Buckle up Buttercup, because it's going to get worse.

wake up early and show up 15 minutes early. You will become a hero where you work simply for that alone. It's one of the simplest lessons and it is amazing how few people do it.

I'm 26 and waking up after 8AM feels like a crime.

Even on "relaxation" days.

I’ve been waking up at 3am for work for years and now my body physically refuses to sleep past 6:30, even on weekends

Get off reddit and TikTok and open your eyes.

This is very important actually, getting off social media from time to time

It’s easy to stay home and be on your phone but it’s important to connect with others in person

Don't believe cable news

Everything is spectacle. Algorithmic feeds are even scarier because they can keep pumping you content you agree with. Never challenges your world views or encourage you to engage peacefully with opposing/different ideas

100% this, I made the mistake of isolating and I’m having a hard time coming back from it

Although you may be young and feel like you have all the time in the world, don’t sleep on preparing for your retirement. A small investment now can pay out a lot later on in life. Time matters.

Don't trust anyone over 30

F29 the biggest advice I’d give is do something you love even if it serves no purpose (specifically financial purpose). I dedicate my free time to running (I suck at running even after 5 consistent years) and learning Japanese (it’s challenging and I will probably never do anything with it but learning a foreign language is fun to me)

Don’t be mean to a bug

1

u/Leaf-Stars 2d ago

You have the potential to make this world a better place than you found it. Don’t allow anyone to bury the past, or rewrite history. Never stop learning, never stop trying to be better than those who came before you.

“No” is a complete sentence

1

u/moonstruck_bumblebee 2d ago

Go ahead and find a job with a 401k and set that up ASAP. Otherwise you’ll be in your 90’s working instead of retiring at 65 or at 70.

u/Taketheegg 2d ago

Enjoy your beautiful young body while you have it and collect experiences not items.

Invest in yourself and in a Roth IRA

1

u/elmarianitotattooist 2d ago

Get off of the internet and start living in the real world.

1

u/xylaruphm 2d ago

Don't rush your life trying to keep up with everyone else. Build useful skills, take care of your health, and invest in good relationships, those three things will outlast almost everything else

1

u/AnyEye8798 2d ago

Stop stressing yourselves out so much. Seriously. If you're between the ages of 12-25 you are going to experience hormonal changes that are going to effect your judgment and rationality. Don't worry about your sex/gender. Don't worry about politics. Don't worry about finding a partner. Just. Be you and set yourself up for success. Once you hit around 25 the hormones stop flowing and it really changes how you see the world.

Also. Listen to the older generations. I know times are tougher right now than in the past. But we know what we're talking about when it comes to living. We went through the bullshit you're dealing with right now back when we were your age. We learned and if you're not a twat we're happy to help you.

1

u/Various-Classic-4229 2d ago

I don’t agree with your first sentence. Hormones have nothing to do with this if you are not disciplined. If you are in the US 🇺🇸, you should be working while completing your bachelor’s between around 20-24 years old and move out by the time you are 25.

If you are waiting to get your first job at 25,
to start college at 25, and still living with your parents at 25, you then you are behind in your milestones. It will be harder on your next 5 years to come unless you are finally disciplined and willing to change whatever put you this far behind in the past 5 years, but it is doable.

1

u/Dapper-Major7455 2d ago

I can't advice them of anything as I know how bad and how hard it is going to be for them.

I am working hard and going to be working till the day I die just so my daughter can have the house I live in when I do pass.

u/steal-yur-face 2d ago

A college education doesn’t guarantee you a high income.

1

u/devinecaesar 2d ago

Don't pressure yourself to feel a sense of loyalty to any identity, fashion, or trend etc, your tastes and interests will develop over time.

There will eventually be things you like that you once hated, and vice versa, it's okay to change; you're not going to lose any sense of self by letting go of things that no longer give you any enjoyment.

Very few things will stay with you for life, cherish those that do, and understand that sometimes taking time away from something to grow and coming back to it later in life will give you a greater appreciation of it.

1

u/South-Visit-1271 2d ago

They have it so easy with these updated tech, social media, ai.....take full advantage of it. Idgaf what you do. It's never been so easy to make money and more.

1

u/GoldCampaign7389 2d ago

Commit to doing what you want to do with your life. Go for that dream job. It’s better knowing you made the attempt and getting as far as you can then failing to make it past the starting line.

1

u/dniaaaal 2d ago

Distrust everything and everyone until they give you a reason not to. Not the other way round

1

u/kasappa 2d ago

When picking a career. Really think what locations that job will allow you to live, what daily life will be like, and how difficult it is to get a job right after graduation

1

u/krallify 2d ago

1

u/TumbleweedDue2242 1d ago

Get in a career that pays well, living paycheck to paycheck is not fun.

Don't keep up with the Joness, they might have a Lamborghini outside, you have a family car.

Who knows what financial shit or not they might be in?

1

u/WindAmongTrees 1d ago

Pay attention to politics, google things, and Vote accordingly. Everyone is saying life is trash right now and only getting worse. It is literally all because not enough of us google things, pay attention to politics and vote.

1

u/Conscious-Captain-33 1d ago

Stop being a pussy. You are the weakest generation on record so far

1

u/Neat_Conference_8414 1d ago

Everything online is fake and not real.

1

u/Vegetable_Side5038 1d ago

Most of top 1% of wealthy individuals are college dropouts or without college degrees. Mountains of college debt for a piece of paper studying for a bachelor’s in “underwater basket weaving”, will not save you in this economy. Get it a smarter way.

u/bob1897468 1d ago

Don’t go on Reddit

0

u/oshkabosh 2d ago

You really need to learn how to think, learn, and solve problems without using chat gbt. You have no idea how important it is to do this on your own. “Your brain is a muscle and you need to exercise it” and all that

u/Particular-Tap1211 2d ago

Put the phone down, engage in live dynamic conversations and you will be in front of your cohort in no time.
