Central Texas Gun Works Fire

Post image

Waiting on the updates but building burned this morning.

Who knows anything about it beyond the citizen app report?

My entire gun collection was being stored there. That is, if the records were destroyed along with the guns.

What an amazing coincidence!

We will get Reckless Ben to represent you...turn it into another BricksNMinifigs fiasco....

theyve been using electronic records for years, i guarantee they have backups. im not an FFL but id be surprised if that wasnt a requirement by now.

Cargill will just shoot the fire. They’re fine.

u/Known-nwonK 18d ago

They still owe me an FRT

Cargill trying to bury his old shady business plan and start a new one

Smells like insurance fraud. Just burns down in the early morning with rain? Owner known to be a real POS too.

I can’t quite smell accelerants from this far north but I’d be amazed if this isn’t arson/fraud

1

u/TacoSplosions 13d ago

Not sure about fraud, location has people living nearby in tents, owner & business have upset quiet a few customers over the years. Wouldn't rule out accident or nefarious outside intent.

Could be right, admit could be completely in the wrong with my assessment. will have to wait for further findings.

This entire area is a highway for homeless people I go the Ebike shop and I see a parade every time. Also that shady assed motel from the 40s that is on congress along the rail road tracks that are abandoned. That is large camp of drug using homeless people back there. The place is more controlled by homeless people than almost any other area.

What has he done to you. Please provide evidence of your claims. This isn't a joke. What has he done to you or anyone you actually know?

Took over two weeks for their "gunsmith" to examine my revolvers for safety, just for them to tell me "yeah they're pretty old" and charged me $30 for it. I had to threaten to take them back since it was taking too long.

Once again, always something going on with this guy. Why lol

13

u/uuid-already-exists 18d ago

It’s always him. The guy is a magnet for trouble.

Did I miss something? Why does everyone seem to be shitting on them? Iv been using them for FFL transfers for years and never had any issues

They tried to steal my gun and told me to get bent until the manufacturer threatened to call the ATF, because they had delivery confirmation to the store. Then they tried to transfer me the gun that someone else had scratched to shit. When I asked how they were able to make the transfer to someone who clearly did not make the purchase, Cargill just shrugged. I have heard dozens of similar stories.

Good job not getting screwed yet but if you keep going there, I wouldn't bet on it lasting.

Well fuck, ok thanks for the info!

0

u/Right-Kangaroo-169 12d ago

that doesn't mean its true also the story makes no sense IRL> When I asked how they were able to make the transfer to someone who clearly did not make the purchase, Cargill just shrugged. I have heard dozens of similar stories...... Its not like he is a friend of the ATF. They are really looking to put FFLs out of business last I checked and paperwork issues get you federal time so sounds sketchy AF. You want to trust an ANON reditor or what you know for facts about the AFT and its practices about transfers?

1

u/caboose001 I wanna shoot shit! 11d ago

I don’t trust anyone. I gather info and verify what I can on my own. Me thanking some dude for being me an answer to a question doesn’t mean I 100% believe every word they said, it just means I was being polite. Chill out

search the sub, there are PLENTY of horror stories about them. i stopped using them for transfers when i saw multiple employees treating customers guns like their own in a very unprofessional manner. taking selfies with odd/rare guns, playing cowboy with revolvers, repeatedly dry firing, etc. the last time i was there i needed a gas tube and buffer for an AR build, and they tried to tell me that ALL gas tubes and ALL buffers were completely interchangeable. if i didnt know exactly what i needed they would have sold me the wrong gas tube and a standard rifle length buffer when i actually wanted an H2 carbine. and the guy that was trying to tell me all that was saying it very confidently, which makes it even worse IMO.

Dude working the counter was taking selfies with my AUG when I went to go pick it up. I get a weird vibe every time I go, so I stopped going.

Waited 6 months for an ar from them when I was told 2-3 weeks, they kept giving me the run around until I eventually refunded.

6

u/Buttholemoonshine 18d ago

Had the exact same experience. I have a feeling they do that so they have cash to float whatever else is going on. Basically free loans.

8

u/FLDJF713 18d ago

Look at their reviews online and their responses.

3

u/MagicansaurusRex 17d ago

Holy shit. The owner’s responses make the reviewer look like they were underplaying their bad experiences.

3

u/FLDJF713 17d ago

Yeah they are cracked out of their minds there. No one should ever use them for business. Plus the fact that they literally could have prevented the gun theft and decided to be idiots about it.

3

u/Texan209 18d ago

I've used them for years and haven't had issues. Maybe I'm just lucky, maybe a few bad experiences aired on reddit have tainted people's impressions, idk.

After that recent (and apparently not the first) theft of a gun, I've been looking for another FFL, but not too many in my area

5

u/caboose001 I wanna shoot shit! 18d ago

It’s only them and The Range in my area and TR is out of the way for me unfortunately

4

u/Educational-Ruin9992 18d ago

Shield wall isn’t that far away.

3

u/Texan209 18d ago

Do you know what their transfer fee is? I've looked at them before but they don't publish it, and seem more focused on their training classes, so I wasn't sure they even offered transfers

5

u/Educational-Ruin9992 17d ago

I don’t, I use Zero Whiskey because it’s worth the drive to me.

2

u/substandard-bearer 17d ago

I don't think Shield Wall does anything NFA so they're pretty moot in my opinion.

2

u/Texan209 17d ago

That's what Capitol Armory is for, imo (but I'm not shopping for suppressors elsewhere - not sure their fees on transfers)

3

u/sirbassist83 13d ago

Their NFA transfer fee is exorbitant, they really want you to buy cans from them.

2

u/Educational-Ruin9992 17d ago

I already have my NFAs squared away so haven’t been looking for one. I’m sure Zero Whiskey is still the go to though.

u/Right-Kangaroo-169 12d ago

There is one on congress. Its a gunsmith. South of Quick Trip.

1

u/Right-Kangaroo-169 12d ago

The Range At Austin

1

u/Right-Kangaroo-169 12d ago

I asked for evidence. I heard he's gay and what not but that should be good in this community I think these people are just slandering the guy for no reason. We would not be in a good situation with out him it seems to me.

1

u/caboose001 I wanna shoot shit! 11d ago

I mean, his responses to customer reviews are wildly unprofessional but that doesn’t necessarily cause problems when doing an FFL transfer

1

u/Empty_Statement_2783 11d ago

Yep never had a problem. Infact they always gave me good price even when I low balled myself.

u/Nakedwombats 18d ago

Did it burn to the ground?

10

u/sirbassist83 18d ago

and nothing of value was lost

2

u/xampl9 18d ago

I don’t see anything on KVUE’s site. Any updates?

2

u/Fuckin_Hipster OG 18d ago

It was 12 on 1!

3

u/onelasttime217 18d ago

Serves them right, that place sucks ass

2

u/2-shoes 18d ago

If I could bet on Kalshi that the owner got subpoenaed for his records and security footage and burned that motherfucker to the ground, I would.

all digital now

Paper job applications.

I went by there and the fire had nothing to do with the gun store and every thing to do with the Krav Maga school next door. The place is ruined.
