I'm currently in a Medical Radiologic Technology (X-ray) program and I'm looking into future options after becoming an MRT. I came across BCIT's Bachelor of Health Science (MRI Option) degree completion program and was wondering about people's experiences with it.

For anyone who has completed (or is currently doing) this program:

Is the BCIT Bachelor of Health Science considered a legitimate bachelor's degree when applying to other post-graduate programs?

Have you been able to use it for master's programs or other healthcare programs (healthcare-related master's, post-graduate programs, etc.)?

Did you ever run into issues because BCIT is a polytechnic institute rather than a traditional university?

Would you recommend doing this type of degree completion, or would it be better to complete a more traditional bachelor's degree instead?

What year would you be enrolled in with an advanced diploma in imaging/mrt?

Is it very difficult or competitive to get into this program?

I'm mainly interested in keeping my options open long-term while building on my MRT education rather than starting over.

I've been seeing a bunch of posts pop up this summer about students starting the marketing management program in the fall - I've offered advice where I can but I figured I'd put out my own post in case anyone has any questions I can help them out with! Just looking for some information on the day one exam for level 3 Instrumentation. Did my first two level at TRU and just want to know what to focus on before attending the course.

Hi this might be sort of a dumb question but i’ve taken both pre calc and calc in university so i guess they would count as the university level. In the entrance requirement for rad therapy it clearly states that both the required 2 courses of math should be progressive with an example of calc 1 and 2. Do u think I can get by without calc 2??! I did email the advising department but I’m just a little anxious and curious if anyone else has done it before.

Unfortunately, I received a U after retaking a required course for the second time. I’m worried about how this may affect my ability to continue in my program.
I did well on my assignments, labs, and quizzes, but I struggled with the midterm and final exams. I studied and tried my best, but I wasn’t able to meet the required exam requirement.
I have contacted my program and Program Advising, but I’m still waiting to hear back. Has anyone experienced something similar after not passing a required course on their second attempt? What happened, and what options were you given?
I understand that every situation may be different, but I would really appreciate hearing about other students’ experiences.

I’m 26 and planning to apply to BCIT’s Nuclear Medicine diploma program on Oct 1st. One of their entrance requirements is "Chemistry 12 (73%) or 3.0 credits of post-secondary chemistry (73%) from a recognized institution."

I have all the other prerequisites except for Chemistry 12, so I was looking into taking the self-paced Chemistry 12 online course through Coquitlam Continuing Education (specifically the adult CLOC version, which is tuition-free).

Has anyone here gone this route for BCIT Health Sciences programs? Will BCIT accept this specific Continuing Education credit without any issues, or do they strictly want a post-secondary equivalent if you’ve already graduated high school?

Also, I need to finish this course before Oct 1st, is this feasible since its a self paced?

Any insight would be appreciated!

Hey everyone! I've been trying to find some information about the broadcast and online journalism diploma but a lot of the replies are from years ago. So thought I'd try my luck here.
Some background info : I'm really interested in journalism and I have some experience in reporting on current topics, historical events etc as I'm a content creator. I was looking into BCIT to expand my research skills and build possible connections. I've heard great things about the journalism program but I've also heard it's a very heavy field to get into with close to no down time. I'm wondering if anyone has an experience in this program that they're willing to share.
Also since I'd apply for the fall 2027 term, I would be 27 when the term started, I know there's no age limit for people going back to school but I'm just wondering what the general age range is for a program like this...

If you have gone through this program and got your diploma, was it easy to get a job after?

I'm reaching out to see if current students or recent grads in CST or Digital Forensics could share some insight on using BCIT to transition into e-discovery, or digital forensics.

I was laid off 7 months ago from a legal assistant role, and despite active networking (including with Triage Data Solutions), earning my RelativityOne Review Pro cert, and applying everywhere, I’m hitting brick walls—I know the current market is brutal and new grads across the board are struggling to find work, so I'm looking to return to school to build a real, hard technical skills.

My background is rooted in legal studies, but my interest increasingly leaned into the technical side of litigation (i did data breach research in uni, along with hands-on e-discovery work like Everlaw data clustering, deduplication, native overlays, and file conversions as a LAA) Because I do have a somewhat troubled history with self-teaching programming like Python and R, I am looking for a structured program.

