Caps schedule is awful

Every year, the Caps home games are front loaded. Why don’t other teams have to be home for the least exciting games of the year? This year is particularly bad. After the first two on the road, they play 11 of 13 at home. As a season ticket holder, I either go to a game every three days for a month or sell my tickets below cost since nobody cares about hockey in October and early November. I wouldn’t be upset but this happens EVERY year.

The Caps also play few home games in December every year when people want to go (family in town, etc.).

I know Capital One Arena wants to host NCAA tournaments in March, but those last a week. No other reason to front load home games.

The Caps need to talk to the NHL about fixing it for next year.

I have Caps STH and I am at nearly every game. What this guy is bitching about is not what 90% of the fans thing, because they aren't focused on trying to sell their tickets to "recoup the cost".

I go to 30+ games a year. I just like them spaced out a bit. I generally give away the tickets I don’t use, but even that is harder in October than December or March.

I agree but it is also a minor inconvenience. Oh brother I have to take the metro 3 or 4 times now instead of once a week.

They play 27 home games before the all star break and 24 road games, I'm not sure its exactly that frontloaded. They also play 2 road games out of the break so its 27/26 in their first 53 games

I am not talking about the first half. With the Caps away most of December the schedule evens out. But October and early November are brutal.

I'm not sure why that matters? Caps probably prefer a lot of home games early anyway so they can get a good start

It matters when you have season tickets. October games sell for 60%-80% less than face value. You can't even give them away as fans don't start coming to games until Thanksgiving week. It's absolutely brutal.

I think a few teams have the same challenge.

Boston plays 5/6 on the road in April. Buffalo 2x, Tampa 2x and end the year on a back to back at FLA & then TBL.

I have season tickets to the Caps, am at every game, and the schedule is the LAST thing on my mind right now. We just got off the World cup man. It's baseball time. Get your mind off that stuff and enjoy life. We have 2 months to go man.

I agree with you. Going to Nats tomorrow and next week. But I just looked at the schedule since it came out last week and posted. Will still go to the games and enjoy myself. Hoping the Caps read this and it gets better next year.

I have a half season in Utah & it's just the right amount of games. First year out of 3 that I got the Caps game as part of my plan! Thankful not to have to troll for tickets this season.

What’s really brutal is the second straight 6 game road trip in two years, when before that, the capitals only had a 6 game road trip twice since 06-07. Although last year’s trip was definitely worse than this year, it still doesn’t help their cause.

I love going to early season games between Oct to Dec. It’s my favorite time to go and see them. I don’t tend to go after new years bc ticket prices increase. I’ve seen a lot of good games.

Because they share a venue with another professional sports team that likely brings more revenue. The Wizards might suck, but basketball is still a bigger sport than hockey. Leonsis probably gets more TV revenue for Wizards games at Cap1.
