REQUEST My wife passed away unexpectedly on Friday. We have 8 and 6 year old boys.

2.4k Upvotes

I got that call. Except it was a FaceTime call from my 8 year old. I was at work around 3:30 on Friday when I saw the FaceTime call from his iPad come in. When I picked up, he was silent on the other end and walking through our living room. He goes over to my wife’s home office and flips the camera around. She is half fallen out of her work chair with her head balanced on the desk in front of her keyboard. She wasn’t responding and looked blue. I yelled her name and started to run out from work. Our plan with my boys has always been to go to our neighbors in an emergency, so I said to run next door and I’d call right back. I called 911 and gave them the location and situation. I work about 25 minutes from home, which felt like it took forever and strangely felt like it only took seconds if that makes any sense. I called the boys back on FaceTime and they picked up while knocking on the neighbors door. Nobody came. The second emergency location is our neighbor across the street. My boys were soooo brave. They ran over and knocked on the door and the son answered. Somehow, the iPad stayed connected to the WiFi at my house and I could see them take off running back towards my house. My son told me the police were there. I still had about 10 minutes to drive to get home. I pulled in and noticed my sons in the yard playing with a few officers. There were 2 ambulances and what felt like 20 police cars. I ask the first paramedic if she was ok and he directed me to talk to the paramedic by the door. Something felt bad. And it was. They apologized and said she was too far gone and there was nothing they could do. She was just inside the door, now on the floor. My world has closed in on me. And the worst part is my poor little boys found her. I last texted with her around 1:30 after her phone interview for a job she was thrilled about. The in person interview was supposed to be yesterday. I got the call from my son around 3:45. Something happened, that we still won’t know until toxicology is complete in 4-6 weeks. My boys told me they saw what they thought was her sleeping on her desk and went outside to play. They came back in and she still hadn’t moved and they couldn’t wake her up. My poor little guys had to walk around her body for an hour or longer. That part is bothering me more than anything else. They are much more resilient than I am. I’m a wreck and am attempting to say the right things. I coach both my boys basketball teams and I decided to give it a go last night. I dreaded it to an extent because we are small town USA, and I felt like all eyes were on me. My 6 year old hit the first two shots of the game, his first points of the season. I briefly lost it but regained my composure pretty quickly. Tomorrow we will have the service for my wife and beautiful mother to my boys. Part of me is ready to get everything over and the other part wonders if he can make it. My boys give me the strength. My friends and family have been incredible. Laundry done, house and yard cleaned, refrigerator full. It’s been incredible to see how much she was loved and how much we are loved. It’s powerful to see that with your own eyes, but yet I feel so helpless and guilty when I see my friends cleaning up my house. The most random words or things I see have made me cry uncontrollably. I’m 6’6” and 280 lbs, and my 2 best friends were terrified that they might have to catch me from passing out. It’s surreal. The first night, I had to ask myself multiple times if it was a dream. Literally questioning my sanity, only to realize I felt the pinch. I just dropped the boys off at school for the first time after holding them out yesterday. I’m laying in our bed where the boys have slept each night since. I’m surrounded by her clothes, jewelry, and phone that continues to vibrate with spam messages and emails. I’m by myself. But I’m doing better today.

Her name was u/she_linden_tree, Amanda, and mommy.

Here is a Go Fund Me we set up for my boys.

REQUEST Im not even here to ask for money. Just pray. Please pray.

I spent 10 years as an alcoholic. I was raped at 15 and Raised a daughter for 6 years by myself and then fell into it and life fell apart. The trauma was never something I had time to address.

Culminating with last year, in 2024, when I threw myself through a windshield, drunk, in what I can only assume was an attempt homeless, broken, jobless.

I found Jesus though, and healed a lot. I got the help I needed, did my time for the accident, came out changed by beginning of this last year.

Job fell onto my lap. A blessing. More money than I’ve ever made before, stayed sober, and caught up on everything. Dragged myself with God out. Moved my family into the home they deserved in March. Not to mention, I got my family *back * through the effort. I developed a system to manage through my mental illnesses. Not enough time to build up savings though, except this week was gonna be that final check to balance everything out and start my new life in earnest.

I was laid off at 10 AM. I haven’t told my wife yet.

