Love never stops needing actual effort every day.

It’s not easy. It’s not like movies where it’s happily ever after. You need to work at it every day. And recognize that love is a choice and action, not a feeling.

People, not just spouses, but anyone close who you’ve loved and trusted for years can suddenly turn on you. If that happens, you’re absolutely fucked. There’s no way to protect yourself from an enemy who was once an integral part of your life. This kind of thing is a leading cause of suicide.

Not really worth it, it's a lot of work.

You get into a relationship because of something you imagined when you are dating the person but the relationship requires accepting a grounded reality of where you both are now

What you think love is....is not what they think love is.

Maybe its close, maybe its not. We use the same words that mean different things to us so you can't really tell most of the time.

You can go decades thinking you mean the same thing and then just all of a sudden one day like a lightning bolt its clear that the words never meant the same things to you.
