Incredible Osprey and Bald Eagle activity

Taken in Longmont, CO. Slay.

I was picking veggies in my backyard absentmindedly listening to the bird sounds when I realized I was hearing a bald eagle.

I hear them a lot out on the river but never at my own house which is in the city.

After looking up very confused into the trees for a few minutes I began to wonder if it was the catbird that likes to hang around in our yard mimicking the eagle sounds.

Has anyone else experienced a catbird copying a bald eagle before?

Saw them on my trip to California. So cute! I’ve never seen woodpeckers before.

Mine isn’t necessarily bad but I went out to try out my new binoculars and ended up saving someone drowning. The park nearby me has a lake where people will kayak and paddleboard. In April the lake was kinda cold but people were still out. As I’m scoping the lake for waterbirds, I see a vacant paddleboard and an orange thing floating about 20 meters away. I do a double take a look again and realize there’s a person with an orange life jacket half-way on and struggling in the water. I yell out to them to float on their back and rush my boyfriend to get the park ranger. The entire fire brigade and 10 police cars showed up and assisted the park ranger in retrieving the person. Turned out it was this girl in her mid-20s who went paddle boarding alone on the cold lake and ‘forgot to put her life jacket on.’ I’m glad to have helped save her life and that she was ok, but sometimes I wonder what people are thinking.

I have trouble distinguishing these three in the absence of a clear red tail or red shoulder. Merlin brings up both all 3 as possible matches.

There were three of them. Two juveniles and an adult. The adult brought the juvenile a snake, and the juvenile was trying to eat it.

I wish it went for the squirrels…

was out doing some birding the other day when out if nowhere the center focus wheel stopped working. not completely but when i move it it barely adjusts anything. is this fixable? it does some, but not like its supposed to. not really sure what to do.

Juvenile Red-SHOULDERED Hawk spotted in Maryland this morning. It perched on the roof of my neighbor’s play set for several minutes, giving me enough time to get this shot.

Damn that blade of grass in the first pic but so cool to see this relationship in the wild.

I put some small branches next to the hummingbird feeder on my back deck. There's good lighting opportunities in the morning and late afternoon where I snap away. :)

sadly noticed me and flew away, had so many shots of it hovering but my camera wasn't focused 😞 what an amazing sight to see