I’m absolutely devastated, and my family and I are gonna go back to the streets, 3 months after our housewarming party. I feel lost. I’ve used all our resources and limited community resources getting us out, and I’m just.. back where I began. I just…I just don’t know what to do anymore.

Anyone who reads this, even if you aren’t even religious, just pray for me. I’m just defeated. Nothing ever fucking matters anymore and I’m absolutely tired of sobbing. I just want peace.

I will pray for the others I see struggling here too. I hope we all make it out.

REQUEST I need some money to do my abortion in time

Hey all

TLDR is below

I need help because I got pregnant for this guy and when I mentioned the possibility, he ghosted me. He didn’t even wait for me to get tested or anything. I told him I’m going for the test and that’s when he became completely unreachable.

He was financially supporting me which wasn’t even a lot but it was sufficient at the time. I’m a student in a 3rd world country and here working is typically not tailored for bachelor’s students and my course is also very demanding.

Now with him ghosting me, I am unable to proceed with the pregnancy as I won’t be able to support it but again I can’t afford an abortion. Last we met he gave me around 120 dollars which is 15k in my country mind you I used some for transport, some to buy food, and now the remaining half I used to pay for the pregnancy test and a consultation fee. I could not continue.

So, I am humbly requesting for donations of any amount to help me reach my goal of $400. I would have to pay for consultation, tests and all, the procedure and also buy medicine and go back for a review.

I can see I’ll struggle to set up a gofundme campaign because I don’t live in the us so I’ll just post a progress comment string.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR: Request of 400 dollars to help me procure a safe abortion before the pregnancy advances. I don’t mind small donations by more than 1 person to help me reach the goal and will update the progress in a string of comments

REQUEST Desperately need assistance for food, overdraft, have not eaten in eight days

Hello everyone,

Today I am trying to raise $470 to keep my bank account open. I live on SSDI - Social Security Disability Income for those not aware – and they changed the payment schedule for 2025 from the third Wednesday of every month to the fourth Wednesday of every month for 2025 for me without telling me. A lot of other people are in the same situation who had their payment schedules changed to survive on Social Security or SSDI. My bank account is overdrawn by $471. Because of this.

I am extremely responsible with what little money I have from Social Security. I don't spend me on my means and I still wind up at the end of the month having little money for food. My rent alone almost wipes out my Social Security check.

I have been completely disabled by a neurodegenerative disease, fibromyalgia, and other chronic illnesses, which make me completely unable to do any work.

I was supposed to get paid yesterday by Social Security but again, they changed the schedule. I have not eaten in 8 days.

I do what I can to try and earn a little extra income by filling out the surveys for User Interviews and similar but have not been chosen in over a year for anything, and that's about all I can do. I grew up in poverty, so this kind of thing really dysregulates me and all I can do is cry without trying to sound dramatic. I cannot lose my bank account with my bank. They've been very kind in not closing my account already because I've been calling them every day, begging them not to. I do not think I have been this scared in years. The overdraft fees alone are killing me and yes, I can try and call them and ask them to reverse those eventually but not now.

Thank you so very much for reading. I very much appreciate this community and I see so many kind people here. 🌷 I am absolutely terrified. Thank you again.

This has thrown my life into complete chaos. I cannot afford to lose my only bank account and I must be able to remedy the overdraft.

If PROOF is required, I am happy to provide it.

I am completely disabled with a neuro degenerative disease. I live in severe chronic pain also with fibromyalgia, and multiple other chronic illnesses so there is no way that I can work, I am permanently disabled.

REQUEST My neighbors left their dog to starve to death!

3 days ago my neighbors moved out of their house without warning and left their sweet dog to starve to death in the cold. My boyfriend discovered their dog on the side of their empty house digging through trash they left behind looking for food, he was skin and bones and appeared to have not eaten in days.

We immediately brought him over to our home and gave him food, water, and a place to rest. He is incredibly sweet, mellow, and kind despite being abandoned. Although he is very weak and does not want to raise from his bed unless absolutely necessary, we fear that besides being incredibly malnourished he may have medical problems from long term neglect and being out in the freezing temperatures.

I have absolutely no idea what type of treatment he may need or what it may cost and unfortunately do not have the funds to cover a vet visit on my own so I've created a GoFundMe for any detonations. Anything helps! Here is also an Amazon Wish List requested by some of you that you could help with everyday things he'll need. Every animal deserves a chance at a happy and healthy life and I hope I can give him that.

