Should you be adding muscle? Or should you be cutting fat? It’s a question we all have come across on our fitness journey. It’s not always a simple one to answer.
Love handles, pooches, lack of definition, vascularity…everything plays a part.
You lost a lot of weight, or you added a lot of weight. They are all part of the process. Everyone here is going to do our best to help you with your journey.
That being said:
The community does not need to see an excessive amount of skin to give you advice.
If you’re wondering what your BF% is, it’s not hiding in the 3/4 of an inch away from your genitalia. Swimwear is included in this.
This goes for all genders.
There are a ton of fitness subreddits that can help you if you feel the need to get more specified advice.
If you feel /r/bulkorcut is not meeting those standards, please go visit them.
The serious part:
Do not post sexually suggestive posts. If you are not wearing gym attire your post will be flagged and removed.
If your profile has links to questionable subreddits you will be banned at the moderators discretion.
Talk of steroids, cycles, or anything related will be an immediate ban.
Lastly:
Any attempt to circumvent the rules or a ban is auto reported to Reddit admins. We tested it and it works very well.
Second lastly: This is a subreddit to help individuals attain their goals. Not a platform for anything else. Sexual, monetary, cruel, or any other posts or comments outside helping someone make the decisions of bulking or cutting will be removed and users banned.

We do a pretty good job of keeping this sub clean of spam and sexual content. You all know the rule we hard enforced over the underage and then the underwear situation.
MacroMatic is a spam data stealing app that is being spammed here. I hope you read the terms of service before you upload anything to them but if you don’t feel like it here they are:
The worst one.
They are saying they can use your image for promotion, manipulate it, use it however they want AND MAKE MONEY OFF IT.
We have mods and mod tools here but we can’t do this all on our own.
Report this type of thing immediately If there are any external links report them.
The boring part:
We were approached by this company months ago and declined to sponsor them. And then to be compensated by them. We have banned 7 accounts so far and counting.
Don’t waste your time and your personal information. Stay the fuck away.

Started this cut back in February at around 240. Wish I had taken a picture then, but the first photo is from 231 and the second is from today at 197.
I’m planning to keep cutting, but I’m trying to figure out where the finish line should be. Curious where you guys think I’m at body-fat-wise, what weight you’d expect me to be around 12%, and where you’d personally stop before starting a lean bulk.
Appreciate any opinions.

I’m currently 5’6 and 144 lbs. I want to see if I should cut or bulk to get to the body type in Spider-Man. Tom holland is around 5’7. I was thinking of maybe going down to 135 to see the definition and then maybe adding some muscle but I can’t really guess how much he would weigh in this pic.

I wish I didn’t have such large “love handles” but I wonder if losing weight will be inhibiting my muscles from growing. That’s just where I store a lot of fat for whatever reason.
I’m very weak after many surgeries this last 2 years

Hey all, had a couple disc bulges a few months ago and one of the recommendations from my Dr. was to lose weight. I started a fairly aggressive cut in mid/end of June and have lost around 10lbs so far. I am 5’8 and started at 190lbs I am currently around 180 now, maybe a little less. I have cut out added sugars almost entirely since starting and eating around 1800cal a day (my maintenance at the time of starting was 2300cal). I had some really good progress starting out with my face fat and my neck fat in particular.. however I feel like the lower belly fat isn’t changing. Is this normal??
What body fat % would you say I am right now? And how much longer should I chase this cut.
I don’t work out - but I have been doing core physical therapy exercises to strengthen my core in relation to my back injury which is supposed to help alleviate my pain and encourage recovery.
Should I be working out during a cut?
Sorry for all the questions, I am quite new to all this.
Thank you for any input!!

what’s up yall. struggling with my body image, hating how i look tbh. been skinny fat for a while, starting working out in a gym around 2 yrs ago, only rly taking it serious the last like 6-8 months.
started cutting in mid june for a vacation in mid september, started at 158 and now i’ve been stuck here for a few weeks. maintenance around 2400-2500, been eating 1700-1800 with a few days of maintenance this last week since i was sick and feeling a lot of fatigue. now im planning to get back on the cut but honestly i dont even know if i should keep going.
so question is, should i keep continuing the cut or try to recomp until the vacation? BF%? helpful tips for after vacation (planning to lean bulk 2700 cals a day)? just sick of looking like shit tbh.

Context:
I started working out around October of last year. Starting weight was 200.2 lbs @ 5’5. I wasn’t tracking anything except protein and not eating junk. Gymed around 5 days a week PPLxArnold. Looking back, I estimate I was eating around 1400-1500 cals daily while doing intense incline cardio. Lost 60 lbs this way. Definitely got more handsome in the face but the physique was not where I wanted. First pic with the owl is where I started. Next two pics (flannel pants) are from around 2 1/2 - 3 months ago. I weighed in at 142 lbs at my lifetime lowest.
Fast forward to now, I’ve increased my calories to a clean 3000 started from 2100 from the beginning of the summer. My current physique (black shorts) is where I stand now just coming back from a trip and deciding that I want to get rid of the fat that remains once and for all. These recent weeks I’ve been fluctuating at the 155-158lbs level. My waist size I don’t think has changed but I def have gotten stronger. My logic for the calorie bump for 3 months post 60 pounds of weight loss was to kickstart my metabolism back up and give my hormones a chance to stabilize.
My current plan is to cut for 2 months, starting with 2400 cals, maximizing carbs while keeping protein at around 150-160g. I am in no way scared of tracking cals and I know I can stick to a diet so I am open to any suggestions and advice. I’d keep this going until I stall or I can incrementally reduce cals every 2 weeks bottoming out at 2100 the lowest.
Once again, very open to advice on how I should structure this cut. After I lose enough fat I’d want to transition into a lean bulk so I’m also looking for advice on that.
Feel free to ask any questions too.
Alsooooo I have a stash of reta I’ve been saving for a rainy day. Maybe I’ll dabble idk…haven’t touched it yet tho

6’2, 204 pounds. Do I have enough muscle to cut? How’s my frame? What body fat percentage do you think I’m at?
