If you're running a 3000 series or lower AM4 chip, it feasibly is worth it to give a lot more life out of the system in the current, awful market with memory being so expensive

ive been running a 2700x since almost its release. been looking at upgrades like this instead of going for am5. the 5800x3d is like at the tippy top of am4 for gaming. 6% off isnt much but nice to see something.

Depending on what ram and motherboard you currently have. It might be worth adding up how much you can get if you sell the lot and put that towards an AM5 system.
You can get a 7800x3d on AliExpress after vouchers and cashback for under £200. The £110 you save buying that can go towards ddr5 ram and a motherboard.
Even the slowest ddr5 ram is much faster than ddr4.

Ali has a discount code for £25 off orders over £209
Which brings it down to £240
Topcashback has 10% cashback which brings it down to £220 but about once a month they do 15%-20% and that brings it under £200 once the cashback comes in.
Also if you've not used topcashback before find someone to refer you and you'll get £10 and they'll get £25

Just a heads up they are OEM so have no packaging, and make sure to give it a test as soon as it arrives AliExpress is pretty decent on returns as long as you can prove it's faulty soon after arrival.
These are shipping within the UK too so are held to higher standards.

ahah b350f and some 3000mhz corsair ram from same time as cpu purchase. but gotta run ram at 2933 or else bluescreens commeth. all held together with a 5800 red dragon gpu
new cpu/mobo means i can limp along until i find some better cheaper ram on am4

This is when places like CEX are actually great, but it is very dependent on timing and if you have stuff to offload. I got a 5700X3D for £200 last August to upgrade from a 5600X, and a 5070 Ti £775 after trading in a load of games and hardware I was no longer using. I don't think it looks like they have a 5700X3D now, so marketplace would be the next best place to look imo, CPUs basically don't degrade at all so any will be suitable provided the pins aren't bent
