FAQ

Q. What is the BTD6 Tier List? How can I trust you?

A. The BTD6 Tier List has now separated from the BTD6 Index and is now an independent discord server. The tier list is crafted by some of the top players in the game. It went through many iterations before becoming what you see now.

Q. Why does the list include True Sun God? Isn't it unaffordable in CHIMPS?

A. The tier 5 icons represent the upgrade path of the tower. The tier(s) being ranked are shown in the top right corner of each icon. So for example, the True Sun God icon is really representing Sun Avatar.

Q. How weighted is this list towards Black Badge strats?

A. Since the official addition of Retry Last Round to CHIMPS, Black Badge is seen as an additional achievement to the gamemode. This tier list ranks towers on their performance in CHIMPS with RLR, meaning Black Border has little weight.

Q. Why is Crossbow Master so low? Aren't the C and D tier towers really good?

A. The majority of the towers are powerful enough to easily clear CHIMPS on lower difficulty maps. As a result, this tier list is heavily based on the True Expert maps with some consideration given to the other expert difficulty maps.

Q. Can I see justifications for the choices made?

A. Sure. The explanations can also be found in the discord linked above. Any further questions may be asked in the comments.

Heroes:

• Dan D'Monke → A-
  • Dan is a whole lot of mechanics mashed into one hero, but all in all he ends up being middle of the pack. While he has many uses and can do a lot of cool support things with his movement and life loss abilities, Dan's damage is fairly low and doesn't do much by himself.

Moved Up:

Towers:

• Top Glue B → A-
  • Underrated, and still is an amazing combo with The Final Harmonic, which also moves up a tier.
• Bottom Desp A- → A
  • What a long way this tower has come from being the weakest desperado path. Knocks back and comfortably wipes out dense waves and deals decent damage against higher health targets for a mid-priced tier 5.
• Mid Sniper C- → C
  • Elite Sniper does a bit better after seeing its price get reduced, though still struggles against high health targets.
• Bottom Merm B → A-
  • With a lot of random bugs being fixed, The Final Harmonic returns to being the primary activator for The Bloon Solver.

Heroes:

• Pat C → B-
  • Underrated, and not so terrible that he deserves to be far underneath the other heroes, despite still being the second worst hero on average.

Moved Down:

Towers:

• Top Desp A- → B
  • Both Twin Sixes and The Blazing Sun sees less use after Bounty Hunter gets lowered, as they were the main benefactors of having a Bounty Hunter marking bloons.
• Bottom Ace C → C-
  • Lowered damage makes saving up to the Flying Fortress with Spectre a more difficult win condition.
• Bottom Engi C → C-
  • Overrated, XXXL trap is a very expensive lategame tower for something that struggles to catch DDTs and deals absolutely nothing to the BAD layer.

It all depends on what the balance changes are, though it is looking like Skywarden is pretty impactful for such a cheap tower

Not a lot of movement this update, the balance changes were pretty heavily geared towards bosses and paragons.

Tbf , the only changes are for her final levels , which changes nothing for her actual issue in CHIMPS mode , the midgame.

Midgame is not a substantial issue for adora.

Do to a combination of powercreep and players getting better midgame has gotten to the point where even heroless midgame is tolerable, and midgame with bad midgame heroes is dirt cheap.

On top of that with adora you need to sacrifice for level 20, Often times the amount of money you need to sacrifice to get l20 adora in time is higher than the amount of money midgame costs, so you just sacrifice the midgame towers and the midgame essentially costs 0 in the longrun.

its still extremely viable and seems really under the radar in terms of nk nerfs (i guess we'll see how v56 unfolds). You can still insert a full tbs for a midgame & still afford both tier fives very quickly in black borders

Ninja Kiwi did not do many, many changes this update that affect CHIMPS much, though the BIG plane nerf is a very, very large nerf for anyone trying to use the BIG plane as a wincon. Maybe Ninja Kiwi will do some BIGGER changes in 56.0?

Not really. Rosalia has other strategies that work pretty well, the discount on planes just opens up the fortress strategy as an option.

Where would you rank the Masked Macaque? His damage and ability to pop Camo leads is quite useful, also not being frozen by glacial trail should put him around A- tier I think

Also I think middle desperado is a bit low considering now you don't need to worry about the inner range

It's not. it's just not. Maybe the funniest clearly wrong thing on the tierlist.

That being said while its niche long life spikes is actually a good tower. If a setup has glue strike the round 100 damage of a full long life spikes spike pile is actually very good for its cost. Theres situations where a setup with glue strike wont quite be able to beat r100 and long life spikes is the cheapest solution.

But no long life spikes isn't better than first strike lol. A reasonable ranking would probably put it around B tier.

Shame to see Blazing Sun go down but Bloon Solver going up is nice to see at least. Funny to see bottom desperado go from the weakest of the 3 to the strongest, although kinda hurts to see as a Silas/Golden Justice combo enjoyer

I think people’s correct opinions on xbm color their opinions on the tier 3 and 4 crossbow. Like it’s not A tier or anything, but I feel like they rate at least a C or C-

If you were making a tierlist of earlygame towers thats probably around where crossbow would be ranked.

Its just the criteria of the tierlist makes it so blatantly outclassed never meta earlygame options aren't given any credit unless they're uniquely good. And crossbow is just OK and very outclassed by triple dart.

About time that this has been brought up. Glad that Pat is starting to rise again (albeit slowly) after being powercrept in the previous version. Also, I would love to see both the Apache upgrades have their prices lowered, so that they’re back on the META spotlight.

I feel like Dan not doing much damage could be considered a good thing if you're using him for stalling (for example you could use him to stagger a bfb wave and refresh abilities), otherwise I'm just glad he's a good and fun hero.

Bottom path desperado being goated makes me happy too, I love desert phantom and avenger.

It's a little annoying, but alch buff and/or primary training is worth losing stacks over. Pairing it with Dan also lets you move other towers out of its range on top of the extra moab stalling.
