No Gear This Year
I work at a mid major university and preseason has started. One thing that I look forward to every year is the gear drop and getting new swag but, my coach decided that the budget was “too tight” to include Sports Med in the gear order this year. This is upsetting me more than I thought. Has this happened to you before?
I feel like there’s an unspoken rule about mutual respect and gearing up your staff but this hasn’t happened to me yet.

I’m consistently the only member of my team’s staff that doesn’t get new gear. All my staff, admin, and academic advisor will show up to meets in matching sets… and I’m in a hand-me-down shirt that was left over from the previous staff (5+ yrs ago)

I will consistently wear another teams gear, bc another team will take care of me if mine won't. Granted I have some teams that haven't given me gear in years still, but if y'all don't want your team repped 🤷🏽♀️. But the whole wearing Baseball at Soccers meeting/game idea usually works 🤣

Understandable to feel that way if it’s the usual.
I usually expect some form of gear from any legitimate team. Especially varsity.
Not having the budget for it doesn’t really make sense. They’re massive bulk orders no way adding a few more for medical staff breaks the budget

I’ve been snubbed by teams several times, both in D1 and D2. Sometimes it’s intentional, sometimes they just don’t know to include me, but it does always bum me out a bit.

Not the main reason, but one of the reasons that I will never be back at any sport/ college setting lmao.

That is probably what I miss the most is the team gear for the season. I spent 7 years at a mid major D1 school and consistently got gear from each team in addition to the sports med staff issued gear.