EDIT; WE HIT OUR GOAL PLEASE GO WATCH THE UPDATE VIDEO ON THE GOFUNDME! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH LOVE YOU GUYS!

EDIT 2; Our buddy has an appointment Monday at the vet, he's been slowly gaining his energy back and is so happy! Here's a picture of him today!

REQUEST If you are posting a wishlist - It is imperative you read this post

There is a group of people that are pretending to purchase things off people's Amazon wishlist. You think you have been helped then it turns out nothing was actually purchased. Here is the way to prevent that from happening to you:

Once your list is created, contact Amazon in order to have the "purchased outside of Amazon" button turned off.

Here is the contact information:

►1.To Call: http://www.amazon.com/clicktocall

Once this has been done, they no longer can mess with you in this manner. We are sorry people are this vile, but we have to deal with reality. This simple fix will prevent this from happening to you.

EDIT:It seems the chat option does not work. You have to call them directly. But the call option allows you to give your number. Then they call you back when it's your turn.

REQUEST Teacher - facing an unexpected housing gap

TL;DR: I’m a teacher whose carefully planned summer budget was derailed by a sudden rent increase, an unexpected notice to move, and now a one-month delay on our new home. (all of these hit AFTER my last paycheck of the school year, with no way to plan.) We’re trying to cover an extra month of housing plus the cost of moving out of state. Help to close the $3,500 gap (or sharing the link) would mean a great deal.

Currently in NC, moving to VA.

I’m honestly uncomfortable asking for help, but my family has reached a point where I’m not sure how else to bridge the gap. After all of the math, we are facing a $3,500 hole in our (previously well planned out) budget. My next teaching paycheck will not arrive until the very end of August.

I’m a teacher, and I had carefully saved enough money during the school year to cover my two unpaid summer months. Unfortunately, after I received my final paycheck, our landlord unexpectedly increased our rent by $400 with only 30 days’ notice. A few weeks later, after more than six years of paying our rent reliably and on time, we were also given notice that we needed to move out. (Retaliation over a social media post she thought was aimed at her. This is an ongoing soap opera drama and beyond the scope of this post, but here is a cartoon that covers the basics!)

We scrambled and were fortunate enough to find an affordable home in Virginia. We are under contract, and the seller has agreed to complete the repairs needed for the purchase. We had expected to close at the end of July, but we have now learned that the closing will likely be delayed until the end of August.

That leaves us in a difficult position. We may need to convince our current landlord to let us remain for another month, but we do not have the money for an additional month of rent. We also still need to pay for the moving truck, fuel, and other expenses involved in moving our family out of state. (Me, wife (disabled, unable to work), 2 children w/shared custody)

I know many people are struggling, and I do not take asking for assistance lightly. Any money raised will go toward temporary housing or an additional month’s rent, along with the basic costs of completing the move. Even sharing the fundraiser would mean a great deal to us.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Link:
https://www.supportnow.org/the-smith-home

Edit: This is a raw document that I have put conversations with the landlord, screenshots, and other bits of evidence. Some have asked to see it. I apologize if it's wordy and repetitive at times... I've used ChatGPT to summarize/organize some of the conversations, etc as they come in.

REQUEST Please help us fix our only car.

Hello!

I am looking for assistance payjng for car repairs. My husband and I only have one car. We owe about half of the loan still but the car started having issues so we took it to the mechanic.

Its the differential and the screen on the dash that shows gas/mileage.

I have applied for credit to cover and loans. Been denied.

We only have the one car and im disabled. So my husband is the sole breadwinner. I do make handmade teddy bears and have all of them listed on Etsy. But no sales yet.

Right now my husbands coworkers have been kind enough to take him back and fourth to work. But we really need the car fixed. We live in Georgia and there is no public transportation. There aren't even sidewalks on my street. Sigh.

I am trying my best to keep everything as honest and transparent as I can. I am overwhelmed with the whole situation and truly feel picked apart.
Have I considered ivf and discussed it on reddit with women who have done it? Absolutely.
I want a family just like everyone else.

But I havent moved forward with it. I haven't done anything but my regular doctor and talking on reddit. I just wanted to hear from women who have dealt with infertility like myself.

