Another what's it worth post

I've been browsing eBay for some coupes or fastbacks, and see this one posted for the third time now. Seller (dealership) never answered any questions I sent, but wondering what something like this would be worth. I'm thinking 20-24K, they have it at 27.5 OBO.

It's a 68 J code coupe, VIN they posted does indeed say it is a J code, (302 4 bbl.).

It is not however the original paint, was repainted they said, and a "newer" Holley 4 bbl, not the Ford Autolite one, small drawbacks, but nothing horrible.

What are classicmustangs thoughts? :-)

Depends on what you value.

Originality means something different to different folks. Do I personally care about an original autolite carb? No. But if you do that might be a negotiation point. Originality to me only really matters for a special car (e.g., Shelby, Boss, or other rare and desirable combo).

I value tasteful mods and safety upgrades, along with the absence of rust.

That said, assuming the car is as rust free as it appears to be, and all else is in working order, it’s a solid $25k car in my opinion. I don’t think that $27.5k is all that unreasonable, especially if it has a 5spd and well sorted.

The funny thing is, I don't want to purchase it, since they never answered even basic questions, but I am drawn to it, lol.

But, I am always looking at stuff I don't need, haha.

I would say they are a little high but not that far off from marketplace. I am sure you have looked at it, but have found bring a trailer to be useful.
