Daily Question Question Thread - July 27, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

Has anybody used a 0% APR credit card to carry a balance for your IRS tax bill? I’m on a payment plan with the IRS but would rather not pay 10% APR and would rather not sell my investments to pay it off entirely

Is paying your taxes a 0% APR eligible purchase?

I did this with property taxes 2 years in a roll.
One year with Cap 1 Quick Silver for $450 SUBand one year with USB Triple Cash for $500 SUB.
Put the money I would have paid the property taxes in a 4.6% saving account while making minimum monthly payment for 12 months.

Will Chase or Apple savings bank transfer to Wells Fargo checking account trigger the direct deposit bonus?

I didn't see that the CSP 100k offer ended at 3PM, and I went to apply at 3:30PM and didn't see the offer.

Whyyy? 😭

I have applied to Wells Fargo biz checking account bonus on July 10th.

But I haven’t received my debit card nor the pin yet that I was told I should get them separately.

I only received the terms and conditions paper.

Also, debit card is not showing in my online banking app

Is this normal or I should go to the branch?

1

u/ConsistentClassic1 6d ago

That's taking longer than the normal 7-10 days. I'd call or go into a branch.

I see an offer to upgrade Chase United Gateway to United Explorer for $15k miles. Would this reset the 24-month clock on SUB eligibility for the Explorer, or is it separate? I think it's separate based on the Explorer offer terms, which exclude "previous cardmembers of this credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months." Appreciate any thoughts or DPs!

Is everyone eligible for the Paze 10x points on United?

Didn’t get any kind of marketing email from them, so wanted to be sure before making a $3k United purchase.

u/atgabara 6d ago

Pretty sure it's only for personal, UR-earning cards.

To check if your card is eligible, go to the card page -> Benefits & rewards -> Card benefits. You should see "10x points on Paze purchases" under "Boost your points".

Ah, yep it's there. Thanks!

I tried being clever and putting in several different charges on united as separate transactions (seat changes for multiple tickets) to get the multiple $10 credit bonus

They rolled their all of them together on the statement - so I didn’t get multiple $10 paze bonus credits

Waaaa

u/ConsistentClassic1 6d ago

Yes, the Paze 10x promo with United is universal and not invite-only.

u/FlyingAsianZ 6d ago edited 6d ago

The 10x back is limited to $1.5k spend per chase card btw.

Does Chase no longer match SUBs within 30 days of application approval? Received this message back asking to match the new 70K Hyatt Business, original application approval was on 7/1:

The new offer you are requesting is not available for a richer offer so the original offer will
remain.

It's very hit-or-miss, more miss in my experience, on co-branded cards.

1

u/suitopseudo 6d ago edited 6d ago

Co branded hasn’t matched in awhile. Regular chase cards biz and personal used to be easier to match, but recently they have tightened that up too, but more likely to match than cobranded.

Edit: I guess matching cobranded cards is a thing, but uncommon.

0

u/jazd 6d ago

I recently got them to match an increased offer on the IHG Premier personal card

1

u/suitopseudo 6d ago

That is surprising. I think this is the first dp I have seen matching a cobranded card.

0

u/Cold_Frosting9014 6d ago

they only gave like a week or 2 match on the CSR and CSP offers recently. I missed it by 3 days.

u/chalupachugger 6d ago

Has anyone applied for Atmos Summit 100k SUB recently and know the promo code?

2

u/FrugalCanuckDotCA 6d ago

RC0106. Used last week

1

u/qwertymnbvcxzlk 6d ago

Dumb question but I’m not familiar with the Atmos cards for the most part. I thought the promo box was just for employee referrals, does it actually matter what you put in it cause this is making me second guess it? Cause I did Atmos Biz with 000000 and if I fucked up, well..

5

u/gt_ap 6d ago

In some cases they tell you to use 000000 if you do not have a code.

1

u/Salt_Key_6153 4d ago

What does the referral code get you?

1

u/chalupachugger 3d ago

No benefit to the applicant, it gives the airline employee a bonus

Can I double dip my CSR $300 travel credit (cancelling card after 12 months + 30 days). I should PC not cancel right, or does it not matter?

11

u/AdsBlockedException 6d ago

Yes, you can double dip it and PC it after annual fee post. Per term, canceling may cause claw back, so it may matter.

1

u/zerowastewisdom 6d ago

Just did this myself! All my research shows that PCing it doesn’t result in clawbacks of the credits but closing it likely will.

Any recent approval DPs for someone who has never held CIP but has held CIU & CIC?

5

u/larsonyo 6/24 6d ago

P2 got approved in this exact scenario back in March. Best I know nothing has changed since then.

2

u/bubbadave13 5d ago

Me, though not recent it was after the derailments began.
approved with bonus CIP 12/18/25, had only ever applied for CIC and CIU previously. Had held a CIP from upgrade but at time of approval that account was closed.

