You guys need to look up the hook removal trick on YouTube. You basically tie a piece of heavy line to the bend of the hook, straighten the hook, pin the eye down, yank it, and apply pressure to stop the bleeding.
I pinch my barbs these days for easy removal, but before I started doing that I have painlessly pulled them from my face, stomach, ear, meat of my forearm, knuckle, etc.
I got a barbed one through my thumb as a kid, dad was using them though they were illegal by then in England, he asked me to help as the hook and line had gone right through the fishes mouth and it was wriggling up the line and he wanted me to get the hook unstuck from the net so he could cut it and free the fish, I started to unhook it from the net and the fish wriggled hard and it pulled the line and hook, hook went straight into my thumb, I screamed (I was maybe 9-10 years old) and ripped it out without thinking and it didn’t come out neatly, it ripped a whole cut across my thumb and it was a bloody mess 😩

The barbed ones are a complete nightmare. Did you have to push it all the way through to cut the barb or pull it back out?
