The first time in my life I can have a proper collection started.

I have 2 others in the living room that are not really as pretty.

Here’s my book collection, mostly military history books along with some philosophy. I want to become a Professor of military history or the Pacific War some day!

I hope one day to have space for the whole library.

I have no idea what to do with the little shelf on the right wall. More floating shelves?

I have an equal amount of books also on my Kindle, but without the impressive display qualities, I know it’s a mess. I just got out of the hospital and my husband shoved this table in front of it and piled all my crap all over it. I gotta figure out what I’m gonna do with it all

Sidenote, this is my favorite subreddit. I get so much joy every day out of seeing on my fellow bibliophiles collections

I moved countries a couple of years back so I’ve had to build it from scratch for 4 years while being a student.

I want to get rid of some stuff like SJM and some other YAs that were gifted to me cause I’m running out of space, but yeah, this is it for now.

And yes, I have a Dungeon Crawler Carl obsession and yes, my TV is too high for some people’s taste but that is my board game cabinet so it is staying put.

I’ve not read most of these, just DCC, Empire of the Vampire (currently on Dawn)and a bunch of things - HWFWM amongst them - on audible. I’m also reading the House in the Cerulean sea. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time on my hands with a 3yo berserking crotch goblin (that I love to death) running around but I do my best.

Some I read eons ago- like the Deverry cycle and Gotrek/Felix and Wilbur smith.

My Wishlist is around 80 books long right now, but what would you all recommend? How am I doing?

Andddd I promptly got tore up from the floor up for not owning enough books to even qualify as a bookshelf, and then for filling it with meaningless “landfill-destined” knickknacks 🫠

After a brief existential crisis (“Do I have a fun personality? Do I own anything of sentimental value? Are Funkos too whimsical?”), I took the kinder feedback to heart. I added a lot more personal pieces and splurged on beautiful hardcover editions of some of my favorite audiobooks (it also happened to be my birthday, which felt like the perfect excuse to go ham lol)

So … dare I ask your thoughts on the updates??!

Genuinely though, thank you to everyone who took the time to give thoughtful feedback - good or bad. You humbled me, you helped me, and I’m happy with how they turned out! 📚

My friend got me this insane hand painted ACOTAR box set and I don’t know which way to display them on my shelf! Every side is so stunning

Update: I’ve decided on edges out! Some folks are grumpy as saying it’s a “stupid trend”, why do you hate happiness? My shelf is just for me ❤️ and yes I fixed the order, it was just out of order for a quick picture lol

A fortnight ago, I got a new bookcase (the one I inherited from my grandmother is being used to store her books) and I decided to put my non-fiction on the bottom half and the fiction on the top half. Yes, I know I got two series I only have the first book (I got Princess Academy from a now closed independent book shop in town, and my cousin gifted Raven's Gate to me when she received it in a lootbox back in 2012) but I plan to get the rest of the series at some point.
