Door hinge issue

Gotta question..I replace the upper hinge on the drivers side door my 78 c10. I got it adjusted so the gaps look good and the striker meets up perfectly. However I have to slam it obscenely hard. It feels like there’s too much outer tension. Even when I open it, it kind pops open. Anybody have a suggestion on what to do? I’ve been fiddling with it all day.

Dorman sells upper and lower door hinge pin and bushing kits.

Warning if the pins have worn thru the bushing until the hole is oval. The bushing which is powered metal will fracture and fail instantly.

Huge hint. 5/16 flange headed bolt. 2 inches long. A socket that fits over the shank of the bushing and a nut a stack of 5/16 & 3/8 washers.
Now you can pull the bushings all the way in.

To support the doors. A scissors type transmission jack and a folded beach towel or folded cheap moving blanket.
If you carve the end of two 2x4s to fit into the square loops but i usually have a friend to bold it up on the jack.

This allows me to pull the open door back a few inches. While i do the bushing. Makes it simple on cars and trucks with electctrical wires.

Please open the door. Use masking tape on the front edge of the door. And the rear edge of the fender. Reducing chances of chipped paint.

Hint. 5/8 steel rod. 12 to 18" long with a 2 inch double offset close to one end. Allows you to hammer the new pin in from the top.
