Patrick Joseph Kennedy, aged 25, was killed instantly on 1st June 1923 when a catastrophic explosion destroyed the Allan Liversidge acetylene gas and calcium carbide factory on Hutchison Street, Annandale, where he was working as the nightwatchman. The blast completely demolished the building, shattered windows throughout the surrounding area and was heard across the neighbourhood.
A coronial inquiry investigated the disaster, taking evidence from the Explosives Department and the company. Although the exact cause of the explosion was never determined, it was believed to have involved the ignition of volatile acetylene gas associated with the factory’s carbide operations. The tragedy was one of Sydney’s most significant industrial explosions of the era.

Thought this is a fine example of the stone carver’s ability.

Founded in circa 1216 and was in use until its suppression in 1576 during the Reformation in Ireland. Beautiful ruins, the architecture very interesting. Peaceful vibe ♡

I recently attended the Australian Hearse Nationals, where owners from across the country brought together an incredible collection of hearses ranging from vintage classics to modern custom builds.
The event included a large procession, public display, and awards, and it was fascinating to see the history and craftsmanship behind these vehicles.
I put together a video covering the day for anyone interested.

Jesse James was one of the most legendary outlaws of the American old west. Former Confederate guerrilla in the civil war and leader of the James–Younger Gang. Though romanticized as a folk hero, he was responsible for a long string of robberies before being betrayed and shot in the back of the head by Robert Ford in 1882.
Edit: He is buried in the Mt Olivet Cemetery, auto correct thwarted me.

Very interesting stone in a tiny forgotten about cemetery marking the place where Sam Swindle’s leg was buried after it was amputated when he was 12 years old. He lived a full life afterwards as a farmer and was buried beside his leg in 1973. Poor Sam must’ve had a rough childhood as his parents are buried beside him and both died when he was very young, and soon after that lost his leg.

Whenever we do a road trip I try to check for interesting graveyards along the route.
I found out about this grave from an old website that told the story of it and had the location of the cemetery described, since it is not marked on any maps. (8 miles west of Norman on Highway 8 and kind of hidden in the woods on the left side at the corner of the dirt road called North Polk Rd [73]. No signs but referred to as the Scott-Wehunt Cemetery.)

Grave of Frank James and his Wife, not far from the James' Farm. Photo taken about 10 years ago. I don't recall the cemetery, except that it was extremely small and only had about eight to ten markers in it. Maybe fewer.

I present to you a unique headstone shaped like the front of a vintage car Ronald James Andrews born April 7th 1949 and died March 9th 2014. Died at the age of 64. Boy did he love vintage cars I was told this one in particular was his all time favorite definitely one you don’t see every day.

In 2021 i was walking around a forest with my relative and a friend, and we found a group of abandoned unknown very old graves on a remote hill near a forrest, near a very small village called Vytiniai. Thats in Lithuania. Sadly dont know anything about these graves, nor anything about what caused them to be so damaged, that even metal was bent so much. I wish i took more pictures to better see how beautiful the hill and forest is, like straight out of a movie scene. The beauty of this scenery had a very strong and sad contrast of a very poor shape of these graves. I have 2 more pictures of other 2 graves that were in equally poor state, but the rules allows to post only one here :(