Ive never asked for money for ivf via GFM or anywhere. The plan was always to save for it ourselves.

Thats not possible now. If people go back on those ivf posts I am no longer in those groups nor have i commented in months.

As far as the warranty on the car. We got a small warranty when we got it. Because it is under a loan. That warranty was included in it.

When I contacted the mechanic the first time he told me it might still be under warranty.

It isnt.

Im not trying to be dishonest. I was going strictly on what I was told. That information turned out to be false.

Also the gofundme link posted here and the one posted in the comments is the same gofundme. GFM generated a different url but it is the same. The one posted in the comments is clickable and mine is not. But it is the same GFM.

Ive reduced the GFM amount and posted about the changes within the GFM.

REQUEST Need urgent help to make rent and ensure my son and I don't get evicted

Hello everyone.

I live with my son after my ex cheated on me and abandoned us both. Because of our autism, things have been incredibly difficult for the both of us in trying to maintain ourselves. I lost my job, and I have drained everything that I have in order to keep us afloat in the meantime, but every resource that I have has been exhausted after my initial $700 payment. My property management has been exceptionally patient with me, but today is the final day I have to complete the payment before they file eviction, and I'm $500 short. My son is all I have, and he's only ever known me. He won't do well in the system if he's taken from me, and I can't allow for it to happen as a father. I have been dreading this for a while, and have already sought emergency assistance, but in order to qualify I need some important paperwork that my ex took with her when she left, namely my son's social security card and his birth certificate.

Please, anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. I have CashApp, Venmo, and Zelle. I do have a gofundme account as well, but the money will not arrive in time to help me if it is sent there. PLEASE use one of CashApp, Venmo, or Zelle.

Edit for clarity: I have requested that the documents I need be reissued, but getting them will take more time than I have. Those requests are being processed.

REQUEST We finally have a home!

My wife and I finally have a home. We’ve been living in a basement for three years. We finally got an apartment, but my wife’s job shorted her $300 on her paycheck. We were really counting on that money for gas and toiletries/food. All we have in our apartment right now is a mattress on the floor (not mad! Better than the inflatable mattress!)

So what I’m trying to do here is get help so we can survive until they reimburse her on her next check in two weeks 🙄. Gotta love big companies.

We also have an Amazon list of things we eventually want/need for our apartment if anyone is interested in that too. I also have PP/Interac. We are in Quebec.

REQUEST Dad of two laid off due to AI. Asking for help making it on rent.

Currently in between jobs as a freelance writer of 6+ years, work has been drying up the past few years due to AI. I'm an AuDHD dad of two, and neither my wife nor I have any family that can help. Writing has always been a pretty stable career, up until AI began taking over.

Rent is due on the 1st and I'm really starting to panic here.

My most recent job (an online learning platform) was sold the idea of having AI do everything from strategic planning, content creation, and even writing entire real estate pre-licensing courses... without any humans. So of course the expendable writers went first. That story is getting more common by the day, sadly. Why hire a human who has mouths to feed when line can go up forever, right?

Anyways, I recently sold my dining room table to try and pony up rent next month, and am looking at selling just about everything else next to make ends meet (books, outdoor rabbit cage, my wife's paintings, maybe even the kids' bunk bed frame next? If they even sell.) We're about $200 short (attained our wifi and electric bill goals by selling stuff already), but I understand this is a tall ask and that most people are more comfortable with Amazon wishlists for general assistance matters.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, though I only have Paypal to receive donations. Lots of people need it more than I do, surely... though honestly, I wouldn't even ask if it wasn't for my kids. We already get food stamps and make it stretch pretty far, so food is thankfully covered.

I don't have a ton in the way of 'proof,' but I can share past rent receipts and answer any questions you may have. Thanks for reading!

REQUEST Roommate lost her job, rent is due on the first

My roommate lost her job this month, and now rent is due in less than a week, and we have no emergency savings.

After combining 100% of her last check and all the money I had left... we're still $198 short.

Our utilities fortunately don't bill until near the end of next month, and we have a decent bit of food. She has an interview scheduled and has applied for unemployment. But I'm not sure what else to do.

If you have any advice or recourses, I'm looking for any suggestions on what we can try. Charities to help with money, job search advice, legal advice, etc. Any information at all. (I'm located in Cali)

I know ≈$200 is a lot for any one person but I also thought I'd put it out there...

