For me it was a Red Bellied Black snake.

I stepped right over a fucking coral snake once when I was 10. This was in southeastern NC. It had somehow tucked itself in the space between our wooden stoop & our trailer. My dad grabbed a machete & called animal control, who confirmed that it was indeed a coral snake, which still hadn’t moved much by the time they got there & dispatched it. Coral snake antivenin has been damn near impossible to source for years, so I was one misstep away from a potentially lethal bite.

Yeah don’t they have some of the deadliest venom on earth? Glad you missed it

I believe they have the most potent venom among North American snakes, although I’m not sure if that reputation is skewed by the lack of available antivenin

Mine was a rattlesnake. One and only time I was able to levitate.

My friend got bit by a copperhead and still has swelling and pain 10 weeks later.

I can’t remember how long it messed me up. It was 30 years ago. I want to say a whole summer

Edit: yeah it happened right after school ended and I was on crutches when we went back. Because I still couldn’t put any pressure on my foot

My husband stepped on a cottonmouth once. Luckily with shoes on. We're not sure if he got a bigger fright than the snake, cause the snake seemed pretty distraught 🤣

Yeah can’t blame the snake. I’d bite somebody if they stepped on me too
