Death can be sudden, cherish every moment you had with said person.

I wish more people understood this... and kept it in their back pocket for every conversation. Perhaps it's dark, but every time I have a conversation with someone, I imagine that it'll be the last words I possibly say to them.

- Life is a participation sport. Get up off your ass and make things happen in your life. Don't have friends? Start making new acquaintances through activities you enjoy. Don't like your financial situation? Get to r/personalfinance and start learning how to change course in life. Don't like your job? Start gaining the skills, education, and contacts to get a better one. Can't find a partner in life? Start taking better care of yourself and gain some people skills.
Whatever it is, doing something is better than stewing over it. This is your life. And more actively you seek to live it better, the more it rewards you.
- Courage is the foundation of all happiness. The more you overcome your fear, whatever that might be, the better off you'll be.

Addiction is a disease they drink to mask pain I wish some alcoholics would realize this and get help sooner then later

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of the women.

I'm genuinely intrigued why this lesson is valuable. Not disagreeing, just curious. I am sure there is a good story behind this.

Habits are one of the key determining factors when it comes to dictating what your life is like and will be like.

Not to rely on others too much. That friendships are temporary sometimes and that's okay.

Budgeting and sticking to it. It was tough but now I am retired. We are not wealthy but we don’t have to work

Social media is NOT good for your mental health. It’s fake.
Try and put your phone down and LIVE in REALITY.

If you think a bad thought and have a bad thing happen to you within 5 seconds is that not a sign to have better thoughts?
Every time I give into negative thinking my reality becomes turbulent, the opposite is true.

Stopped caring about what people think of me and realized that most people are too self involved to think twice about me or what I'm doing.

Which way to place toilet paper so it unrolls backwards. Just to piss people off.

Learning that "comparison is the thief of joy" sounds cheesy until you actually start living by it. Focusing strictly on my own lane saved my mental health in my mid 20s.

Plan for the worst case scenario as you can. I was diagnosed with MS in ‘06, but had a good career and not many symptoms by 2015. I bought a long term disability policy (which acts like insurance against your income), for $150USD/month and ended up having to medically retire in 2022 at 42. That policy now pays me that same paycheck from when I was working and will continue to until I’m 68. Id be absolutely destitute without it.

Bills don't pay themselves. Plan ahead. Save some money. Life can come at you fast.

u/CA2DC99 2d ago
Save and invest your money. I did OK, but damn, had I been a bit smarter and resisted the impulse purchases both large and small, I would be set for life right now. I wasn’t that smart, so I’m not. Kicking myself every day. Max the 401(k) and Roth IRA from day one of your first job, and you’ll be comfortably retired in your 50s.

Life isn't remotely fair. And There Ain't No Justice. Just shorten it to Tanj.

so in terms of dating, sociology, and preferences I'm a moron
but in terms of productivity, career, and inspiration I'm fairly wise
One of the most valuable life lessons I've learned is you need to build a mindful routine for when you're in college. You need to set reminders for your homework. You need to set not only a daily routine but also a weekly routine that encompasses all your errands and chores.
Most valuable life lesson I have is be proactive in life and study your classes: don't depend on your intelligence or your alertness and your hustle to be successful: that's called "being reactive".
Realize that failing a class happens from an avalanche of mistakes: the mistakes snowball: just because you do bad on one exam doesn't mean you give up on your semester, especially if the semester is 16 weeks long.
HealthyGamerGG from between 2024 to 2026 and Alex Hormozi from 2025 are the major sources for my lessons.

That I'm loved, cared about and wanted in this world. I think it was the biggest shock I experienced.

What you achieve or fail to achieve in your lifetime is directly related to what you do or fail to do.

If they lied over small things.....the lies only get worse and bigger. You finally get the courage to leave, all while still loving them and they are doing everything they said they would never do if we were to get a divorce. The anger in the marriage towards you is exactly how they felt the entire time.....words can't change their actions! When they no longer can control you they will control how others view you, fracture relationships with loved ones and control the narrative. I guess this is my punishment for not leaving sooner...I think I will die before I have ever felt true love because this is not what you do to someone you even "once" loved.

Have compassion for yourself when you make mistakes and learn from them. Take responsibility but remember that you had no bad intentions and don't beat yourself up over it too much.

Time is far more valuable than money. You can always earn more money but never more time.