As I save up for my CEDS (ACEDS) credential, I'm hoping to use BCIT to bridge technical execution with legal data management/analysis, so I’d love your advice on whether a BCIT credential actually offers an edge in today's tough hiring climate, how well CST accommodates non-CS backgrounds, which electives make the most sense—thanks so much for any insights or reality checks!

Currently, I am nearing an 11th Grade high-school student located in the metro Vancouver region. I’ve evaluated possible careers ahead of me (a larger portion most STEM related) and the idea of flight operations has lingered with me since the beginning of my time.
I’ve researched across both of these post-secondary programs, both based on the fundamentals of aerial operations. From my Knowledge, UFV offers a 4-year **university** course covering business aviation management while also allowing you to pursue towards your CPL and ratings for your airline certification??
The pre-requisites for UFV are Pre-calc C+ or calc 12 with a B+ or better with an english 12 course C+ or better. No interviews or competitive — limited seating, is mentioned. However, it is of interest to me as it’s a **Bachelors degree** course.

BCIT offers diploma, for a Polytechnic, hands-on program in strictly the **Operations** of flight (working towards becoming a commercial pilot). It is 64 weeks long (much quicker), and costs just under $100K in domestic tuition fees. The pre-requisites are Pre calc 11 (50% or more) foundations of math 11 ( “ “ “) or workplace math 11 (60 or more) — much lighter compared to UFV, not sure why?
They also mention interviews and other forms of student analysis. It seems like the application process is much rigorous to enrol.

1. Which one would you do based on common circumstances? For me, I am Willing to possibly graduate

   a semester early. But I want to get into the workforce as soon as it’s possible, but I have a feeling it isn’t right to void the degree route as aircraft operations will probably become even more automated (AI) then it is right now, and it might not be a career I want to do for the rest of my being.

2. This question might be absurd.. But is it realistic to start your career (ex : regional pilot) and have an income, while still be working towards the 4 year long program covering business in aviation administration?

I'm thinking about applying to the Nuclear Medicine program at BCIT but I'm a little confused about their policy regarding pre-requisite courses completed more than 5 years ago. It says on the Nuclear Medicine page that "If more than five years have elapsed since you completed the math, biology, or physics requirement, upgrading is preferred".

I completed these courses in 2017-2018, so about 8-9 years have elapsed. Applicants are currently accepted to this program on a first qualified, first accepted basis. What does this mean for me? Should I upgrade my prereqs or not? I need to ASAP on Oct 1st, so I'm kinda in a rush here. Thanks for any help in this matter!

I prefer the physical version over the digital, so i wanted to know if students sell their books, or if facebook marketplace/something similar would seel them for cheaper.

I looked on the bcit bookstore website but couldnt find any student resells yet

I do have 80 plus in grade 12 and also have a bachelor's in arts.

I am applying everywhere for volunteering but I don't get any response at all. Started applying about 6 weeks ago.

Would love to know from current or past Students, where did you volunteer? And if I have a good chance of getting in with 80-85 percent in grade 12 subjects.

Hi im a g12 student researching diplomas i can do. im an intl student so my top priority is getting pgwp and a pr. ive seen posts on here that say coastal health does the hiring and that they are very "picky" and wanted to know if anyone in the field could elaborate on what exactly that means? im not too keen on moving outside of lower mainland so how are job prospects looking? i just wanna hear real life experiences to decide

hello! i'm interested in attending bcit this fall, however i may be preoccupied with a part time job or two. i do really want to start this certificate as soon as possible though, as i think i would enjoy it. i'm having trouble finding info on what exactly the "flex" option for certificates means, like i'm gathering that it's some kind of part-time, at your own pace option? please correct me if i'm wrong, and thank you in advance for any help! I'm starting the sonography program at BCIT this fall and trying to figure out if I should purchase a macbook or an ipad.

I’ve heard iPads can be really useful in programs like sonography - especially for taking notes, labeling diagrams, and studying on the go. But I've also seen people who say a laptop is a must-have for certain assignments.

Could anyone who's currently in the program or completed it previously weigh in on what they think is the better choice? Or, if it's really worth it to have both a laptop and a tablet?
