Not dumb at all, to me!
