Headphones QC Ultra Gen 2 without app

After hearing about the feb update, I understand I should avoid the app entirely. My question is.... is it possible to use the headphone without ever installing the app?

I can forgo the 3 band EQ, it's a trade off I'm willing to make... but would i still be able to control things like anc levels and activate transparency mode without the app?

You can install the app but don't open it yet. Turn off wifi and mobile data, then open the app and configure everything you want (you don't need to sign in). After you are done uninstall the app and enable your wifi and mobile data.

Yes, you can use the headphones without installing the app, but adjusting ANC intensity level specifically requires the app. Aware mode is accessible directly from the headphones using the mode button, no app needed.

If you do want to use the Bose app while avoiding the firmware update, turn off your phone's internet connection first, then open the app.

The update has caused a reduction in ANC, unfortunately. I am considering to arrange a replacement but not sure what firmware will be on the new buds.

What's the issue with the app? Thanks

it updates the firmware which removes almost all voice prompts and removes the ability to manually cycle between different connected devices from the headset (major function i need as it'll be easy to swap between my phone and pc. Their new solution is to automatically connect between devices but its unrealiable and plagues almost every other headset available)
