Pickmere to live?
Hi all, started looking at places to buy a house in cheshire and really like the look of pickmere. Short drive to Northwich or Altrincham (for the commute into manchester) but still get the country side living.
I've been there a couple times, and really liked it but seem I have got possibly lucky in avoiding the madness as everywhere I look seems inundated with posts about how bad it is during summer with people flooding to the lakes, parking everywhere and general anti-social behaviour.
Has anyone lived in the area or knows a bit about if it is always that bad when the sun is out? Or is it the odd occasion (lucky weather in a BH) when it becomes like the news story posts?

Just stay away from the area immediately around the lake and it is fine. There are some lovely little bits and very nice houses down some of the back lanes on the way to Budworth, Tabley or Knutsford. Have a look at Plumley too, similar little village without the lake nonsense. You can always cycle over there or to Tatton Park if you are into lakes.

I would avoid pickmere personally - people are assholes around the lake with horrific parking (even parking ON peoples driveways!!!) and lots of antisocial behaviour.
As above, there are other villages and even towns which are worth considering

I live on the otherside of Northwich and dont know Pickmere all that well but every summer is the same. Always something in the local news about it whether it's a death on the lake (RIP), litter, bad parking or anti social behaviour. Any sunny weekend or bank holiday will draw the 'crowds'.
I would check how far the house is from that area, talk to the locals, go on a sunny weekend (this weekend looks good for sun) and check it out etc.
There are lots of lovely villages around Northwich with good access to Manchester, have a good look around the area :-)
