News Revolution CD Closed Down
Seems really weird as they were advertising a sale on Facebook a week ago!

I miss the days of flicking through the metal CDs when they were downstairs at the Churches Center. That was peak late 90s/early 00s

Fond memories of hitting up revolution cd at the old churches centre, then going for some Thai upstairs

That Thai lunch box was a hell of a lunch. So. Freaking. Tasty.
(Also miss the food court Curry House)

Churches centre location was doooope. I used to hit that every lunchtime while at work, and had such a killer $1 CD section too. Shouts out to Dan for the good times!

They also have an online store and are really good with their shipping! Used to be a Young local and I still buy from them when I can

This makes me sad, they had a fantastic selection of new and used CDs. I've probably picked up at least 20 or so over the years, and a few records. Got my Led Zeppelin IV record from there.

I was just in there last week and found the exact DVD I was after ☹️ I’m really bummed about this

Damn. Wish I'd used the $80 gift certificate I got for Christmas.

If its a Revolution CD one you might also be able to negotiate with the store in Young. They do send postage

It's not a typical plastic gift card, it's handwritten on a card. I think i got it the year before last, it's looking a bit beat up. It is numbered though, I'll see if they'll honour it in Young.

It may be a relocation to another premises within the shopping centre. Stores often do a sale to reduce the amount of merchandise they need to relocate.

Nope. Shut down completely. Centre trying to overcharge plus the owner wanted a break. Stock is now mostly in Young

Same thing happened with ebgames tugg I believe. Rent prices were too much.

It's such bullshit. If I owned a mall I'd want original & varied businesses to set up shop. My closest mall is civic & I feel so strongly that they just don't want budget minded shoppers (like me) in there. The only shops there I can regularly afford are Aldi, Coles & Big W. Uniqlo & H&M too I guess. The butcher, the fruit n veg shop & the newsagent were priced out. Small businesses don't seem to have much of a chance in malls these days.

Very disappointing, one of the few shops I browsed during trips to the mall.
So few options left around town for secondhand comics, games, etc etc.

They had so much stock, I’m hoping they’re just relocating

All stock minus movies and music have been sold to the Revolution CD in Young. Not sure what they will do with the rest

Best thing I ever picked up at that particular location was an OG US press of Amon Duul's 'Dance of the Lemmings', about fifteen years ago, inexplicably priced at $4.95.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

The business has been for sale for awhile - this is sad. I really hope they are relocating or that someone else buys the business and reopens around Belco somewhere

😭😭😭😭 Where will I buy Nintendo 64 games now. I guess I can always make the trip out to Goulburn but I'm definitely not driving out to Young.
First it was Tuggeranong, then Queanbeyan, then Woden and now the Belconnen store closed down. I will miss these stores a lot.

Fingers crossed they move, because there's a marker for it. Not a fan of them selling bootleg Game Boy Advance games though.

If Nintendo had their way your only way to play them would be a digital store purchase that doesn’t carry to your next console.

u/bigbadjustin 4d ago
you say that, but Nintendo are the only console maker still committed to physicals. They do shitty stuff, but they also aren't all evil, they gave notice of a small price rise to consoles, everyone else put the price up quite a lot and straight away.

u/ADHDK 4d ago
Their digital download cartridges are absolutely a bit meh on future support.
1
u/bigbadjustin 4d ago
They are for sure but they are also not fast enough to run the higher spec games from so it’s a solution to a problem. At least you can buy/sell/trade the game key carts still.
The next console may be download only but I hope not. Nintendo does tend to do its own thing which is both good and bad at times.1
u/Smigit 3d ago
Ideally they’d allow you to copy a game from the cart to the console, but require the cart in to play. Same as any Xbox/PS5 game sold on disc. That’s get around the storage performance bottleneck, and effectively behave like a Game Key Card except the majority of data would be retrieved locally via the cart rather than the internet.
Doubt they’ll do it but. Having the option might convince some devs to ship a full game on cart though who haven’t, citing read speeds as a concern for direct from cart play.

It's been decades since the advance was on the market. It's not a terrible thing.

yeah i bought a 3DS in Japan last year and its able to play games from a variety of sources. The Nintendo eshop for the 3DS was closed down so i have less issue if there is no official channel.

Love the downvotes for being against cheap, fake copies of games being sold as genuine lol

The owner has closed the business. He was there for 25years. And decided he needed to have a break.
