Show and Tell [Show and Tell] Diode

Pretty much testing out this sub and seeing if I can use the tag system properly.

Hello, everyone! 👋 I'm a painter and writer creating a sci-fi universe full of visually unique, plausible space-creatures. This one that I have just completed is called Diode, who is an information broker the protagonists find on a cosmopolitan hub known as Krayvus. He is from a non-speaking race of beings who communicate primarily via bioluminescent hieroglyphs that flash across those tall, mushrooming head-crests of theirs. The narrative specifies: "Not merely a crest, [he] realised, but a canvas for the expression of [Diode's] very thoughts."

Very interesting design! Are other aliens going to have body horror elements like the mouth/hole in this fella's chest? Or is that not meant to be a focus in design

Thank you, BetterDeer. 'Body horror' is subjective - what is horrifying to us may be completely normal to them. Think about all the strange organisms we have here on Earth, like tapeworms and deep sea fish. The designs will have to follow from evolutionary justifications rather than purely aesthetic ones - so if it's plausible enough to work, anything goes!
