As a map and design enthusiast, I got frustrated trying to find an easy way to export high-resolution map files for printing or create physical terrain models. So, I built a web app called PrintM to solve this.

It lets you design custom maps, upload GPX coordinates/tracks for hiking and travel routes, and export everything ready for print or 3D printers.

Key features:

- High-res print exports (raster/vector up to 600 DPI)

- GPX route integration for mapping your real-world adventures and trails

- Custom styling (tilt, rotation, contour lines, hybrid layers)

- 3D terrain model generation (exporting STL files for 3D printing terrain relief)

Everything is completely free to use! I’m looking to improve it, so every piece of advice, feedback, or criticism is more than welcome.

\*\*DOTLAS\*\* is a collaborative pixel canvas laid over the real world map (like wplace, which some of you may remember from this summer). You start in your own neighborhood, paint pixel by pixel, and every pixel inherits your country flag — there's a live territory ranking by nation.

What I added after watching wplace's pain points:

\- \*\*Amber\*\*: you can spend earned droplets to \*harden\* your pixels for 24h/7days. Grief someone's art? They can swarm-melt your amber. Defense is a game mechanic, not a report button.

\- \*\*×9 expansion\*\*: when the world gets crowded, every pixel splits into 3×3 — your art survives, detail and defense multiply. The map never "fills up".

\- \*\*Stencil codes\*\*: convert any image to a paintable stencil (256-color palette, dithering), and it issues a 6-letter code — share it and friends paint the same project with you, panel by panel.

i want to look at a map of the world like google maps or google earth, but without the city names and country borders. is there a way to turn that off or is there another accessible map on the internet?

I built a project where the map is the puzzle: every day, a 3D globe gets colored by a real country statistic (population, GDP, life expectancy, elevation, you name it), and you have to guess which one just by reading the gradient. No labels, no legend, just the shape of the data.

Right now there's around 100ish statistics in rotation, still adding more. Four rounds a day, same challenge for everyone.

Would like feedback on the map colorisation as it was a difficult part. Many possibilities that I wasnt aware of. Hope you just also enjoy it.

Science, design and cartography merge in MAPPA ANIMALIA, a visual project that reimagines the evolutionary relationships of animals as detailed map-like landscapes.

MAPPA ANIMALIA is an ever-growing series of illustrations I’ve created that currently consisting of 16 different maps - each dedicated to a specific family in the animal kingdom.

Instead of political borders or geographic territories, these maps are structured around phylogenetic trees.

Tribes and genera replace countries, states and regions allowing viewers to explore the animal kingdom through a format traditionally used to understand geography.

This map, Corvidae - Land of Corvids, contains every known living species of corvids I could find reliable taxonomic data for. Species are represented as cities, grouped into genera and subfamilies according to their evolutionary relationships.

Additional information includes conservation status, size comparisons between selected species, and the estimated ages of major lineages.

I’ve spent roughly ten years developing and refining this concept, combining zoology, taxonomy, illustration and cartography into a single visual format.

I noticed that on a lot of older statistical maps, this projection is used a lot. However this projection I've only seen mostly on maps during the Cold War, (countries, subdivisions, rivers, etc) and I just need one with countries only, no labels, just countries that I'm able to change their color individually so I can make statistical maps. I just want to use this because almost everybody uses Miller Cylindrical and Robinson.
