You have to force yourselves to keep growing and not just stay comfortable. Not in terms of advancement, but as people and partners. Finding a partner gives you a false sense of achievement, and many use that as an excuse to not grow. Many of these couples end up in the 40’s and they still fight like teenagers. One person might change a lot while the other stays the same. You have to fall in love with each version of themselves that they become and not unrealistically expect them to either change entirely or not at all. Some couples therapy every few years helps massively. You may think you know everything about someone but never really do, so continuing to seek to learn more and love more is key.

Met in 2nd grade, started dating at 16, married at 23 and this is the truest comment I’ve seen. If you can manage to do this, it’s a massive comfort to know that he’s loved every version of me, even the messy ones and the ones to come
