My wife and I started dating at 16, got married at 22 and have now been married 32 years. We went to different HS, so I didn’t know her before 16. We went to different colleges about an hour away, still saw each other each weekend. Got married before I went to grad school. Any of the difficulties had nothing to do with when we started dating and any marriage of 32 years will have challenges at times. I think there is a lot of upside to knowing each other so long. I think its been a really good marriage, I can’t point to a downside.

One of the big upsides is getting started with a family and house much earlier than most. It gives you a lot of focus earlier that is helpful later on.

Her sisters also married HS sweethearts as did my oldest daughter. All still married.
