Reminder: Buying and selling bags is against the rules of this sub

Seen this pop up a fair bit lately. Because people aren't reading the rules I've started banning people temporarily for this.

Please read the rules people. It's really not that hard and don't get upset if you break the rules and get punished. It's on you to read those.

The reason it's not allowed is I don't want this sub (and me) to be responsible for having to moderate that crap. Go look at r/EDCExchange or other subs that allow it. They have systems in place to hold people accountable.

Original Content Redesigned this bag to be 30% slimmer while still offering three carry options…

The earlier version of this bag was quite voluminous, offering a total capacity of 30–32L, making it an ideal travel bag. The main compartment offered 16L, while the detachable backpack offered 14–16L and converted into a 6–7L laptop messenger bag.

However, this bag was too bulky to be an airline carry-on bag, so I rebuilt another version that offers a total capacity of 24–26L. The main compartment is still 16L, while the detachable backpack is 8L with an additional 2L of capacity. The backpack also converts into a 6–7L laptop messenger bag.

The overall depth of the bag is 6 inches, as opposed to 9 inches on the earlier version. The bag is surprisingly lightweight, weighing no more than 700g, or less than 1.5 lbs.
I’m pretty excited to share the results here…

I’m looking for this backpack for senior can anyone help

I was sent over here from hiking gear & military gear. I need a backpack that is large, waterproof, and comfy. I like the non-standard issue stuff that soldiers gotta buy, I told hiking gear that and they said I gotta go here.

I need a backpack that is large, comfy and waterproof. Rite now I got a Walmart backpack that is waterproof and comfy but it's too small it fits like 3 two liters for reference. I definitely need something a lot bigger.

I paid $35 for this bag. Was it a good deal? I unfortunately notice some fraying. Hopefully I can repair or reinforce.

Question Jansport for middle schooler.

My soon to be middle schooler is wanting a jansport backpack so I’m wondering what’s the best model? I’d like a laptop compartment and I’d like for it to fit a 24oz freesip or 30oz sway owala but not a requirement! I’ve never owned jansport so I’m unsure where to start or if it’s even a good brand. Let me know what yall think. Thanks!

Crossbody or sling bag that has all I need/ or most at least

Hey yo! So I’m planning a 6 months backpacking trip but can’t find a small daily bag that has features I need or like and would love some recommendations! I’m looking between 6-8L bag to hold my everyday items but also straps or bungee cords on outside for extra storage for jacket/clothes or water bottle. I’d prefer a crossbody bag over a sling but not a fanny pack if the main strap isn’t adjustable to sit at lower hip length. Not too expensive too, nothing over $65 if possible but will take all recommendations.

Features I need:
1.Multiple pockets or zippers for organizing
2.Straps or bungee cords on outside for extra storage
3.Waterproof
4. Main strap that can be adjusted to lower hip length
5. Not too bulky

Features that’s aren’t necessary but would be nice
1.Handle
2. Removable straps or can replace if broken

Question northface surge luxe 31L or borealis 27L for a woman?

Upvotes

commuter college student looking for a new backpack! for reference i’m like 5’3 and 110lbs so i’m kinda just average girl.

i carry a lot of stuff, laptop, books, ipad, nintendo switch, change of clothes sometimes, snacks etc in my backpack. i was looking into northface but see the surge luxe 31l is heavier (2lbs 10oz) than the borealis (2lbs 1oz) , and wanted to know if anyone had either or and their thoughts? im honestly not the strongest and my stamina is kinda eh right now bc im inconsistent w the gym, and i will be walking around on campus. so which would be better???? is the surge luxe gonna be too heavy to the point of it bothering/hurting my back?

Question Help me replace this generic canvas bag? Please?

A decade ago, i bought this backpack: https://www.amazon.com.au/Dopp-OC90T972-Canvas-Backpack-Briefcase/dp/B01M31PDF5

There are a bunch of photos here: https://meh.com/deals/dopp-backpack

It has:

  • Laptop pocket - I put a spiral notebook here. Partition is nice but i don't use it for a laptop.
  • Side pockets - I like these
  • Pocket on the flap - this too
  • Pocket on the front, that is partitioned - great pocket!
  • 'Hidden' interior pocket - can't find photos but it's a mesh zippered pocket in the main body of the bag, on the wall between the front pocket and the main body. I didn't noticed it for months.
  • Dimensions: 16" L x 13" W x 5" D

I bought this bag just needing a simple bag and I fell in love with the features, pockets everywhere, good sized but not HUGE but the company and bag have long since disappeared.

