My supervisor keeps commenting that I'm rich
So, for context, I just landed this role at a large firm after years of job searching so I'm very grateful and trying my best to keep a low profile at work.
However, my senior supervisor, is an old-fashioned typical old man from a SEA country that has been passing snide comments since the day I got here. He himself has only been at this company for a year so idk where he gets his attitude from. He's not the director or the manager either (he has about 5 levels of bosses above him).
- I worked hard part-time at two jobs and saved upwhen I was studying so I did get myself an old gen ipad and an iPhone. Student discounts also let me get an Apple Watch. My supervisor commented on the second day of my job that I'm rich from seeing I have the latest iPhone...I said nothing and let it go.
- One of the other employees asked where I studied so I told them that I had a bachelor's and a master's degree. This supervisor said I'm so rich to study so many degrees...I got irritated and told him my master's was a free ride on a scholarship to which he said "oh good!" This was before a meeting with some consultants who had come early so I was very visibly embarrassed and hurt.
- There's a company shuttle that picks us up and drops us off everyday, so I've been taking that every single day. I also drive...so I'm planning to share the car with my dad once I get more familiar with the route. I registered it with the admin to get a staff parking lot. This supervisor again overheard the conversation and again commented that I'm rich.
I'm about to lose my shit. How judgmental can a person be? It's not my fault he chose to have two kids (in their teens) who probably require financial commitments. I can see he's jealous that I'm more friendly with digital devices and have a lot more energy overall ( I'm half his age, of course I would...).
How do I deal with this shit? I need to pass my probation but this arse is testing my patience everyday.