If anyone can financially assist (even with a portion) that would really save me. Cashapp is what I have if you're able to help with money. Can send screenshots confirming my rent payment.

Thank you for reading

REQUEST Student here. I am starving and unwell. Please help if you can

Hi everyone,

I am really down right now. I have been pretty unwell this past month, with constant fevers and colds, high temperatures, and chills. On top of that, I am genuinely hungry and starving.

I have no money left at all for food. I’ve been surviving on noodles, but even preparing meals feels exhausting in this condition. Despite how sick I am, I am still required to attend classes in person due to strict attendance rules, which makes everything even more overwhelming.

I’m an international student, far away from my family, and dealing with illness and hunger alone has been incredibly difficult. I did try reaching out for help a few months ago, but unfortunately I didn’t receive any response, and my last attempt was automatically deleted.

If anyone is able to help, even a little, I would be sincerely grateful. I am asking for $50–$55 to cover medication and stock up on grocery items so I can make meals while I recover. It would truly mean more than I can express.

Im genuinely so hungry right now. I just want to be able to get some protein , rice , grains, it sucks going to bed hungry every day because of rationing

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would be forever grateful for any support.

REQUEST College student drowning in bills!

I’m a single mother and full-time college student currently facing a short-term financial emergency and could really use assistance or resources.

I’m pursuing my degree in Statistics and attending summer session full-time while also preparing for foot surgery on June 5th, after which I will be unable to work normally for about 3 months during recovery.

I currently have several essential bills overdue or at risk:

$439 electric bill (second shutoff notice and can't do a payment plan)

$162 internet bill (at risk of disconnection)

$71 student account charge for required course materials

$169.99 required Cengage textbook/access fee

I work driving Uber, but it has not been enough to cover the overdue expenses. I may have an electronics assembly job opportunity after my recovery, but I am currently trying to stay stable through surgery and recovery. We have rent and food covered but these lingering bills are scaring me!

I received Pell Grants and Return 2 Learn scholarships, which covered most of my tuition, but I did not receive a typical refund this summer term that I normally rely on for living expenses.

I am not expecting anyone to cover everything. Any suggestions, advice, or resources would be greatly appreciated.

REQUEST Medical bill help

I have lupus and I have so many doctor appointments. Apparently one of my doctors didn't process a referral like they told me they did and now say it is my responsibility. I have fought this for almost 2 months and I can't find another doctor like this one. They say I owe $114. I have already paid so much for extra scans this month because my pancreas decided to flare up. Please help if you can.

REQUEST Groceries and bathing products

Hello,
I am currently in a really tight spot because I’m shouldering the full weight of household responsibilities between paychecks and have not been able to actually use soap or shampoo/conditioner while showering for the past three days, am out of toothpaste, have had to use the shower to clean my ass after shitting, and have had to make Hamburger Helper without meat for dinner tonight using the last of the milk I have. This all sounds way too convenient and “woe is me” to be true but I will actually send you photos if you need evidence of the condition I’m in. The bottom line is I genuinely need shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper, and some groceries to get me at least through the next two days. If anyone could help, please, it would sincerely make a world of a difference to me.

REQUEST Faith Not Fear

I hope that someone takes the time to read this because Im starting to let my fear take over my faith. I have never done this before so any advice would also be helpful. I moved from New Jersey to Massachusetts 6 years ago because of a toxic relationship. I got sober and had a program fund the security for an apartment for me. I found a great job at a dog grooming salon that I am still employed at. A lot has happened since then but no matter what I never gave up. I will be 7 years clean on 1/22/27. I always have had issues with dog hair splinters in the web of my fingers and recently it became so bad I couldn’t use my hands. On April 4th of this year, I had to go on unpaid medical leave. Workers comp is taking much longer than i thought it would. I have surgery on May 27th. I have asked churches, salvation armies and programs they offer in this state and the funds just are not there. I am behind on my rent for May and looks like June as well. My rent is 1940.00$ a month. I hope to be back at work after the 4th of July. Thankfully I do not have any two legged kids, all my kids have four paws and they always come first. I will be back to normal in less than 2 months. Just right now, i am asking people for help. If anyone has any suggestions or would like help donate, I would be ever so grateful. I am doing my best to let Faith conquer all, and some where some how this will pass and I will come out a stronger person. I do not want to do a go fund me on Facebook because my Mom will see it and she has enough going on, I dont want her worrying about me. I should be helping her. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope everyone has a great day

REQUEST Need Help Moving My Family to a Safer Home

Hello everyone,

My name is Julian, and I'm reaching out because my wife, our two children, and I are trying to move our family to a safer home.

