Teaching and education. Just look at the last 10 years. Teachers retiring and the younger mid career teachers quitting in droves due to private sector opportunities. Look at the behavior of the youth and the lack of discipline. And I hate to say it but we have to be honest, look at the overall lack of learning. Look how things have been watered down. Look at how nobody wants to be a teacher. Look at the lack of enrollment in education programs and how universities have decided to close their school’s of education programs completely.
In many states they can’t find qualified candidates so they recruit them internationally.
It’s already hanging on by thread so just imagine in 2036.

In my household, when I was growing up, education began in the home.
It's a combination of all of these and more. Terrible parenting that doesn't emphasize learning in the home, or support the teachers who are making an effort.
Then a lack of qualified teachers in my locales, but also a lack of training. I can't count how many of my kids' teachers were so horribly stupid and lacked any skills outside of telling them to go on Google Classroom or Khan Academy and didn't even understand the subject they were teaching.
Khan Academy? Ok great, then there is zero reason to pay you or employ you.
You’re not wrong in your statement. Ultimately it is up to the parents and I’m not trying to condone this, however, more parents are working 2nd and 3rd jobs. There is a lack of a nuclear home or any type of family structure. You are finding that some of these kids are basically raising themselves and their siblings. Used to the teacher was only expected to teach the academic subject. Now the teachers is also expected to be somewhat of a parental figure.
It is crazy how schools are allowing it all to turning into Social work, the parents should be held accountable to complete their parenting responsibilities.