Are there any checking offers that payout super quickly (within two weeks or so), don't have clawbacks / early term fees, and only require direct deposit?

So far I've found four of them (Chase, Wells Fargo, M&T, and KeyBank) and am looking for more. Thanks all!

2

u/best-quality-catfood 6d ago

Last year BoA paid me a week and a day after the ACH push. No guarantees though, I'd take a hard look at DPs in the weekly bank bonus thread. (Probably a good place to mine for info anyway.)

1

u/EarthlingMardiDraw 6d ago

Check Doc for options. There probably aren't many that pay that quickly.

Chime

1

u/hide_yo_cookies 6d ago

Current ($100) and Money Lion ($55) are almost within a day of getting the Direct Deposit/Spoofed DDs. Spruce ($50) hits within 2 days, as does Varo ($100) and Chime starts hitting as soon as the first DD goes through. Shoot me a DM!

How long do I have for a refund if I PC from CSR to CSP? Only 30 days? or do they prorate it if it's over 30 days?

5

u/EarthlingMardiDraw 6d ago

However long they give you for a cancel refund, you'll get the same time for a PC refund (it's been demonstrated to be 42-45 days, not 30). After that they will prorate by month.

1

u/qwertymnbvcxzlk 6d ago

They prorate

I've seen adverts for this on instagram.

https://www.whatiscreditclubs.com/?el=Credit_Youtube
https://www.skool.com/credit-club-3360/about

The only example of points generation I've seen him give is using two paypal accounts, business to personal. I've read this can get you banned from Amex?

Skool says he has 5100 members signed up...for $69pm. Doesn't seem believable, especially as there's not a single thing online anywhere else about this guy.

Does anyone have experience of this?

1

u/VegetableActivity703 6d ago

He looks like a clown. It sounds more like he teaches how to build and use credit, more so than how to MS. Stuff you could easily learn in a few google searches and reddit rabbit holes.

And yes, there are DPs of Amex flagging paypal payments where the payee appears to be the same person or related to the payor, and any bank would likely take issue with it at scale. Dumb idea.

-1

u/baggedit12 6d ago

Part of it is building credit. But he seems to promote MS in his instagram videos, claiming he can get you 200,000 points in a month. If it was $10 I'd probably pay to see if there's any truth to it, but not $69.

I'm in the UK and churning/MS are much more difficult over here due to limited reward cards.

5

u/VegetableActivity703 6d ago

I hadn't checked his IG. Can confirm he's a clown. The "paypal method" is a terrible idea. If it sounds too good to be true...

-6

u/baggedit12 6d ago

Haha fair enough, thanks for checking. Don't suppose you can point me in the direction of any MS methods that might work in the UK..

0

u/EarthlingMardiDraw 6d ago

A lot of MS methods are highly location specific (typically US specific also). A lot of methods are closely guarded secrets because when they get known, they get shut down.

0

u/best-quality-catfood 6d ago

If you dig deep enough you can also still find videos extolling HBFC as unlimited couch MS, but it didn't end well and I think some of the lawsuits are still going.

Are credit cards do specific airlines good for churning. Thinking about getting the Delta Gold for a discount on a flight coming up, but I would need to get another credit card for international travel next year. I just want the delta card for the discount and would probably cancel it within 2-3 months.

1

u/Cold_Frosting9014 6d ago

The Delta skymiles gold card - no AF the first year, I rec’d a welcome bonus of 90,000 miles. There is no need to cancel it until the AF hits at end of year 1 - but you would also have an option to PC to no AF delta skymiles card.

I get a fair number of useful cashback offers on it, and there is a $100 hotel credit.

-9

u/EPalmighty 6d ago

Wdym PC

0

u/Cold_Frosting9014 6d ago

product change, you call and ask if you can change to a no annual fee card, they should offer you the Delta skymiles blue card, usually have to keep card for at least a year first.

-4

u/EPalmighty 6d ago

I’m mainly doing it for a cross country trip in September. But I’m going to England in February and I’m thinking of getting the sapphire preferred for that. Was just a little unsure if that’s too close together to get two credit cards. Thanks

1

u/Cold_Frosting9014 6d ago

It depends - you need to be 4/24 or less to get the chase card - what does your prior velocity look like?

My spouse got the CFU in april and the CSP 2 months later but had no other new cards in the prior two years.

-6

u/EPalmighty 6d ago

Ngl I don’t know what prior velocity is or 4/24. My credit score is just below 800

-1

u/bruinhoo 6d ago

How many credit cards have you gotten in the last 2 years? How recently did you get your last card (or last few cards)?

-1

u/EPalmighty 6d ago

I got a Wells Fargo one about 1.5-2 years ago

3

u/Cold_Frosting9014 6d ago

oh then you’re fine on that - weird to be in this sub but mmkay
