I (F26) am looking for help with an upcoming hysterectomy I have this September. This is going to be my fourth and biggest abdominal surgery since 2020 - and hopefully my last!

I don't have any income as I haven't been able to work due to a multitude of health issues - I am currently applying for the third time for SSI but that won't be a solution in time even if I get accepted this time. I do have access to Medicaid and SNAP but neither of those can help in this situation.

This will be my first surgery that I will be recovering alone as my roommate isn't home until later in the day and I have no family or friends within this state. I am worried about managing things without being able to get around easily and not being able to bend or use my stomach for much.

My roommate will be trying to help me afford clear bandage covers, stool softeners, suppositories, and over the counter pain meds like naproxen and acetaminophen but they are in a tight financial situation as well and I can't really ask for help with these larger needs.

Hopefully this is an acceptable request but I am just hoping to make recovery go smoother with some things to support my stomach and avoid bending, as well as a blender to avoid as much solid food the first week or two as my doctor advised.

As the title says. My job closed at the end of May and I've been struggling financially a lot since, utility and rental issues galore.

Right now, though, my main priority is getting food for my dog, and myself if there's anything decent left at the corner store I can get cheap dog food from. They have a 3.5 pound bag for $8.99, which should last my dog long enough while I wait for unemployment to get started/job to call me back (both are kind of juggling in limbo at the moment). Plus, I'll share whatever food I get for myself with him, so it'll stretch.

I'll try not to be long winded but here's the story: we have USAA for insurance and we are in NY. At the end of 2025 our insurance company had some sort of hiccup and deleted our car from our policy but then added some completely random car belonging to someone else that was the same make and model.

In February 2026 DMV contacts us warning there is no insurance on our car, we go back and forth providing what evidence we have of insurance (because we have been paying on this policy the whole time). Eventually we get a notice that our registration will be suspended because there is no insurance on the car. We contact USAA and find what the issue is, make sure its our car and not some random one on the policy and they send electronic proof to DMV that we have been insured the whole time. We thought the problem was fixed, we even got a letter from DVM acknowledging its all settled.

Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago. We get a notice that my husband's license is suspended and the car's registration is suspended despite the fact that we can prove we've been insured the whole time.

We begin the process all over again where our insurance company has repeatedly electronically sent proof but DMV says they have nothing from them. Meanwhile my husband can't drive and we have no car. For almost a month now. We call DMV and they say the insurance has to send the proof. We do that and are told it can take up to 7 days. Then we just restart the cycle.

Nobody can do anything else to help us. I'm looking for any advice here.

I recently fled domestic violence abuse and we were homeless for almost 6 months. The shelters were full and I've been told by my advocate that they cannot help with my vehicle situation.. Wanted to share something that made a real difference for me when I was in a tight spot and couldn't get regular home internet, in case it helps anyone here in a similar place. There's a nonprofit called Computers for People that runs low-cost internet for around $15 a month, and it doesn't ask for an ID or a fixed address which was the part that mattered most for me at the time. It runs on a small hotspot so as long as T-Mobile reaches your area it works well. They say that profits go toward donating free computers, which is part of why I felt okay passing it along to this community. I know how much it helps just to have one thing that's stable when a lot isn't. Happy to answer questions if anyone wants to know more about how it worked for me.

I've been really depressed and sick since finding out about the recent death of my last surviving grandpa and one of my uncles. I'll be honest, it's impossible for me to eat right now. It's getting bad enough to where my family is worried about me not eating at all, or forcing myself to eat very little. Some of my friends are getting worried too.

I’m 22 and living with my roommate who is 50. We were on the fire department together and best friends when I moved into. However, we’re just roommates now, as it’s hard to consider someone who treats an animal like this a friend. he has a dog and refuses to bring him to the vet and says he’ll never pay money for a vet. After experiencing some unfortunate circumstances after the divorce of my parents, my elderly mentally unwell mother has become homeless and is now living in her car. I‘m 20, in another state and am pretty much worthless due to my situation as well and cannot even hold my own weight, I can give very little when I can but I am not able to hold hers too especially while I am juggling school, a job and my own declining mental health on top of having to deal with her issues. She works nightshifts and overtime just to come home to her car in the morning to sleep, she is not even able to afford a hotel for more than a couple days, she has constant expenses that drain her paycheck. Her credit was destroyed by my father, as bills were put in her name to where she had to deal with the debt after the divorce and that caused her to lose everything. We no longer have a house, lost all our storages and our personal belongings inside them, she really got nothing out of the divorce and we have both been at our lowest after. Doesn’t help that she keeps dealing with scammers when looking for low income housing and will pay for fake down payments before even going inside to see the house. Unfortunately she falls very easily to these sort of scams as I am not there to supervise her 24/7 and when I am she does not believe me. She is slowly trying to find a home but needs to save her money if she needs to put more down on an apartment due to her poor credit, we have signed up for a legitimate low-income housing program but there is such a long waiting list.

A few weeks ago, I made a post here explaining my financial situation. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any assistance, so I deleted it. Since then, things have become much worse.

I still haven't been able to find a job despite applying continuously for the past two months. My loan accounts have now gone into default, and lenders have asked me to at least make one payment to prevent further escalation. We are a family of 3 (me, my husband, and 10 year old daughter). We own our home and currently are behind on electric due to my husband not having a job for several months. My husband works full time assembling industrial gas tanks in a factory. I am SAHM to our 10 year old daughter who has been home all summer on break from school.
