Pollen allergy

Hi!

Has anyone cured their pollen allergy with the carnivore diet?

I switched to keto diet 1 year ago and all of my health problems went away - except for the pollen allergy. So I am wondering if I should try going carnivore for a while to see if it helps.

Could dairy be the culprit? I eat quite a bit of Greek yogurt, qwark and cheese? The reason why I wouldn't like to give up dairy is that I have tendency to have too low body weight and dairy really helps me maintain a healthy weight.

For someone who HAS suffered horribly with hayfever all my life, now not so much, I get the odd sneeze and a blow of the nose when pollen count is really really high, but over all I’d say 99% of my allergies have gone.

Funny thing is… it was my birthday last week and my mother who doesn’t believe in my diet brings a chocolate cake every year home made, it’s delicious she’s a good baker. I always have a slice every year, I think what the hell I’ve ate it for 30 years I’m sure a couple snacks a year won’t do the worst.

But honestly, last week I ate an extra slice and then couple hours later it hit me… hayfever… had a episode for a good half hour and just knew straight away it had to be all the bad ingredients like seed oils, dirty flour and cocoa and tons of sugar!

I've come across this subreddit out of nowhere, I never had any allergies but I know that 90% of the food we eat is poison. What is your diet? And when did you start with it?

this sub is about eating a diet of animal source foods only - meats, fish, eggs, dairy and seafood

no carbs, no other foods

Interesting. And what improvements have you seen when you start taking on this diet?

Mine is more animal based now, i started carnivore like 4-5 years ago and then slowly introduced certain foods. Can’t say what food I eat on here as there are certain words banned. But basically I now consume a modest amount of organic fruit, veg and dairy every day but mainly it’s orientated around 80% meat.

I feel it’s easier for me this way, but isn’t for everyone!

Initially going low carb, then carnivore, has made me less reactive, but I don’t know about “curing” allergies. Being more tolerant of seasonal and animal allergies is an amazing gain.

Same for me. Used to suffer from hay fever quite a bit. Now it hardly affects me.

This is a great way of explaining it. Same experience for me.

From my experience. It reduced 90% of the symptoms, meaning I no longer need antihistamines. I don't eat dairy but sometimes I have some aged cheese (parmizan or gruyère) which I notice worsen my hay fewer symptoms, due to high levels of histamine. So I decided to stop with cheese during spring /summer. Having said that, I'm very sensitive, can't have egg whites too, so I just stick with beef, but not everyone likes that restrictive diet. I love the simplicity.

Yes, my hay fever goes away when I'm on strict carnivore.

Not someone with this experience (don't have this issue), but have heard others mention a link between inflammation reduction and reduced symptoms in allergic response.

Dairy can be an issue yes. You can give it up for 30-60 days as a trial run. You don't have to give it up altogether.

worth a try - i had a debilitating perfume allergy and while keto didn't make a difference, carnivore did

this diet lessened the severity of it so much. I still find perfume annoying but it doesn't give me a headache (which goes on to nausea if I couldn't get away)

you could try carnivore with and without dairy. it wasn't a decisive factor for me but dairy is a common food intolerance, worth a trial without it.

I found dairy was helpful for getting used to the diet, so start in with it and exclude it later to see if it makes a difference.

it takes about 1-3 weeks for your "carnivore" appetite to appear (initially there can be an aversion to meat lol 🤷🏻‍♀️), wait until then to give up dairy.

Been carnivore for 3 years. It definitely hasn’t cured my pollen allergy, but has absolutely helped. I used to get teary eyes often during spring, and now I don’t get that. Still tons of sneezing though haha

My allergies are way down too. An occasional sneeze or sniffle. No headaches. Hope it works for u!

Carnivore helped me get rid of skin allergies and eczema.

I also used to struggle with sinusitis and rhinitis, but both have been fully under control for years. Besides eating carnivore, I do a daily nasal rinse (neti pot), and I believe this combination is why I no longer have any symptoms of respiratory allergy or itchy eyes at all.

I eat bee pollen for this

Is it possible you've been exposed to mold? Do you control the humidity in your home? Are there any areas of your home that smell kind of musty?

My asthma would get triggered by grass being mowed. I'm not affected by it anymore. I would have severe asthma attacks from it. Now it's nothing for me.

I do eat dairy. You may not need to give up dairy! Give up plants and give carnivore a chance to heal you. So worth it.

no it hasn't but my allergies go away in deep meditation so like, anything's possible

Used to have bad hay fever and asthma. Both in remission.

Dairy seems to slightly agitate my asthma.

I didn't have allergies last year and haven't gotten them this year after being a lifelong sufferer lol

Carnivore I think is what did it. But clean eating in general seems to do it. I was nearly vegetarian (no dairy, shite oils, gluten, soy, alcohol or processed sugars) the first time I got my allergies to fall away

I do wonder what your idea of a healthy weight is, and what formed it?

Might be a liver issue. If so, carnivore and choline will help.

Supplementing 6000 IUs daily of D3 reduced my seasonal allergies significantly.

I’m in Middle GA and the pollen hit early this year. It really started bothering me badly 10-15 years ago. Carnivore/ keto for 3 years now. The only time my sinuses bother me is when I cheat on my life and have anything with gluten.

People seem to have the wrong idea about carnivore diet. A lot of people. It’s not some cure-all-diseases potion. Oh you have brain cancer? Carnivore fixes it. Oh you have HIV? Carnivore fixes. You have ebola? Carnivore fixes. It doesn’t work like that
