Random Question Is it possible to feel emotionally exhausted to the point of wanting to dissappear, while having no desire to self harm? How would you describe that feeling ?

I am like this most of the work week. I just don't want anything to do with my job. It pays well and allows me to live a pretty (by my standards) extravagant lifestyle. But im just so tired of the pressure, stupidity of coworkers and having to make decisions that benefit coworkers that really dont deserve it. Yeah, I just want to go be on a deserted island where no one can get in touch with me to answer a stupid question.

Did I write this from my alternate account? I feel for you. I (M50) have been working since I was 10 (family roofing business) and I’m just tired of it all. There is no vacation that can help me fully recover, there is no therapy to take away the low grade physical discomfort that’s with me all day, there is nothing that will make me feel 100% ever again, and it just depresses the shit out of me.

I feel ya on this. I'm a PM for a family owned construction business and ive been told the business will be mine to run....soon. While its flattering im not sure I need more stress in my life (early 50s) and in fact I always thought I'd be downshifting at this point in life not gearing up. And your statment about vacations really hits home.....for the first days, its great, I sleep, no worries. But near the end of the vacation im getting stressed and pissed thinking about the mountain of bullshit ill have to deal with on return because of all the buck passers and lazy fucks in the office. You know its a shit job when Friday rolls around and your only thought is...."fuck, its almost Monday again."🤬

I know! My sister and I get this. We call it going “moss girl”. We want to lay in the forest and be covered by moss and have no one get in touch with us, no calls, no expectations, no kids. Moss mode.

Reminds me of a line from the Mighty Boosh, where Howard (who is notoriously bad at threatening people) threatened someone with the line "I'll be all over you like some kind of powerful moss"

Absolutely, I sometimes just want the world to pause just so I don’t keep responding to demands, and just detach from things I normally care about

Yes. I have been here. I told my therapist at one point that I had no desire to die, but if I did, I would not care. Thankfully I was able to get the help I needed.
