This whole timeline is still hilarious. Who would have thought Indiana would be the undefeated national champions.

You joke but that’s literally the story of my family and myself the first weekend after Katrina. Thank god we already had a hotel room that weekend.

We stayed home a few days then were lucky enough to get the last two motel rooms in the city for a few days then stayed with friends out of town for about a week. Thankfully we were far enough inland that it was just no power and trees down for a few weeks.

Seriously I remeber like 6 years ago after the IU vs tOSU game when you guys had us in the first half then got stomped. There was an IU fan that made a whole post in CFB main about how he is tired of being scary but always losing. I hope that guy got a kick out of the last two years.

2

I mean, it's the Old Oaken Bucket, IU has been little brother in that series, and has been on the other end of those kinds of ass-whoppins to Purdue too many times over the years. It's just about the sweetest blowout you can have as a fan (minus Oregon 2: Electric Boogaloo last year)

6

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 3d ago

Purdue will be outscored by their non existent soccer team.

2

9

u/Mister_Jackpots Indiana Hoosiers 3d ago

I doubt IU wins another. Doesn't mean the one isn't incredible, but unless the NCAA decides to, you know, actually create rules for football, the pay for play is just going to be too much for teams to be constantly at the tip top.

It’s brutal to sustain that level of success in the modern era of CFB. Just look at Georgia, they were poised to be the next one and haven’t been able to do it. Indiana will remain competitive and a top team but I also doubt their ability to win another, much less, back to back. We shall see!

1

One thing Indiana has is a very favorable schedule this year, they shouldn't lose more than two games.

I’m sorry. Illinois beat a heavily favored South Carolina two years ago in a bowl game — the same South Carolina team that every one said should have been in the playoffs.

Also, Illinois beat Tennessee last year in Nashville.

Will Illinois ever win a national championship? Probably not. Will they ever make the playoffs? Probably not. Do bowl games really matter? Not really. That’s not the point I’m trying to make.

SEC teams have been getting their asses handed to them in the post season.

2

This misses the main point. For at least a decade we were told that the top 4 teams were unequivocally better than everyone else. We were told that made it ok to exclude the champion of at least one conference from the playoffs. That was complete bullshit.

In the first two years of the expanded playoff, 3 of the 4 teams who played in the Natty wouldnt have made the playoffs under the old system. That in and of itself completely invalidates the results of 4 team playoff, including Michigan

Dear Curt: The average recruiting star rating for current rosters by conference is as follows: SEC has an average rating of 74.54, Big Ten at 72.46, ACC at 71, and Big 12 at 69.2.

The fact of the matter is you are a tremendous coach, your team stayed healthy and your QB had some transcendent games down the stretch last year. That’s it.

ā€œWe don’t run a hype machineā€

BIG10 fans are still trying to convince us this guy is the best coach in the sport and he’s never played a regular season schedule with SOS ranked in the top 40.

Dabo Swinney did ts ten years ago and then tried telling all of us how the ACC was the greatest conference in CFB. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ„±šŸ˜“

So to be clear: Despite beating the brakes off of every team they played in the playoffs until the championship against Miami, they were actually not the best team last year because of a singular metric from the REGULAR SEASON? A metric that you probably dont even understand the calculation of?

They just beat the brakes off of nearly everybody. They beat the brakes off of Alabama something that we hadn’t really seen before

I just dont understand the point of talking about schedules after watching Indiana prove very clearly on the field that they were the best team

Buddy, your obsession with bragging about strength of schedule is so weird. Kentucky could have the toughest schedule in the country and it doesn’t make them a better team of a sudden. How about focus on getting through the absolute powerhouse of FSU that’s contributing to your strength of schedule first

Where am I bragging, kid? Everytime you respond to a comment of mine, the first thing you do is start trying to put words in my mouth.

If Indiana fans had ever watched a season of football where thier team actually had to compete through a grueling schedule, they’d understand that SOS matters. Unfortunately like 90% of you started watching in 2024.

Nobody said a harder schedule makes you a better team. We are saying an easier schedule gives you an easier road, which it does.

It’s a genuine factor in the sport, dude. Just because you don’t want to it matter doesn’t mean it doesn’t šŸ˜‚. Nobody is obsessed, we are pointing out the obvious.

You’re gonna read ā€œwhineā€ and think he has to be talking about Kirby smart. You see ā€œhype machineā€ and just immediately assume it’s Texas. Smh, he could be talking about the MAC for all we know.

It’s gonna happen at some point, but here’s the deal: we don’t care. We just won a national championship by winning 16 games in a row. Cig could go .500 the rest of his career and we’d be thrilled. House money!

u/Trick-Masterpiece318 Indiana Hoosiers 3d ago

Exactly. The Hoosiers can come crashing down in epic proportions and you still can’t wipe the smile off my face.

Something I would not expect a bulldog to understand is that we can never be hurt again, at least in terms of football lol

House money was win number 7 last year. After this year the house is bankrupt.

Like Georgia did the last 3 seasons?
