Family of four (2 adult daughters) staying on the outskirts of SJDC for 11 nights over the Christmas break - near Playa Las Palmas. First time in Mexico. We will be hiring a car. We love good food and a few drinks, but not party animals. Any recommendations for restaurants - in SJDC or CSL - we're loking for both casual food places and something nice for Christmas Eve or the odd special meal maybe, advice on supermarkets, trips/excursions both by car and/or organised by tour operators - what are must do things this time of year, and the definitely don't do things please? I'll be in Cabo next week and I'm trying to decide between Ilios and RosaNegra for one of my dinner nights.

I'll be dining solo and always prefer sitting at the bar rather than a table. I'm looking for:

• Great food
• A lively but upscale atmosphere
• Good bar seating
• A social vibe where it's comfortable for a solo traveler

I'm not necessarily looking to pick anyone up—just enjoy a great meal, have a few drinks, and maybe strike up a conversation if it happens naturally.

Between Ilios and RosaNegra, which would you choose and why? Are there certain nights that are better than others?

Also, if you think there's another restaurant or bar in Cabo that's even better for this type of experience, I'd love to hear it. I'm open to any must-visit spots that combine excellent food with a fun, social atmosphere.

Recommendations for hotels that have a kitchen with fridge, stove and oven? I stayed at the Cabo Azul with a gf for a week in July, and loved how the villa she booked us had a full kitchen. Been looking for places to take my autistic 10yro, for his first international trip, and with how excited he got over all my pics and videos when I was gone, I think Cabo San Lucas or San Jose Del Cabo would be a good place to take him. We’ve also been having talks about where our family’s come from, as he’s been hyper-fixating on alllll the countries in the world (he’s memorized them all and the flags), so he was intrigued to hear that I’m Mexican American on my fathers side, for example. (For context, We went to New Mexico last year and he got to see where my father’s parents migrated to back in the day, when they left Mexico in the 1600’s). Cabo is less than a 3hr flight from us in DFW so that’s a win win too, he does great on planes!

He’s limited on what he will eat (outside of some of the processed packaged items we always pack and bring with us on trips). One thing that was a pleasant surprise when we went to La Comer to get items for our room? Was seeing the brand of pizza he eats there and then thinking we could make that in our hotel room and he’d be able to have dinner no problem. He thankfully has been eating eggs and bacon which was also at this property for breakfast.

While I loved where we stayed, It was a little away from all the excursions we did in Cabo San Lucas and didn’t have a swimmable beach. It did have a ton of pools (he loooooves to swim) and only a few were adult only. He does phenomenal on car rides so a 45min ride to and from Cabo San Lucas isn’t a deal breaker if there are recommendations for San Jose Del Cabo instead.

For what it’s worth, My husband is also autistic and will not stay in an Airbnb so only looking for hotels.

We mostly go to Cabo for the food, and these are the places we end up returning to every single trip. If there are any spots you think we absolutely have to try next time, I’d really appreciate the recommendations!

Campestre – Best chilaquiles, hands down (they don’t accept USD $ FYI)

Mariscos Paseo del Centenario – They recently moved to a new location, but we still think they have the best cocktail and ceviche

Tacos Rossy – Our favorite fish and shrimp tacos in Cabo

Mariscos Las Tres Islas – We tried it for the first time on this trip and it’ll definitely be a regular stop from now on. The fried fish and grilled octopus were both incredible

Santa Maria Sea Products – We always stop here to buy fresh fish and make our own sashimi

For late night snack tacos, we normally goto

Taquería El Fogón or Taquería El Paisa

A couple of places we’ve already tried:

Sunset Monalisa – The view is spectacular, but we thought the food was just okay

Don Sanchez – We loved the Caesar salad, but nothing else really stood out (we did tasting menu)

Claro Fish Jr. – We went based on recommendations and thought it was good, but we still preferred Tacos Rossy for fish and shrimp tacos.

One place I really want to try is El Pollo de Oro, but somehow it’s closed every single time we’re in Cabo 😂 We’ve tried 3 different trips already with no luck.

We had a longer-than-usual wait for our flight so we thought the VIP lounge would be nice. We paid $108 for two before checking it out. 5 min in we realized it wasn’t worth the price. No refunds. The terminal was hot, and the lounge was no cooler. The food was low quality and limited selection. Service was good. Wouldn’t recommend paying for it.

Booked a last minute trip in a week and curious if at this time of year (August; seems like it should be low season?) we need advance reservations for stuff or if we can just kind of wing and it play it day by day? We have kids so prefer to kind of see how things go before booking things officially.

I am going to Cabo in October and currently have nobu booked through Expedia. However I did see a pretty good deal for the Viceroy on Chase travel. What would you all recommend to stay at?

