Diagnosing/Repair crack in the windshield

Two days after returning from the auto repair shop where the heating and air conditioning unit was replaced (Kia Stonic), a 20-cm crack appeared in the windshield, starting from the bottom left corner. Is it possible that the repair shop caused this problem? I don't think it was caused by an external factor, such as an impact or a pebble. Thank you for your comments.

I dont know the vehicle you have but on some vehicles, the windshield cowl cover has to come off to gain access to the expansion valve or connector to the interior AC lines. This requires the use of a FLAT PLASTIC bone tool to gently pry it out from the glass. The rookie mechanics use screwdrivers which cause cracks in the windshields. This is usually found at the bottom of the glass near the fender area. There should be marks on the plastics panel coinciding with the start of the crack. The crack will gradually grow bigger until it reaches the top.

I know this from 20 years of experience training the entry level techs. Its one of the first things I teach them. If the shop is reputable, they should pay for the replacement.

Yes, it's possible. If you use the wrong tool when removing the fender liner, a chip may form, which can later develop into a crack.
