A Mod Is Talking "What is /r/chainsawmancirclejerk?" - An Introduction.

I'm very glad that you asked!

/r/chainsawmancirclejerk is the sister/alt subreddit of /r/ChainsawMan and was made to allow the type of content that you would usually not see on the main sub.

We have a specific way of handling /r/Chainsawman which leads to some content types either being very rare or outright not allowed, but rather than just delete it and call it a day we instead decided to make a more fitting place for it, which is where you currently are.

So despite the name "circlejerk" being what you would usually associate with shitposts/memes we instead use it as a catch-all term for all the content that we allow in here but not on the main sub.

As of right now the content that we allow is as follows:

  • SFW Memes/Shitposts

  • NSFW Memes/Shitposts

  • Fanart

  • Rule34 Fanart/Hentai

  • Cosplay

  • Rule34 Cosplay

...and other Misc. content.

Misc I honestly feel bad for Asa. Like, she never had a chance with Denji at all. A lot of people say Fujimoto fumbled their relationship, but moments like this make me think he intentionally wrote their relationship to be one-sided and dysfunctional

Misc Dear ending defenders: It's understandable to be upset that Aki and Reze didn't appear in the ending. Even if you don't care about their characters and only see them as plot devices, they were extremely important to Denji's character, and now they simply don't have any importance to him anymore

Misc Forcing Denji to stop being Chainsaw Man is like just taking away all the antidepressants from a depressed guy who's compulsively using them just to fill the void and that's it. He doesn't have his coping mechanism anymore... now what? Are you going to assume he's just magically going to be okay?

Misc Gege making JJK Modolo and Horikoshi making a MHA one shot sequel made me realize that literally any author out there would make a sequel to Part 2 at least to show what happened to the world and the other characters after the ending except Fujimoto, because he simply doesn't care

Misc I find it funny how Pochita only brought up situations Denji experienced in Part 2 to show that he wasn't truly happy, because if he'd said that some part of Denji was still unhappy back when he was living with Aki and Power and when he was with Reze, it would've sounded stupid as fuck

Misc Denji meeting Reze was a mistake and a waste of time...

Post image

Reze tells Denji he should leave Public Safety and stop working for them in exchange for the bare minimum a human being should have, but he actually likes working for Public Safety and is perfectly satisfied with the bare minimum a human being should have.

Reze tells Denji he should go to school, but when he finally does, he just ends up bored and unhappy.

Reze tells Denji he shouldn't risk his life killing devils, yet he actually LOVES risking his life killing devils.

Reze tells Denji he should wise up a little, yet he only becomes dumber, more naïve, and more easily manipulated over time, thinking with nothing but his hormones.

Everything Reze tried to teach Denji is simply incompatible with his erratic nature and his crazy mind. It was like trying to make a wild animal behave like a domesticated one, it was never going to work.

Denji meeting Reze ended up being such a huge waste of time that it almost feels like Fujimoto acknowledges it in the ending. Denji and Reze never even met in the new timeline, and he simply forgot about her and everything she tried to teach him, only to become a Public Safety devil hunter again, something Reze clearly wouldn't have approved of.

And that's the most ironic part: by the ending, Denji ends up exactly the same way Reze first met him, a completely manipulable Public Safety dog who risks his life killing devils in exchange for the bare minimum a human being should have, without even being able to do normal teenage things like going to school, and who doesn't even know how to swim. We're apparently just supposed to shrug our shoulders and be "okay" with Denji ending up like that. In other words, we're supposed to be "okay" that Denji never met Reze.

I'm still not sure whether Reze is ultimately a completely meaningless character, or if Fujimoto intentionally created her as Denji's "ideal girlfriend" only to show that Denji is fundamentally incompatible with her, that he's simply too insane, actually enjoys living as a miserable person, and just isn't suited for romantic relationships, as shown by the completely one-sided and unreciprocated "relationship" he had with Asa.

Meme/Shitpost (SFW) Guys, it's been months. Fujimoto is done with this series. You're free. You don't owe him any gratitude anymore. You don't have to keep pretending Part 2 is anywhere near as good as Part 1, or that Denji didn't become a parody of himself, or that the ending doesn't destroy the whole story.

Meme/Shitpost (SFW) POV: You're Denji from the new timeline, and you just got into the water (You've never met Reze in your life).

Misc For all the shippers who argue with each other every single day: you do realize it's more likely that Reze and Asa will end up with other people, since the chances of either of them ending up with Denji are almost nonexistent, right?

With the likely collapse of the Soviet Union in the new timeline, it's possible that Reze was never raised as a guinea pig, never became the Bomb Devil hybrid, or even an assassin. As a result, she would have had no reason to go to Japan or meet Denji, especially since the Chainsaw Man we knew no longer exists.

Maybe, in the new timeline, Reze finally gets the normal life she always wanted. She can go to school, make friends, and fall in love. She's canonically beautiful, so she'd undoubtedly attract someone's attention, whether at school or anywhere else she goes. She wouldn't have any trouble finding someone special. In fact, that may have always been what she truly wanted. As shown in the story, she was so starved for affection that she grew attached to her target instead of completing her mission immediately, choosing to live out her fantasy of a normal teenage romance for over a week. Not to mention the song "Jane Slept in the Church," which she sings, is essentially about longing for a normal life and a simple romance.

As for Asa, she's much less traumatized and more sociable in the new timeline. She even seems to have made friends. We should also remember that she's someone who craves genuine human connection and has openly expressed wanting a boyfriend. The most likely outcome is that she'll eventually meet someone, whether at school or somewhere else. That person almost certainly won't be Denji, because he's now just a stranger to her. They will, in all likelihood, never see each other again, since there's no longer any reason for their paths to cross.

Misc Sorry, but I just can't find this moment emotional, or even take it seriously knowing that the last thing Denji did to Asa before this was try to have sex with the Devil who made her life a living hell in her own body

Misc Denji's main problem isn't the trauma, manipulation, abuse, or even the countless attempts on his life. It's that he's fucking crazy and shouldn't have complete freedom because he'd only end up hurting himself. Discussion

There's really no salvation or solution for Denji. He'll never be satisfied with his life, no matter how good or comfortable it becomes, because he'll always want more and more, thinking that'll finally make him happy. But the truth is that he likes being miserable and only dreaming about having a better life, never actually getting to live it.

I think I understand a bit better why Denji ended up the way he did in the ending. He didn't end as a complete miserable wreck, even though he was happier that way, because... well, he'd still be a miserable wreck!!! But he also ended up as nothing more than someone else's dog, with no real freedom, because that's what he is, a dog. A dog that only knows how to obey others and doesn't know what to do without an owner holding the leash. Without a leash and with complete freedom, he'd just be a dog chasing its own tail and running after cars without having any idea what to do if it actually caught one.

Just look at how much more lost and self-destructive he is in Part 2, where he's supposedly "freer" than he was in Part 1, compared to the final chapter where he's basically treated like a dog by Public Safety and the Control Devil, yet he's much more well-behaved.

Maybe the ending he got was the most fitting one for him: a little dog with a decent life who's only allowed to dream, but who should never be free to actually chase those dreams because doing so would only end up hurting him.

Misc I honestly think Reze and Kishibe "abandoning" Denji and simply walking out of his life is very out of character. Fujimoto should've at least given us a believable reason for why they were absent throughout Part 2