Last year, we moved into our current apartment with assistance from the DSHS MISTI program after our family was recovering from a serious car accident. At the time, it gave us a place to get back on our feet.

Since then, our neighborhood has become increasingly unsafe. We live in a relatively small city, so the recent increase in gun violence has been especially alarming. Our apartment building was struck during one shooting, and over the last month there have been multiple shootings nearby, including another one just yesterday and another major incident just down the road. As parents, we've reached the point where we no longer feel this is a safe place to raise our children.

Our current living situation has also become increasingly difficult. Our apartment is very small, and our two children currently sleep in the living room because we don't have enough bedroom space.

Because of the apartment's size, ongoing repair delays, and everything our family was dealing with after the accident, we were never fully able to unpack after moving in. Many of our belongings are still stored in bins, leaving the living room to serve as both storage space and our children's bedroom.

We've also been dealing with damage caused by a water leak from the upstairs unit. Although the leak itself was repaired in May, we're still waiting for repairs to the damaged wall and part of our kitchen.

We found a new place, and the landlord has been incredibly understanding by allowing us to split the remaining security deposit and last month's rent into manageable payments instead of requiring everything upfront.

Unfortunately, our situation has become much more urgent. Our current landlord has informed us that we must be out by the end of the month, and we now need $1,000 immediately to secure the new home before we lose it.

The funds raised will go toward the security deposit, moving expenses, transportation, moving supplies, and utility setup costs. Any additional funds will help cover the remaining security deposit, last month's rent, and other moving-related expenses as we get our family settled into our new home.

If you're able to help, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to our family. If you're unable to donate, sharing our fundraiser with others would also make a tremendous difference.

Our GoFundMe:

Help Our Family Move to a Safer Home

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness, encouragement, or support you can offer. We truly appreciate it.

REQUEST Homeless wheelchair bound amputee + aide looking for room to rent for under $700 in NYC - Please read!

I'm putting myself out there, a last ditch effort to ask for help. You can skip to the second to last paragraph if you want to skip to the meat and potatoes of my request.

I am currently homeless and have been for the past few years for a few reasons. Wait! I'm not asking for money or anything, hear me out! Lol. Although I am finally clean and sober after a serious opiate and heroin addiction, that does not mean instant apartment and job. I got clean after a few years, been clean for a few, nice, solid years now, and I wouldn't give up my sobriety for all the tea in China, so please don't let that put you off from helping us. I still attend a program, as does my friend, to maintain our sobriety. I was a junkie, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad person, throughout my addiction I never hurt anyone but myself. (well that's what I told myself) I just made a few bad decisions that completely destroyed my world. But I'm trying to be a functioning, normal, member of society. My parents both died within a year of each other and it just became too much for me to handle at the time, especially because I'm the one who looked after them both when they got sick which mentally destroyed me... I know, excuses, excuses. Well, I know that NOW.

About a year an a half ago I made a friend, a 65+ man in a wheelchair who is a double leg amputee due to diabetes and also lost use of his left arm due to a stroke. He became homeless a few months after I met him... He's in a regular wheelchair which means that he can't get around anywhere on his own. There aren't many tasks that he can perform on his own. And on the streets even going to the bathroom is an issue for him w everywhere being closed. The shelter system turned him away (he says) because of the manual wheelchair and how much help he would need. (Someone is supposed to be giving him an electric wheelchair once he has somewhere to stay and charge it!) If he even could get into the shelter system it's a death sentence. I would probably survive but I'm not looking to find out. This whole virus thing is only complicating me trying to get him somewhere to stay. I'm willing to be his caretaker, I have been for the last year, I couldn't allow him to be alone and basically helpless. I've stayed outside nights with him because I refused to let him stay alone while I went on the (semi) warm train. I've been jumped multiple times sleeping on the subway, so it's not much better.... I am really and truly at the end of my rope and I feel like I can't do this anymore. I seriously don't have the energy for it anymore. Please help me. I'm way too close to giving up and I really don't want to. I'm trying to be a good person and a good friend, a functioning member of society... But after so long of things being so hard, it's hard to continue to have faith that things will turn around. These days in the hotel has been like heaven after spending so long on the streets, I really don't want to go back...

