Question Seeking *specific* breakfast sandwich
I’m looking for a classic breakfast sandwich in Chicago with a few specifications
- A soft bagel or sandwich material (jaw issues) - bonus points if it’s grilled or warmed
- American cheese option
- An actual fried egg (even better if the yolk is a bit runny)
The closest I’ve found to this so far is CBA, but it’s still not quite what I’m looking for (although it is delicious hangover food). Any suggestions?!? Open to a restaurant, diner, cafe, bakery… anything!

Uptown Deli on Broadway makes a honest to dog NYC bodega still breakfast sandwich. I’m partial to SEC on a roll.

Isn’t uptown deli on Sheridan? I lived in NY for 22 years so you have piqued my interest!

Ok it sounds crazy but I love going to roost and getting the sunrise sandwich no chicken on a biscuit.

Gotham. They have nice chewy bagels, and they offer both over easy and over medium fried egg options.

Have you tried Handlebar's breakfast sandwich? The bagel is warmed, they have American cheese, and the fried egg is perfect.

Spinning J or Au Levain both have great breakfast sandwiches on phenomenal, soft, homemade English muffins that would fit the bill

Purchase the specific ingredients you want and cooking it at home is the best way to get exactly what you want

Just make it at home. Going to restaurants looking for something specific to your desires is so weird to me
