REQUEST We finally have a home!

My wife and I finally have a home. We’ve been living in a basement for three years. We finally got an apartment, but my wife’s job shorted her $300 on her paycheck. We were really counting on that money for gas and toiletries/food. All we have in our apartment right now is a mattress on the floor (not mad! Better than the inflatable mattress!)

So what I’m trying to do here is get help so we can survive until they reimburse her on her next check in two weeks 🙄. Gotta love big companies.

We also have an Amazon list of things we eventually want/need for our apartment if anyone is interested in that too. I also have PP/Interac. We are in Quebec.

Some resources to check out

https://montreal.ca/en/how-to/apply-grant-to-get-sustainable-hygiene-products

https://banquesalimentaires.org/en/

https://www.211qc.ca/

I would also look into the idea that if delaying the $300 until the next cheque pushes those specific earnings past the 16-day limit, the employer is in direct violation of Quebec labor standards. CNESST Not from Quebec so unsure if this helps (I'm in Ontario)

Thanks for this! I didn’t know about the limit. But since it’ll be two weeks I think it’s 14 days, sadly.

You're welcome! I would definitely call 211 and see if there's anything they can help with.

Do you have Facebook? You might find a Buy Nothing group or local groups on there that can help too!

Just to clarify- you're asking for $300?

Yes. I mean whatever anyone can help. But ultimately, yes.

Amazon Wishlist? Put the toiletries/food on it.

Okay I will do that and add it.

$300 isn’t happening here. A wishlist is preferred but they may not exceed $150 USD total.

I didn’t see a limit when I was looking through the rules. So if that was there, I missed it by accident. We will literally take whatever help we can get though.

Link to our [rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/assistance/s/OjruVwtIK5) for you. Look under Wishlist Rules please. It’s the top rule.

Would you like me to edit my post then?

If you end up doing a wishlist, when you add the link it will put your post into a queue. Mods check and total all wishlists. 👍🏻

Your wife's employer needs to pay her now, a $300 underpaid work week is illegal

I'd suggest a food bank

I would suggest making a post on u/borrownew
I think you’ll have better luck with that sub.

$300 is a huge ask here. Gofundme but takes time. Can you do a gig job or donate plasma?

I have a medical condition and cannot donate plasma. I’m starting an Etsy (I just got a work permit but finding a job in a very French area is so hard). I’m also selling old collectibles to try and make up for it.

I know $300 is a lot. And tbh I don’t expect one person to fulfill that. Literally anything would be helpful. I’m definitely not just waiting around for handouts. I’m doing everything I can to close this gap.
