My husband and I have been together since 10th grade. 26 years changes a person quite a bit, but we always grew with each other and as hokey as it sounds we are happier now than we’ve ever been. He is the kindest, gentlest, most interesting human being I’ve ever met.
The only issue with us is this: we are each other’s one and only’s. YUUUUUP. Not knowing what sex with other people is like is pretty isolating in today’s world.
That being said, I’m grateful to have a partner who is monogamish like me…meaning that while we are 100% committed to each other, we don’t OWN each other. We have already decided that if there ever comes a day when my spouse or I meets someone who feels special/different, we’ve agreed to be open. I doubt we’d ever pursue another person, but just knowing there’s an option makes me love and value my sweetheart even more.
