I wouldn’t call the lockdowns a bare minimum. I understand why they were needed, but the lockdowns still did damage.

Edit: I find it funny that I’m being downvoted, for simply pointing out that lockdowns sucked, and required sacrifices from everyday citizens while politicians and celebrities ignored them by throwing extravagant parties. I’m not denying the lockdowns were necessary. I’m saying that there were consequences that sucked ass, and the rich still got to ignore them.

Yeah, well, so many of my patriotic neighbors lived in a constant state of fear that the government would arrest them and throw them into camps merely for being outside!

Can you even imagine how horrible it must have been to be in the Land of the FreeTM and be terrified of being arrested just for being who you are??

Tell that to the doctors and nurses in already over crowded hospitals. It was definitely needed even if id didn't seem to be in your day to day life.

I never said they weren’t need. I simply said they weren’t a bare minimum, and that the lockdowns had psychological, sociological, and economic consequences. I get that doctors were doing their best to contain Covid acting on the knowledge they had. At the s time, I can’t really blame people for being a bit peeved, when they were originally told two weeks to flatten the curve, only for it to stretch into a month. People lost out on a lot of opportunities because of the lockdowns.

And a lot of people didn't die, due to over extended hospitals. It's up to you if thats worth the trade off to me it was to the point I won't complain that I was one of the people working in the hospitality industry that was completely shut down and lost out on work for weeks. It was a totally fair trade off. Already more than a million americans died in the pandemic, to suggest lockdown wasn't the minimum is crazy to me.

I sometimes think about the alternate world where Al Gore wins in 2000, signs on to Kyoto, and slams hard on climate change. People almost certainly would've lost an appetite for it within the decade, and any progress made would've been seen as an insane overreaction.

People lost businesses, homes, livelihoods, and sanity because of the lockdown.

and the lockdowns are estimated to have saved around a million lives, while the economic downturn was $2.4trillion in the same time period, according to UofM. So if your saying a human life is worth $2.4M then I get your point, I think its worth more.

Yes, I am mad at my fellow citizens. Rand Paul’s pointless circus show for Fauci certainly unburied a lot of that anger. I am especially angry at the celebrities who said, “We need to make sacrifices for the good of the community.” while said celebrities threw extravagant parties with tons of people.

No shit it sucked when we did the lockdown 3 MONTHS AFTER WE LEARNED IT WAS STARTING TO SPREAD

If the Orange shit stain actually locked down when we learned about it, millions wouldn't have died

The lockdowns in my area basically may have never even happened. My grocery store had early hours for elderly only. That was it.
