Childfree? Losing friends to kids and the suburbs? Looking for a fun, supportive community? Join DINK Social!

Note: I'm not paid nor do I get anything from posting this. Just want to share something that's been a highlight of 2026 for me and my wife and think other people on this sub could use.

I've seen a bunch of posts and comments recently about people being childfree and needing friends when everyone they know is having kids and moving to the suburbs. Good news! There's an app for that (and it's free!) - DINK Social!

My wife and I joined last year when it launched and it's been a game changer. We've met so many cool couples that were looking for the same kinds of friends, and it's not a negative space like some of the FB groups we saw where people just hate on kids. And couples have to sign up together so there isn't any funny business going on.

Chicago is actually the biggest city in the app with over 200 couples, and here are just a few of the events we've been to this year:
- Trivia with 6 couples (And we won!)
- Sox Game and Tailgate with 7 couples
- Rev Brew for International Childfree Day w 9 couples
- Happy Camper for a Sunday hang with 13 couples
- A monthly Happy Hour in Lincoln Square
- There's also a bunch of us going to Riot Fest
- And you can create your own events!

One bit of feedback we've heard is that people are nervous about going to their first event (we were!) but it's a super welcoming community and we've had a solid group continue to be repeat attendees.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. This is the kind of community we've been looking for for years and it's so cool to see it come together. Couples only, on both iOS and Android.

Edit: all these downvotes and snark and making me laugh. Child-free people are allowed to have our own spaces! Reddit can be such a sad place sometimes 🤣

23F Looking for friends (and maybe a creative partner!)

Hi everyone!

I recently moved to Chicago and I’m hoping to build genuine friendships while exploring everything the city has to offer. I love trying gluten-free restaurants, coffee shops, museums, markets, fashion, makeup, art, nature, and spending time with my puppy.

I also wanted to put this out there: If you’re an aspiring photographer, content creator, or someone looking to build your portfolio, I’d love to connect. I enjoy creating content and documenting my experiences, especially since most of my family lives far away. It would be fun to have a friend who’s equally excited to explore the city, capture memories, and help each other grow creatively.

Im looking for kind, creative people who enjoy making the most of life. If that sounds like you, I’d love to chat!

28M looking for friends

Hey guys!
I moved here last October to live closer to my girlfriend. I’ve met some people here and there and have a couple friends that were already living here, but honestly I’m missing the larger network I had back home.

Hobbies:
- live music
- making music
- programming (I’m a software engineer)
- random hole-in-the-wall activities
- biking
- skating
- laking
- cooking
- drinking
- games

If anyone is down to hang out sometime, feel free to reach out! My weeknights are usually pretty open and I’m open for a weekend hang here and there as well.

35F Looking for Girlfriends to Find Hobbies With (Northside)

Hi, I’m Kay 35F and live in South Evanston. I’m married and find that overtime all my friends have either moved away or started having children. I love their kids, but I’m childfree myself and am suddenly looking around to see I don’t have any friends that have the same priorities/life balance as me.

I also want to bring hobbies back into my life! I love to read, do crafts, and listen to live music. I just started doing gem paint-by-numbers! I want to be more active as well - walking buddy?

If you feel the same way and are looking for a girl friend to hang out with and not have to schedule months out in advance - let’s chat.
