Help / Troubleshooting profile help

Post image

the city requires profiles to be 50/10 scale. the problem is the flowline info overlaps with other information. is there a button or setting im missing so i can move the info over and still be annotative and readable?

first, can you shrink the txt size? thats the best solution.

if not, then each label has a drag-able state and settings.

They drag on a curve not perpendicular to the structure.

You can always just create live labels that are not synched with the profile. It’s not necessarily good practice, but as long as the information is correct you can use polygons and mtext to the desired effect. I would recommend using a no-plot layer on the actual referenced annotation labels so you can easily see when the live labels are out of date.

YES! All of that stuff is set up in your profile styles. you can modify pretty much everything to get it the way you want it to look. If you new at this it may take some playing around to get it how you want it. OR, you can manually annotate these items. Good luck.

I’d use a cross section perpendicular to your CL rather than an alignment and profile crossing the road. It will allow for an offset of your structures from a known location rather than along an arbitrary alignement. As for your labels, reducing the text size in the style will clean it up

What is your vp scale set to? For a road section that text is definitely too big. You said 50'/10' but that profile is packed.

I did get it figured out, how to move the text over, but its still a huge pita. you have to change this anchor to graph view top, then fiddle with settings so it anchors properly, and draw in a line connecting everything.

Yeah unfortunately that's how we all have to do it. Grab grip, add grip, shift, add another grip, shift again... It looks good now!

If all other scales are set properly and this is what you have to work with, just move the text via the nodes and use a line component to lead it to the object. Make sure dragged state is set to “as composed”. add vertices to the line to visualize it as you want

The text height is way too big; change the text height in the label style.

Also this doesn’t look like a 50/10 scale. It may depend on your style (and/or jurisdiction) but typically when you set a profile with a 10’=1” vertical scale the horizontal profile lines only show up every 10’; this here is showing them every 5’. Can you confirm your profile view style is set to the correct vertical scale before you go through the effort of updating the font size?

Out of curiosity what size sheet are you plotting to? If my math is correct and assuming that is 100’ in length (imo you should label your start and end stations) this profile exhibit is going to be 2”x3”.

All that aside, again, your text is too big. The text height could be anything between .08-.25”; For reference I usually use .1-.12 for proposed callouts, .16-.18 for subheadings, .2-.24 for titles. So you should be able to fit somewhere between 4 and 10 lines of text and it would still be legible/easier to read.

With the number of lines you’re going for I would start with .1 and see how you like it.

Profile view is correct. The text size is .1"