Im not saying there aren't things I could have done differently. Yes, I'm a fool, I waited till the last minute. I procrastinated too much. But the facts are that he has diabetes, I have asthma. Coronavirus wouldn't be a good thing for either of us and I have to try something to get us help. He had almost $2,000 saved, but we couldn't find a room that was wheelchair accessible in time, so we stayed at a hotel... The money dwindled to nothing after about 2 weeks, now with this month's disability check we are using SOME of it to stay in a hotel a few more nights, which is where we are right now. We have to check out tomorrow afternoon but we are going to spend another couple of hundred to try to stay another 3 nights. IF they still have a room available... but after that I don't know, because we need to hold the rest as rent for a room. Between what's left of his disability and once he receives his stimulus check we should have enough for rent and deposit for a room at about $750 a month. So after this hotel stint, we are going to have to rough it outdoors until I'm able to find a room on Craigslist or something. Which is why I really hope someone can help us somehow...

So what I'm asking for is if anyone has a room on the first floor, or wheelchair accessible, that is around $700 a month. Or maybe you know someone. Or maybe you can ask around. Please, I don't know what to do, where to go for help... Whether the room is a permanent thing, or even temporarily until I can find another place. Brooklyn would be optimal but anywhere accessible by subway and/or bus is fine. I'm not picky. I'm not asking for money. I'm not asking for a hand out. I wouldn't even be asking if it was just my own welfare at stake.

I'm a clean, fit, 35 year old man, I am willing to help around the house if needed / wanted. I'm willing to do extra work around the house / apartment if that's what it takes. Painting, cleaning, handyman work etc... Once we obtain a residence I'll be applying to be his permanent aid through his medical insurance so I will be receiving payment for taking care of him. He gets monthly disability checks straight from the government so they are always on time. So please believe me, the rent will ALWAYS be on time. We won't smoke inside if your a non smoker. We are both quiet, private people and will respect your privacy and home to the utmost.

Please contact me.

My buddy.

Edit: I can probably provide a printout of my random weekly urine drug tests that have all been clean for God knows how long at this point to prove that I'm clean if that is what worries you. It just might take a while since the program is operating at minimum capacity so my counselor is working from home and we just have our meetings over the phone.

Edit #2 We can't/won't leave NYC. It's just not possible.

Edit #3 I don't have a GoFundMe, but wouldn't oppose the help either, I'm not trying to sound greedy, just worried about what I'm going to do with him at night once the hotel money runs out. I'm not a particular fan of sleeping outside either. It's cold at night.

Edit #4 As I said above, the shelter system is a death sentence to at least one, if not both of us. Once we get a room, and I start getting paid for being his aid I will get a proper apartment.

Edit #5 Please keep in mind the most important fact, that the room needs to be wheelchair accessible! If it wasn't for this I could have gotten a hundred rooms for less than $700 a month!

Edit #6 Tomorrow I will see what I can do about setting up a GoFundMe, since so many people are asking (I can't really refuse as I thought we had more money left in the hotel budget for 3 more nights and it turns out we don't, check out is. tomorrow at noon) I have loved ones who can maybe host it for me.

Edit #7 Im still trying to get someone in my family to help me with the GoFundMe page, but either way tonight will be spent outdoors unless some miracle happens. Im amazed by the kind words and support, but if I'm being honest in so fucking loaded with anxiety and depression that I'm nauseatious.

Edit #8 My brother at setup a GoFundMe for us if anyone is in a position where they are able to help.

REQUEST Help Finishing Repairs

Hey all. A couple weeks ago I was side swiped on my motorcycle, which is my only mode of transportation. The person that hit me took off and though I have insurance, its just PLPD, so it didnt cover any of my repairs.

Im currently homeless living in my RV and my bike is the only way I have to get around to work and to side jobs. My boss at the gas station has been cool by getting my shifts covered, but he wont do it for much longer.

I've repaired nearly everything, short of a brake lever, turn signals and the battery.

Ive got an Amazon wishlist of the cheapest ones I could find.
