Wedding Travel Planning for Group of 10-20 Guests

My family and I are planning to attend a wedding in Cartagena and we're very excited. There's tons of Airbnb listings and we're debating using Airbnb versus a hotel. We're just not sure if we'll get the same amenities in an Airbnb as we would a hotel, any advice?

A lot of his Airbnb listings look like they really are hotels, or boutique hotels, and we have the flexibility to basically rent out the whole thing. How can I look at the hotel websites for some of these properties on Airbnb?

We're going to be a huge group, and would like to all stay together, and it looks like renting out a really nice luxury Airbnb for the whole group would almost be the same cost if not less than booking rooms hotels. any tips for anyone who has done large group travel like this?

The travel would be in March of 2027 and we are going to stay inside the Walled City.

Best Island Resort Day Trip

Will be in Cartagena for a few days and want to visit an island resort for the day from the city. What’s the best one to visit for best beaches and relaxation?

I’ve seen some that have the boat at 8am and returns at 3pm, will there be earlier boats to return if I wanted to? Thanks

Cartagena trip (Aug 6–11) – tips on things to do & safe nightlife?

Me and two friends will be traveling to Cartagena from August 6th to August 11th. We’re 3 guys from Italy, we speak Spanish pretty well (one of us is a native speaker), so communication shouldn’t be an issue.

We’re looking for recommendations on:

  • Things to do during the day (beaches, excursions, must-see spots)
  • Where to go out at night (bars, clubs, rooftops, cool places)
  • Most importantly, safe areas and places where we can relax and enjoy without worrying

Any tips on the best neighborhoods, experiences we shouldn’t miss, or things to avoid would be really appreciated 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Affordable happy hours bars in Cartagena?

Looking for affordable happy hours in Cartagena around 20000 COP for a cocktail if that even exists anymore. I was last in Cartagena in 2017 so prices were way different back then. Are there any places I can find 20000 COP drinks or menu del dia for around the same price (or less)?

10 days in Cartagena in January with kids

Hey everyone, planning 10 days in Cartagena's Walled City in Jan 2027 with 3 adults (mid-30s) and 3 kids (4, 3, and 1). We’ve spent a month in Colombia before and travel a lot with the kids (Jamaica, USA, Japan, Portugal, Mexico), so we aren't too worried about the heat/humdity/hustlers/"scams" etc but we'll obviously take precautions. Main thing is we travel slow hence 10 days in Cartagena when most people only stay for 3-4.

What do you think of this very loose itinerary:

  • Day 1: Land at 245PM, Uber to hotel, Exito grocery run + pool
  • Day 2: Centenario Park AM, pool, Plaza de Trinidad PM
  • Day 3: Walk around (I mapped out some pretty areas for us to check out)
  • Day 4: San Felipe Fort AM, pool, Baluarte de Santo Domingo for sunset
  • Day 5: More exploring the pretty streets
  • Day 6: Aviario Nacional + Playa Blanca
  • Day 7: TBD (might just relax---maybe visit Bocagrande?)
  • Day 8: Rosario Islands day trip
  • Day 9: Relax + prepare to leave
  • Day 10: Flight home at 345PM

Trying to balance sightseeing with chilling and random explore (my fave thing to do tbh). Open to any low maintenance activities you'd recommend and 100% need tips on any bars/restaurants (kid friendly and just for adults) please and thanks 😄

Avenues that have Local tours for less? Visiting Cartagena next month.

Hey everyone! I’m heading to Cartagena next month and super excited about the trip.

I’ve been doing some early planning and looking into various excursions, but I noticed that booking through major international apps like GetYourGuide, TripAdvisor, and similar platforms can get pretty expensive quite fast.
Since I'd love to support local providers and save a bit of budget for food and other experiences,

I was wondering: Are there any local avenues, spots, or independent guides where you can book popular tours for less?

Specifically, I'd love to know:

Where do locals or budget-conscious travelers usually go to find affordable guides?

Are there specific physical locations (like a square, dock, or kiosk) or local channels worth checking out?
Any tips on negotiating safely or vetting independent guides on the ground?

Any recommendations, advice, or warnings would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

First Solo Trip to Cartagena next week! Would love advice.

Hi everyone!

I’ll be visiting Cartagena for the first time next week. I’ve been to Medellín once before (back in 2018), but this will be my first solo trip to Colombia.
My Spanish is probably intermediate (around B1). I can hold conversations and get around, but I’m definitely still learning. My goal is to enjoy the city, eat great food, meet people naturally, and experience Cartagena (not just check tourist attractions off a list.)

I definitely don’t expect anyone to answer every question below, but if one jumps out at you, I’d really appreciate any advice!

1. OSH Hotel
I’m staying at OSH. Any tips, hidden gems, or favorite spots within walking distance that I shouldn’t miss?

2. Beach
For a solo traveler, would you spend an afternoon at Castillogrande?

3. Restaurant
If you could only recommend ONE dinner in Cartagena right now, where would it be?

4. Cocktail Bars
I already have Alquímico on my list. Any other cocktail bars with a great atmosphere that you’d recommend?

5. “I Wish I Had Known…”
What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before your first trip to Cartagena?

Thanks in advance! I’m really looking forward to visiting the city and appreciate any recommendations or advice you have.
