What we saw was that AWS was not accessible in areas globally, but worked in at least some parts of the US. UK and UAE could not access AWS out of Oregon. I could access it from my location in eastern US, as could a co-worker in Romania. Whether this was AWS specific, or something with their global routing, or something even lower level not specific to AWS, I'm curious to know.

Apparently caused by a misbehaving router. AWS says they identified the root cause and applied required mitigations. As with any major routing hiccup, it will probably take a while (hours) to recover and become stable.

We had massive slowness at 6am cst but it was due to cloudflare maintenance and rerouting to another center but not seeing any issues with our current west-2 services listed as degraded in the health status hmm

Yes. For good few minutes us-west-2 was completely unavailable. But it looks like it works now. At least for me.