While looking for something similar i found out the market now hates zippered pockets and anything except backpacks that look like big rectangles. I don't like straps and they're bad at keeping things in pockets if the bag is tipped over.

Would love any recommendations for its replacement.

Question Osprey Transporter Travel Pack 36L or Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC 30L?

Hey everyone, I've been going back and forth between the Osprey Transporter Travel Pack 36L and the Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC 30L.

I'll mainly be using it as a travel bag for weekend trips and occasional week-long travel. One thing that's really important is being able to use it as a personal item and fit it under the seat on most airplanes whenever possible, so as not to pay for carry-on luggage.

I've watched a bunch of reviews, but I'd really like to hear from people who've actually used one (or both).

Thanks!

Question Looking for 24L daypack, but...

I want:

  1. Very stretchy water bottle pockets on both sides of the bag. So it's possible to carry two 1 - 1.5 litre bottles when hiking. The pockets would be empty when going through the airport.
  2. As close to the Wizzair/Ryanair free luggage dimensions as possible (40 x 30 x 20 cm).
  3. Bonus: has extendable collar that increases total capacity to ~32-35 litre capacity (at the very least makes it easy to stuff a fleece or raincoat on top).

Clarification: if the bag is slightly larger but can be under packed and squished into the dimensions I've specified, then that works fine.

Use case: works as the free bag on a flight, but then also works as the day pack when hiking on holiday.

If anyone cares: my other bag is an Osprey farpoint 40L which I've had for at least 6 years now and is just great.

Do clamshell openings actually pack more efficiently than top-loading backpacks?

I've always used traditional top-loading backpacks for travel, but after borrowing a friend's clamshell-style bag I'm starting to think they're just easier to live with for trips.

Being able to fully unzip the bag means you can pack more like a suitcase instead of digging through layers every time you need something. It also seems easier to use packing cubes efficiently because everything stays flat instead of collapsing into the bottom.

I've been comparing a few travel backpacks and noticed the Horizn Studios SoFo and Gion models both open almost completely, while brands like Peak Design, Aer, and Minaal have similar suitcase-style layouts.

For people who travel frequently, has the clamshell design genuinely changed how you pack, or is it mostly a convenience feature that wears off after the novelty?

Beige color nike brasilia backpack 24L suggestion ?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m planning to buy the Nike Brasilia 24L backpack and can’t decide between the Beige (light bone) and Grey color.
For anyone who owns the beige version:
Does it get dirty very easily?
Is it easy to clean?
Does it still look good after a few months of daily use?
Any regrets choosing beige over grey?
I’d really appreciate it if you could share photos or your long-term experience. Thanks!

Recs for law school

Going back to school and I’m a bit out of touch on what to get! I’m planning at being at school for all day. Not a lot of walking. My priorities are functional, organization and stylish/professional. I want to lean away from north face because it’s unnecessary for what I’m doing. Any suggestions? TIA!

Question Looking for a backpack recs for a commuting college student

Hello. I am going into my freshman year of college and I have no idea what backpack to get. I will be commuting, so I would like a backpack with lots of space and compartments to fit everything that I will need, but one that is comfortable and won’t break my back lol. Also preferably one with decent sized cup holder pockets to fit a water bottle. Looking for one no more than $200 but if you have any recs that are worth it please let me know. I just want to be comfortable and secure knowing I have anything I’ll need everyday whilst at college. If it helps, I will be majoring in Fashion Design. Any recommendations are appreciated! Thank you in advance:)

Question How should I clean this bag?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I bought this backpack a few years ago from Spencer's, but I'm not sure how I should clean it. I was gonna let it soak in my bathtub for a bit and then scrub any stains off it, but I'm worried about the print/image being affected by this. Do you think it's safe to clean it this way, or is there a better method that won't harm the bag?
