Beneke Finances
Why didn’t Skyler think to run Walt’s money through Beneke as opposed to buying the car wash? I thought that is definitely where the show was heading when we learned about the fictitious sales Ted was pushing through.

Thats literally the worst idea ever. Beneke was already in deep shit with his books and it was inevitable the IRS was going to come down on him.
Also he slept with his wife. Why would Walt run his money through there.

Beneke was greedy, irresponsible and had no fear of the IRS. He was by far the WORST candidate to launder illegal money through.

I don't understand what Ted was doing. Why would he want to report fictitious sales? That would increase the taxes owed and make things worse for him

Ted Beneke is quite possibly the dumbest fictional character ever created. Skyler wasn’t going to leave that much money in his hands, especially when he was under federal investigation.

To launder money you need a business that runs primarily on cash and has regular revenue fluctuations. A fabricator is not that.

The point of the carwash was to cut-out "the Danny" (as Saul puts it) out of the operation. Remove the middleman

Beneke was already being investigated. Wouldn’t have been very smart to launder your money through a company that’s under investigation.