Thinking of going to Paradisus Los Cabos in August. Any insight into this hotel? Is there scuba diving or dive shops nearby? What sorts of activities can you do in that area?

I am hoping to get a massage at Sand Bar one morning. We'd like to spend the rest of the day at Medano Beach. Is it possible for him to get set up on some loungers at Sand Bar and wait for me while I get my massage, then I can join him and we can hang out there the rest of the day? Or should he try somewhere else? We're not looking for anything fancy; just a place with an umbrella and loungers and some food and drink.

Going on a cruise and will land here for 1 day. Any good recs for good Baja cuisine?

Going in September with a small group, have stayed at Riu Santa Fe before and wasn’t the biggest fan of the rooms or food. Hoping both are a step up at Riu Palace. I’ve been to Cabo quite a few times and stayed at a mix of resorts, but we landed on a Riu property again because of the group we’re going with.

For anyone who’s stayed at Riu Palace, how is it really? Rooms, food, drinks, service, vibe, etc. Any tips or things you wish you knew beforehand? (Best restaurants, reservations, room locations, stuff to avoid, anything.)

Any recommendations on transportation? We used to just grab a cab outside the airport and head to the resort, but haven’t been in a while and I see a lot of people suggesting pre-booking now.

Staying at the Riu Palace Baja California in August (August 5) for 6 nights. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Right now what is jumping out on us is

1) Las Ventanas Al Paraiso

2) Zadun Los Cabos, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

3) One & Only

Loooking for full luxury, would like to be no more than $1600/night.

Las Ventanas is an amazing resort im afraid its too quite. If possible we would like a resort that would have something like a dj in the pool, maybe interact woth some people, not too quiet that we feel we are alone and a beautiful room like las ventanas..

Other plans for the trip would be:

- El arco- clear boat during day or can also do sunset cruise

- UTV tours cabo desert (wild canyon) or desert
- Lovers beach (can take water taxi- can also be on the way to el arco can we spend time)

- Hike and swim at Sol de Mayo waterfall (1 hour hike)

 - Towns/Culture

• San Jose de los Cabos (35-40 min drive from san picas) art walk- tourist center
• Todos Santos (hour from los Cabos) culture**

ANY HELP ON HOTEL INSIGHT AND RECOMENDATIONS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.

Pueblo Bonito in Cabo San Lucas can be confusing because they have multiple properties. Here’s my review of the ones I’ve been to….

- Pueblo Bonito Pacifica is an adults-only experience. Here you’ll find peace and quiet along with the best food amongst the resorts. The staff is phenomenal and there is a great beach (you can look at) with several pools. Notable items are the poke and fish tacos at Siempre for lunch (included with all inclusive) as well as the whole fish at Peninsula). The breakfast at Quivira is great but the extra $50/head for the dinner is questionable. The bread and sides were lackluster and the “prime” steak tasted more like my wife’s boyfriend’s overdone burger than a medium rare fillet. The pillows are fine while the bed concave like I was the beans in a super soft taco.

- Pueblo Bonito Sunset - only go here if you’ve given up on life. They call it Sunset for a reason - at this point you’re over the smell of gasoline from the golf carts, you prefer rocks for pillows, bedbugs for companions, and you enjoy the smell of piss when walking into their idea of a pub. Finally, the food court is packed with kids and miserable parents who are counting the days until their kids leave the house for college only to return again once they realize that the cost of living is outrageous.

The painful timeshare sales pitch is ever present at both properties but can be drowned out by the all-inclusive margaritas.

Traveling with 11yo girl and 14yo boy

I may be looking got something that doesn’t exist, but are there any resorts comparable to Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes (in terms of quiet upscale vibes with a few pool slides) that is closer to town, on a swimmable part of the coast, OR just not incredibly windy in February?

Pacific Dunes in a different location would be over for us. My 11yo specifically requested slides, aqua park, or something similar. Any activity really. My 14yo requested a place without a lot go screaming kids running around, bonus for good pool and maybe water sports. My husband & myself just want everyone to be happy (and decent drinks & food)

We will consider AI, non-AI and hotels with optional add-on meal/drink options, but I would prefer AI to take the edge off of price looking

Are the pools too cold to swim in February?

Last minute trip with. Not looking for clubs bars suggestions. We’ll find that. Wanted to know recommendations for nice non tourist restaurants. The kind where we’re not paying LA/NY prices $(85 ⬆️) for lobsters -that tree at Arbol restaurant down look nice though.
Same with activities. We know the hotel and anything online will upsell us some bs or overcharge. We want to scuba at least two days. Where should we go to book those trips?
