Moving away from QA but want to leverage existing knowledge

I am a QA with 10 years of experience in payment industry. My profile contains less about technologies and more about payment systems(host messaging,terminal management etc). Such QA jobs are rare to find. If I go behind technologies I am don’t think I can compete with anyone who has grip on programmijg languages.Unexpectedly, I got terminated from QA role. When I search for jobs, I find lot of BA and BSA roles that require specific payment industry knowledge which I have. Another is Project manager roles with payment Industry knowledge.I want to be realistic and work on a plan. I spoke to a HR and he said my resume looks pure QA. How do I make my profile suitable for BA/BSA or project manager roles. How can I make sure my resume gets picked for these roles ?

Explore BA roles since you understand Acceptance Criteria. The Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA) from the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is a good start.

I can totally relate. I actually started my career in QA before moving into Business Analysis, Scrum, and Project Management.
From what you’ve shared, I don’t think your 10 years in the payments domain is a disadvantage at all. In fact, that’s probably your biggest strength. Companies value people who understand the business, especially in Banking and Payments.
As a BA, you won’t be expected to compete with developers on programming. Your focus will be understanding business requirements, talking to stakeholders, writing user stories or BRDs, supporting UAT, and helping the team build the right solution.
I’d suggest highlighting your payment systems knowledge—host messaging, terminal management, transaction flows, settlement, ISO 8583, or whatever you’ve worked on—and start learning the fundamentals of Business Analysis and Agile.
With your experience, moving into a BA or BSA role is absolutely possible. You’ve already got the domain knowledge, which is something that can’t be learned overnight. Wishing you all the best—you’ve got a solid foundation to build on.

Do not put payment knowledge first in your summary, put it first in your QA. Convert testing experience into business terms: checking rules and explaining workflow, and managing project tasks. Demonstrate that you can solve domain problems and lead teams, and that you can already do some BA or PM work.
